“He turned around and he said to me that night, he said, ‘I had no idea that so many people liked me,’” she explained.

She added that his reaction stemmed from living in what she described as “his own bubble.”

Sharon called the Villa Park concert a huge success, and said, “It was the first time, I think, that anybody’s gone into retirement and done it, where the show is streamed and it goes to charity. So it’s the first time...

Ozzy Osbourne Documentary ‘Coming Home’ Confirmed For BBC
Image
The BBC’s long-gestating Ozzy Osbourne documentary will finally make it to the small screen.

Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home will chart the last chapter of the iconic Black Sabbath founder’s life, with contribution from wife Sharon and children Jack and Kelly.

Following Osbourne’s death, Deadline revealed two weeks back that the BBC was locked in conversations over the future of the documentary series about the Osbourne family, This was originally conceived in 2022 as Home to Roost, a spiritual successor to MTV’s anarchic mid-noughties series The Osbournes.

Produced by Clarkson’s Farm maker Expectation in association with Joks Productions Limited, Coming Home is filmed over three years and ends with Osbourne’s incredible final concert in his home city of Birmingham, where against all odds he performed with Black Sabbath just a fortnight before he died.

Clare Sillery, BBC Head of Commissioning, Documentaries, said: “We are honoured to...

The studio was developing it with Polygram Entertainment and Osbourne Media, the film and television arm of Universal Music Group and the Osbourne family’s media label, respectively. Sharon, as well as her and Ozzy’s children, Jack and Aimee Osbourne, were attached to produce alongside Polygram’s Michele Anthony and David Blackman and Sony’s Andrea Giannetti.

Lee Hall was attached to write the screenplay, fresh off the success of 2019’s “Rocketman,” where his script adapted Elton John’s life story for the screen. Polygram...

Ozzy Osbourne Just Wanted to Get Back Onstage
Image
When Ozzy Osbourne brought Metallica on tour in 1986, he noticed his young opening act blasting Black Sabbath in their dressing room and covering his old band’s songs in soundchecks. Osbourne’s first assumption, he said later, was that Metallica were mocking him. He was stunned to learn they were actually displaying their hero worship, and trying to coax him onstage with them.

As discussed in the new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now, Osbourne — who died July 22 at the age of 76 — could be touchingly insecure for a beloved and wildly influential metal legend.

During Stewart’s last handful of concerts since Osbourne’s July 22 death, he has dedicated his song “Forever Young” to the Black Sabbath singer. Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock Cover Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs
Image
Ozzy Osbourne’s influence stretches far and wide — even into indie rock circles. On Friday night in Atlanta, The Flaming Lips kicked off their co-headlining tour with Modest Mouse by teaming up with Mm’s frontman Isaac Brock for a collaborative cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” in honor of Osbourne. It was overall a pretty faithful performance of the heavy metal classic, and despite Brock warning that he didn’t know the song’s lyrics, he kept pace with Lips’ singer Wayne Coyne throughout. Watch fan-capture footage.

Modest Mouse’s tour with The Flaming runs through mid-September, after which they’ll team up with Built to Spill for a separate leg of co-headlining dates. Look for tickets here.
