Netflix just added an uplifting CBS classic and fans are thrilled
Image
Surprises can be good or bad, but in this case, it’s definitely a welcome one. Netflix has just added a beloved CBS classic to its library, and we had no idea it was coming!

On July 31, the streaming giant released the drama series Touched by an Angel on its platform. This show was not included in Netflix's original July 2025 slate of new releases, so its arrival comes as a surprise, albeit a pleasant one.

As of today, you can watch all nine seasons of Touched by an Angel on the streaming platform. That's 211 episodes of heartfelt stories that have personally touched so many lives, including mine. It's the perfect show to turn on when you need a little comfort or inspiration. Or simply when you need a break from the chaos of everyday life. Touched by an Angel is definitely a show worth revisiting or discovering for the first time,...

This Forgotten Disney Film Paved the Way for James Cameron's Avatar
Image
Every studio has its hits, and Disney is no exception. Despite the studio’s massive influence, it’s still prone to producing pop culture duds. Yet, many of those “flops” are important stepping stones. They help the studio learn what works and — more importantly — how to create something better. One of the studio’s most unappreciated stepping stones hit theaters in May 2000. Dinosaur’s rubbery behemoths may not have aged gracefully, but their uncanny appearances highlighted the studio’s lofty ambitions.

Fans should think twice before judging the visuals of Dinosaur too harshly, as the world’s first feature-length CGI film, Toy Story, debuted just five years earlier. Though the former film’s visuals have undoubtedly aged, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The “outdated” effects of Dinosaur are a CGI time capsule, and they reflect what was once considered the most advanced technological achievements in digital animation.

Here Are all the Songs in ‘It’s What’s Inside’
Image
“It’s What’s Inside” might have you wondering exactly which character the actors are playing at any given moment, but it’s just as likely to have you wondering, “Hey, what’s that song?”

The new body-swap thriller from writer/director/editor Greg Jardin reunites a group of college friends after many years and unleashes a body-swapping technology on them, revealing long-suppressed drama and pent-up secrets — all while they’re switching from body to body.

In addition to the score from Andrew Hewitt, the “It’s What’s Inside” soundtrack is full of classical and retro needle drops, including songs by The Orions, The Walker Brothers and several orchestras. Check out all the songs in “It’s What’s Inside” below.

It's What's Inside Soundtrack Guide: Every Song & When They Play
Image
Warning: This article contains Major Spoilers in It's What's Inside.Netflix's It's What's Inside includes an interesting soundtrack featuring predominantly instrumental music that helps add tension and shape the plot. The comedy-horror movie follows a group of friends who play a body-swapping game that leads to deadly consequences. After its strong debut, Netflix quickly snatched up the expensive Sundance movie, adding the title to its catalog of exclusive content.

It's What's Inside has gone over well with critics, gaining an impressive 77% score on Rotten Tomatoes before its Netflix debut. Many factors contribute to the movie's success, including the cinematography, the color palette, and the fun premise. Many critics have praised It's What's Inside's engaging characters, who are both flawed and interesting. However, one of the most underappreciated parts of the movie is the fantastic soundtrack. Rather than relying on a score, this movie uses compelling instrumental songs and a...

Touched by an Angel Reboot Imagined by Star: 'If We're Fantasizing About It...'
Image
Roma Downey speculates on a potential Touched by an Angel reboot with Monica as a wiser, older angel. Touched by an Angel star Roma Downey reflects on the passing of her co-stars Della Reese and John Dye. Downey offers advice on not being a perfectionist in order to get things done, urging to be bold and take risks.

In an exclusive interview with MovieWeb, we asked Roma Downey if there was any interest in bringing back the beloved 90s drama series Touched by an Angel. Downey, who starred in the original series as the kind-hearted angel, Monica, revealed that she is asked about a revival “a lot.” However, she added that, due to two of the most prominent stars of the show, Della Reese and John Dye, having sadly passed away, bringing back Touched by an Angel would be no easy task.

“I've been asked this a lot, as you can imagine.

Roma Downey’s TV Return With New Series ‘The Baxters’
Image
Roma Downey, the star of Touched By An Angel, is returning to television. Her return is in time for the 30th anniversary of Touched By An Angel which also starred the late Della Reese and the late John Dye. The new series has been titled The Baxters.

No One Has Forgotten Touched By An Angel

Even after several decades, no one has forgotten Touched By An Angel. This wildly popular show starred Roma Downey as the angel Monica. Della Reese, who passed away at the age of 86 in 2017, portrayed Tess. Tess the “supervising angel.” The Angel of Death was portrayed by John Dye. At the age of 47, he passed away from acute methamphetamine intoxication.

