Wesley Snipes & Ving Rhames' Boxing Drama 'Undisputed' Is Now Streaming Free
Image
One of Blade star Wesley Snipes’ most underrated movies is now free to stream. The actor and martial artist, who is best recognized for his role as the Marvel vampire hunter, a role he reprized in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine, puts in a reliably charismatic performance as a boxer behind bars in the action/boxing/prison drama, Undisputed. You can now discover the movie without spending a dime, and it deserves a second round.

Released back in 2002, Undisputed is written, produced and directed by Walter Hill, the filmmaker behind the likes of the nightmarish ‘70s thriller The Warriors and producer of the Alien franchise. The movie stars Ving Rhames as George "The Iceman" Chambers and Wesley Snipes as Monroe "Undisputed" Hutchen, a pair of fighters who find themselves facing off while serving time behind bars. The rest of the cast features several genre favorites, including Peter Falk, Michael Rooker,...

Snoop Dogg ‘Missionary’ Review: A Nostalgia Act That Assumes the Wrong Position
Image
Since Snoop Dogg’s 1993 debut, Doggystyle, Dr. Dre has only sporadically produced a track or two for his former protégé, which makes the idea of the West Coast legend helming an entire Snoop album in 2024 such an intriguing prospect. While Snoop’s claims to artistic legitimacy largely went out the window around the time that he signed with Master P, Dre’s credentials have remained mostly intact. The hope, then, was that this reunion might ignite a much-needed fire under Snoop’s ass and result in an album with more energy and focus than the placeholder projects he’s been churning out of late.

A sequel to Doggystyle in the loosest sense imaginable, Missionary is easily the most eager-to-please project Snoop has attached his name to in quite some time. His verses are nimble, delivered with a touch more gusto than the stock laidback routine he’s been coasting on...

Why Antonio Sabàto Jr. Believes ‘DWTS’ Is Rigged
Image
Is every little detail about Dancing with the Stars totally organic? Season 19 contestant Antonio Sabato Jr. doesn’t think so. The actor and model once competed on the show back in 2014. When he recently reflected on that time, he didn’t have the nicest things to say. These are the details of Antonio‘s personal experience performing on the hit reality TV show.

Antonio Sabàto Jr. Doesn’t Remember DWTS Fondly

Antonio sat down with another former Dancing With the Stars contestant, Cheryl Burke. He joined her on her podcast, Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans to chat it up. At one point, he told Cheryl, “To be honest, I think that that the show is partly rigged in a sense. Yeah, it is rigged.” He went on to say:

“First of all, if you’re not a dancer or you don’t have dancing skills from a young age, you’re not going to win.

Jay-Z is at the receiving end of severe criticism for Kendrick Lamar headlining Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2025 instead of Lil Wayne. The next Super Bowl is set to be hosted by New Orleans and fans believed the obvious choice for the Halftime Show would be the New Orleans-born rapper Wayne. However, celebrities including Nicki Minaj have slammed Jay-Z for bringing out his vendetta in this selection.

Lil Wayne Says Super Bowl Lix Halftime Show Decision ‘Broke’ Him: ‘I Felt Like S–t’
Image
Lil Wayne revealed that he’s disappointed that he didn’t get the job to headline the upcoming Super Bowl Lix halftime show, saying that the development “broke” him. This is the first time the New Orleans-born mega rapper has spoken out on the matter following the announcement that Kendrick Lamar would be the one headlining the NFL championship game set to take place in the city.

“Forgive me for the delay … First of all, I had to get strength. I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking,” Wayne, who has previously voiced his desire to headline the Super Bowl halftime show, said in an Instagram video on Friday. “I thought there was nothing better than that spot, that platform in my city, so that hurt. It hurt a whole lot. But y’all, y’all are f–kin’ amazing. It made me feel like s–t not getting this opportunity,...