Fans of Touched By An Angel have been hoping for a reboot for a very long time. Sadly, this doesn’t appear to be possible. “That’s not a bad idea, unfortunately, we see all these...

Golden Globes history in the making: Niecy Nash-Betts win would end half century drought
Image
Fifty-two years ago, Gail Fisher (“Mannix”) followed Diahann Carroll (“Julia”) as the second Black woman to win an acting Golden Globe and the first to be so honored for a supporting TV performance. After all this time, her name remains the only one on the latter list, but she could soon be joined by Niecy Nash-Betts, who is looking to set a record of her own as the first Black actress to ever receive a Golden Globe for work on a limited series. If she succeeds on her bid for Netflix’s “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” she will also be the 21st Black actress ever honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in any competitive category.

Nash-Betts is one of the five inaugural nominees in the newly-established Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actress category, which was created to separate featured female performers on continuing and non-continuing programs. Her...

Sza’s Out for Blood and Big Moods on ‘S.O.S.’
Image
If modern R&b were a Nineties teen melodrama, Sza would be the cool girl with a Trapper Keeper full of receipts on everyone. She’s the queen of revenge fantasy—exes get offed (before being told in no uncertain terms that their stroke is weak), and toxic rivals get dragged for fun in her songs, which come off like angsty if enchanting diary entries. In the video for “Shirt,” the third single off her stellar new album, Sza casually murders people at a diner while crooning, “Feel the taste...

Richard Pryor And A Slapdash Script Made Harlem Nights Miserable For Eddie Murphy
Image
The cliche holds that when a movie star attains a certain degree of success, they get bored or convinced of their own brilliance and say, "What I'd really like to do is direct."

Name a big-screen megastar from the last 75 years of filmmaking, and it's likely they followed through on this impulse. Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Burt Reynolds, Jack Nicholson, Kevin Costner, Denzel Washington... these men didn't become icons the world over because they lacked ambition. Once they racked up a few box office hits and maybe an Academy Award nomination or two, they surveyed the Hollywood landscape and saw many more worlds to conquer. Sometimes it goes poorly (Nicholson's "The Two Jakes"), sometimes it's a draw, and sometimes it's an Oscar jackpot (Redford's "Ordinary People" and Costner's "Dances with Wolves").

For Eddie Murphy, if we're going strictly by the finished product, his one and only directorial effort...

Niecy Nash (‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’) could become first Black actress to win Golden Globe for any limited series
Image
The 1971 Golden Globes marked the first instance of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association bestowing awards for supporting TV performances. The inaugural male and female recipients of these two prizes were James Brolin and Gail Fisher (“Mannix”), both of whom had won Emmys for the same roles eight months earlier. Fisher followed Diahann Carroll as the second Black woman to win a Golden Globe in any acting category, and, five decades later, remains the only Black Best TV Supporting Actress champ. She could, however, finally have company if Niecy Nash (“Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”) catches the attention of enough voters this year. And Nash would make history in her own right by becoming the first Black actress to win a Golden Globe for any limited series.

At the 2023 Golden Globes, for the first time ever, supporting TV players will be divided by both gender and program classification. This generally welcome...

Live At Mister Kelly’S – Review
Image
View of Mister Kelly’s marquee featuring Joan Rivers and Adam Wade, Chicago, Illinois, circa 1968.

In the 21st century, it seems that a near-unlimited supply of entertainment is at our fingertips, or at least at the click of a mouse. That flow seems constant with a staggering variety of options. But what did folks do around 75 years ago? Sure, radio was still dominant, though this new “gizmo” called television was making inroads. And of, course the movies were there. As for live entertainment, many performers played at regional venues like state fairs and auditoriums. If you were looking for something more intimate, the big cities had nightclubs. And in between meccas like LA (with Ciro’s and Slapsy Maxie’s) and NYC (with the “Copa” and the Latin Quarter), there was the “Windy City”. When the vaudeville and burlesque venues began to shutter, lots of big-name talents, in music and comedy,...

Image
Bill C. Davis, whose 1981 Broadway hit play Mass Appeal was adapted for a 1984 feature film starring Jack Lemmon and Željko Ivanek, died Feb. 26 following a brief illness, his family announced. He was 69.

The play originally was produced Off Broadway in 1980 at the Manhattan Theatre Club, starring Milo O’Shea and Eric Roberts and directed by Geraldine Fitzgerald. Mass Appeal moved to Broadway the following year, with Michael O’Keefe taking over for Roberts.