Lil Wayne Says Not Landing Super Bowl Halftime Show “Broke” Him: “It Hurt a Whole Lot”
Image
After news broke of Kendrick Lamar being chosen to headline the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans, there was much discussion within hip-hop circles about why hometown rapper Lil Wayne wasn’t booked instead. Now, Weezy himself has opened up about the emotional letdown he’s felt since Jay-Z and the NFL made the decision.

“It hurt a whole lot,” Wayne said on Instagram Live, blaming himself for “not being mentally prepared” for a letdown and assuming he would be picked as the Super Bowl Halftime performer. “I thought there was nothing better than that spot and that stage and that platform in my city. So it hurt. It hurt a whole lot.”

Nicki Minaj Blasts Jay-Z for Not Booking Lil Wayne to Headline Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans
Image
Nicki Minaj has criticized Jay-Z for choosing Kendrick Lamar to headline the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, arguing that the honor should have gone to Lil Wayne, as the game will be played in his hometown of New Orleans.

“Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego,” Minaj wrote. “Your hatred for Birdman, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!! Lil Wayne!!!!!!!!!! The Goat?!!!!!!!!!!! Nola what’s good?!!!!!!”

In another post, Minaj wrote, “God forbid if Wayne was to leave this earth right now, the culture would be in mourning. That’s why so many ppl keep saying to give our legends their flowers while they are still around to smell them. Sitting around all day playing games with ppl life & legacy.”

Several other associates of Lil Wayne, including Birdman, Master P, Cam’ron, and Mase, also called out Jay-Z over his decision to book Lamar.

Nicki Minaj, Birdman, and More Slam Jay-Z Over Super Bowl Halftime Show
Image
The people close to Lil Wayne are making it clear they’re not happy with him not being named the Super Bowl Lix halftime show headliner. Nicki Minaj and Birdman both took to X today to air their gripes with the NFL’s (and presumably Jay-Z’s) decision to have Kendrick Lamar headline the February showcase. While they didn’t explicitly name Jay-Z, who has had a hand in producing Super Bowl halftime shows since 2019, it seems pretty apparent what they’re talking about.

Lil Wayne’s Team is Probably More Pissed Than Drake’s Team After NFL Choses Kendrick Lamar For Half Time Super Bowl Show in 2025
Image
The Super Bowl is undoubtedly the ultimate mega-event of the year that millions look forward to, with the halftime show being the crowning jewel. This time around, Kendrick Lamar has scooped up the opportunity to perform, following a crazy year of beef with Drake. Super Bowl Lix is slated for February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome.

However, with the game set to take place in New Orleans, many fans and insiders, felt Lil Wayne was the obvious choice for halftime glory, given that New Orleans is his home ground. So, it’s no surprise that Wayne’s management is seriously irked about the Not Like Us rapper’s gig.

Randy Travis appeared in front of a House Judiciary subcommittee hearing Wednesday to ask Congress to pass the American Music Fairness Act, a bill that would require American radio stations to pay royalties to a song’s performers.

As Randy has been unable to speak since suffering a major stroke in 2013, his wife Mary Travis testified on his behalf. “I’m kind of like a bad version of AI, but with consent,” Mary quipped at the onset, alluding (kind of) to Randy’s new song that makes use of the technology.

Master P: Music Is the Lifeblood of New Orleans. Let’s Pay the People Who Make It Possible
Image
Master P is one of the most successful rappers and producers of all time, but like any other recording artist, he’s never earned a dollar in royalties for when his recordings get played on U.S. radio stations. This is because for as long as radio has existed, U.S. law hasn’t required stations to pay the performers on songs, only the songwriters. It’s a uniquely American phenomenon as markets in many other countries have paid both creators for years.

Master P thinks the answer comes from...

How Deion Sanders Turned University of Colorado Football Into an A-List Attraction

A-listers from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Kawhi Leonard have shown up to see the Buffaloes run the field, and the star power is poised to continue as the team takes on UCLA at the already sold-out Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena on Saturday.

“I can assure you as a sports commentator and reporter for years, I’ve never had any reason to talk about the University of Colorado football,” says Stephen A. Smith, host of ESPN’s First Take. “Never thought about it until he arrived there. I’d never been to Boulder, Colorado, in my life. I’ve already been there twice. What Will It Take For Award Shows to Get Hip-Hop 50 Tributes Right?
Image
Ok, let's be honest - did we really expect the MTV VMAs, of all award shows, to deliver the best hip-hop 50 tribute of the year? The "all-star finale performance" MTV touted ahead of the Sept. 12 event included Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, LL Cool J, Dmc (of Run-d.M.C.), Doug E. Fresh, and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five as performers. The 10-minute tribute intended to honor the culture's entire 50-year history, but with a lineup that shallow (and New York-skewed), is that even possible?

The VMAs aren't alone: it seems every award show's hip-hop 50 tribute has missed the mark this year. The Grammys kicked off the milestone celebration in February with an old school-meets-new-school performance, which featured everyone from Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, and De La Soul to Lil Baby, GloRilla, and Lil Uzi Vert. The BET Awards followed suit in June with a "non-stop party" of medley performances from folks like Warren G,...

Recognition of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary has been in full force throughout 2023, but writer Kiana Fitzgerald’s celebration started almost a year early, in February 2022. That’s when she began crafting Ode to Hip-Hop, out now on Running Press. Her debut book chronicles “50 albums that define 50 years of trailblazing music,” spanning nearly the entire timespan of the genre: as early as Kurtis Blow and as recent as Megan Thee Stallion (who joins Lil Wayne, Lil Kim, Missy, Tupac, and Lil Nas X on the Yay Abe-illustrated book’s cover).

Fitzgerald says putting together this book,...

It celebrates the anniversary of the order made by Major General Gordon Granger on June 1965 that proclaimed freedom for slaves in Texas. The order was actually made two years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

In a tweet Monday, former President Obama explained it as the “delayed but welcome news of freedom reaching the enslaved Black folks in Galveston, Texas.” In 2021, President Biden made Juneteenth a federal holiday.

Many networks are marking the occasion with Juneteenth TV specials or movie marathons showcasing Black talent and/or excellence. See our viewing guide below:

Creed 3 Soundtrack Guide: Every Song In The Rocky Spinoff & When They Play
Image
Creed III has a knockout soundtrack with songs to keep the blood pumping and the heart soaring in the Rocky spin-off. The ninth installment in the Rocky franchise finds the Italian Stallion's protégé Adonis Creed (director and star Michael B. Jordan) facing the opponent of his career in Damian "Diamond Dame" Anderson. Dame reenters Donnie's life just as it's reached the top, a childhood friend with a chip on his shoulder over serving prison time for an altercation the former World Heavyweight Champ actually started, and composer Joseph Shirley amplifies the emotional current that undercuts their bouts with a moving score.

The Creed III soundtrack is produced by J. Cole's Dreamville Records, known for utilizing strong underground artists, and features Morray, Headhunters, Ari Lennox, and J. Cole's re-imagining of a classic Dr. Dre song. And since no movie in the Creed or Rocky franchise would be complete without epic walkout songs,...

Dead End Changed the Gangster Movie Forever
Image
William Wyler’s Dead End made its screen debut on Aug. 27, 1937. The film adaptation of Sidney Kingsley’s Broadway play starred Sylvia Sidney and Joel McCrea, and featured Humphrey Bogart in third billing. But the movie was stolen from them all by a gang of upstart juvenile delinquents, who nicked audience attention like a fancy watch mugged off a clueless rich brat.

Billy Halop, Huntz Hall, Gabe Dell, Bobby Jordan, Bernard Punsly, and Leo Gorcey were the original teen menaces who terrorized theatergoers when the play opened on Oct. 28, 1935. Directed by the playwright, Dead End ran for 684 performances, and is still the longest-running play in the Belasco Theater’s history. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt saw it three times.

Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, Dead End isn’t the greatest gangster movie of all time. It followed the classic era of the genre; it was produced by Samuel Goldwyn for MGM studios,...