Jack Osbourne at an event for American Idol (2002)
A knife-hurling poltergeist, a doppelganger-infested seminary, a fleet of mini UFO drones and a giant, grody Bigfoot toenail (you read that right) are just a few of the bizarro video clips Jack Osbourne and the “Ghost Brothers” — Dalen Spratt, Marcus Harvey and Juwan Mass — have compiled to rattle each other in the new discovery+ series “Fright Club.”

In a hair-raising yet hospitable competition, the quartet of paranormal investigators not only round up the freakiest footage and photos of the unexplainable, but they also get those who shot the oddities to share how they felt in the moment they captured it.

In the exclusive teaser above, Harvey presents a clip of footage taken in an abandoned hospital used in World War I that clearly shows a large light anomaly pass through the frame, breaking a chair in its path.

Rivera is best known for her groundbreaking role as Santana Lopez on the Fox series “Glee,” playing the character from 2009 until the show’s finale in 2015. As part of the “Glee” cast, she received several nominations at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Grammys and Teen Choice Awards.

Nick Apollo Forte Dies: ‘Broadway Danny Rose’ Actor Was 81
Image
Nick Apollo Forte, a longtime cruise ship and cabaret singer most widely known for his co-starring role in Woody Allen’s 1984 comedy Broadway Danny Rose, died Wednesday in Waterbury, Ct. He was 81.

His death was announced by his family. No cause of death was given, but the family thanked his doctor and staff for “many years of caring for Nick with love, respect and dignity.”

Forte, according to his family, began his musical career at age 15 under the stage name Nicky Redman. He opened for Della Reese at the Apollo Theater in 1957, after which he changed his stage name to Nick Apollo Forte to honor the venue.

After years of traveling the United States as a musician and entertainer, Forte was tapped by Allen to play alcoholic lounge singer Lou Canova in Broadway Danny Rose, which starred the director and Mia Farrow. With his newfound fame, Forte would appear on...

In a speech celebrating the opening of his brand new 330 acre studio in Atlanta, Ga., Tyler Perry challenged his guests to dream bigger, like he had, while turning the former Army base into his personal production play land. But even the biggest dreamers — and the biggest names in entertainment — couldn’t be prepared for all the multi-hyphenate creator had in store at his grand opening gala on Saturday night.

“For people to drop what they’re doing in their very busy schedules to come and join me in this moment is beyond anything I could’ve imagined. It makes me happy. It makes me want to cry. It makes me grateful. It’s just I’m beyond,” Perry told Variety on the red carpet as the festivities kicked off. “I’m over the moon right now.”

The centerpiece of the evening featured Perry’s tribute to trailblazing Black stars who inspired him — Oprah Winfrey,...

Oscars In Memoriam: Penny Marshall and Burt Reynolds Among Those Remembered
Gene Hackman, Terence Stamp, Ned Beatty, Christopher Reeve, Jackie Cooper, Sarah Douglas, Jeff East, Margot Kidder, Jack O'Halloran, Valerie Perrine, and Susannah York in Superman (1978)
Each year the Academy Awards pays tribute to those actors and industryites who died during the preceding year with a heartfelt montage sequence. This year’s In Memoriam segment unspooled with John Williams’s theme from “Superman” played by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by Gustavo Dudamel, over photos of actors, filmmakers and many others who died between March 2018 and February 2019. Although the montage usually features the most prominent names getting slightly longer clips at the end, this year’s segment didn’t follow that tradition.

Stanley Donen, the co-director of “Singin’ in the Rain” and director of “Two for the Road,” who died Saturday, was not included.

Those who were recognized included “Big” director Penny Marshall, “Deliverance” star Burt Reynolds and major filmmakers including Bernardo Bertolucci, Milos Forman, Nicolas Roeg, Neil Simon, Marvel legend Stan Lee and “Princess Bride” author William Goldman. Other prominent acting talents remembered in the montage were Albert Finney,...

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Recap: Which Queen Literally Got the Boot?
Caitlyn Jenner
My reaction to this week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars can be summed up with but two words: Ding. Dong. After three weeks of Gia Gunn terrorizing the workroom with her relentless negativity and senseless shade, Manila Luzon finally doused this season’s Big Bad, freeing the remaining seven queens to focus on what actually matters — the competition.

But first, let’s back up and see how we reached this glorious conclusion: Friday’s episode introduced Snatch Game of Love, a slightly more romantic version of the show’s most popular challenge, causing immediate friction between the “snatchelorettes.

Thandiwe Newton at an event for RocknRolla (2008)
Thandie Newton could be the 1st black Best TV Supporting Actress Golden Globe winner in almost 50 years
Thandiwe Newton at an event for RocknRolla (2008)
Fresh off her surprise Emmy victory, Thandie Newton (“Westworld”) is in second place in our odds to add the Best TV Supporting Actress Golden Globe to her collection. If she does take home the award, Newton would be just the second black actress to win the category since the very first one almost half a century ago.

“Mannix” star Gail Fisher was the inaugural champ in 1971, back when the category was just called Best Supporting Actress — Television Series, before it became the catch-all Best Supporting Actress — Series, Miniseries or Television Film in 1981. Fisher also won a Globe in drama lead in 1973 and an Emmy in drama supporting in 1970 for “Mannix,” becoming the first black actress to win those categories as well.

Since Fisher’s win and two subsequent nominations in supporting, seven black actresses have contended for the award, including Newton in 2017 for the first season of “Westworld.” Five of them — Marla Gibbs,...

The Emmys paid their final respects tonight to dozens of industry notables who died over the past year, including 10-time Emmy-winning writer-producer Steven Bochco, who employed half the town on such shows as Hill Street Blues, La Law and NYPD Blue; five-time Emmy-winner Anthony Bourdain, whose suicide shocked his friends and fans; and three-time winning actress and humanitarian Nanette Fabray. Sen. John McCain also was honored, as was Neil Simon and Aretha Franklin, whose moving rendition of “Amazing Grace” was played throughout.

Presented by Tina Fey, the In Memoriam portion of the show also paid tribute to dozens of actors including Burt Reynolds, Rose Marie, Jim Nabors, Della Reese, Jerry Van Dyke, Charlotte Rae, Bill Daily and David Cassidy. Emmy-winning actors Robert Guillaume, Reg E. Cathey and Olivia Cole also were honored.

Roma Downey on Touched by an Angel Co-Star Della Reese: ''I Miss Her Everyday''
Roma Downey
When Irish eyes are smiling... A few days after St. Patrick's Day, Roma Downey caught up with E! News' Jason Kennedy at Rock & Reilly's Irish pub to discuss her new book, Box of Butterflies, and her profound relationship with her late Touched by an Angel co-star Della Reese, who passed away on Nov. 19, 2017 at the age of 86. When Kennedy asked the actress who she was holding up after the lost of her friend, Roma said, "I miss her everyday. She was such a blessing in my life but not just my life but the lives of everyone she met." Roma, who lost her own mother at the age of 10, went on to say, "She was such an influence on my life. She was my mother. I was a girl without a...

2018 Oscars ‘In Memoriam’: Missing honorees include Academy Award-winning actress, Oscar-nominated songwriter, and breakthrough director
Eddie Vedder
The “In Memoriam” segment of the Academy Awards is guaranteed to be two things: moving and frustrating. While we laud the academy for its efforts to be even more expansive at the 2018 Oscars with the number of people to whom it pays tribute (51), it is vexing that certain famous faces were excluded. Above, watch as Eddie Vedder sings the late Tom Petty‘s “Room at the Top” as the three minute video unspools.

Among those missing from this “In Memoriam” video, the most glaring omission is 1956 Best Supporting Actress winner Dorothy Malone (“Written on the Wind”). After more than a decade as a contract player at both Rko and Warner Bros., she changed her good girl image with her searing performance as an alcoholic in Douglas Sirk’s lush drama and took home an Oscar for her efforts. She went on to headline TV’s version of the Oscar-nominated “Peyton Place.

Drive-In Dust Offs: Psychic Killer (1975)
Revenge films have been around for a very long time; one can look to The Virgin Spring (1960), Straw Dogs (1971), or Death Wish (1974) for their rise from serious drama to movies of a more exploitive nature. Psychic Killer (1975) adds a unique twist to the tale by having astral projection as a means to the violent ends. Quirky and laden with creative deaths, it very much embraces its weirdness, providing a fun carpet ride for the whole family (at least according to its mind-boggling PG rating).

Released stateside in December by Avco Embassy Pictures, Psychic Killer, aka The Kirlian Force, only cost $250,000 and came and went like a phantom in the night. Critics paid it no mind either, and it was relegated to video store shelves and gas station rentals. On the surface, that’s understandable; a B cast with a former actor turned fairly unproven B director (Ray Danton – Deathmaster), and...
