Christian Bale’s $268 Million Biblical Epic Is Crucifying the Competition on Global Streaming Charts
Image
Christian Bale hasn’t been seen in live-action since 2022’s The Pale Blue Eye, the mystery thriller streaming on Netflix, but one of the star’s older and more controversial projects has stumbled into a run of streaming success. Bale stars alongside Matt Damon and Jon Bernthal in Ford v Ferrari, the racing biopic following Carroll Shelby (Damon) and Ken Miles (Bale) as they work to build a revolutionary car for Ford with the hopes of defeating Ferrari at Le Mans in 1966. Ford v Ferrari is currently streaming on Prime Video, but the streamer has confirmed that it will depart that platform at the end of this month, meaning the final day to watch the film is June 30. 'Madden' Star Christian Bale Is Unrecognizable as Al Davis in Set Images From Sports Drama
Image
Christian Bale is an actor that's no stranger to completely transforming himself for his roles. Whether that was becoming incredibly thin for the 2004 thriller The Machinist, regaining all of that weight and muscle for Batman Begins, or even putting on weight for his role as former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney in Vice, Bale has consistently shown impressive commitment. Now, set photos from the actor's latest project have made their way online, showcasing that Bale has yet again undergone a new transformation for his role as football executive and coach Al Davis in the upcoming Madden movie.

Bale can be seen in the set photos sporting some casual clothing and a leather jacket, though it is his three Super Bowl rings that stand out in the costume, with the actor sporting all three on his left hand. More than just the costume, Bale can be seen with a balding...

'Madden' Actor Quits Film Over Director's Alleged Use of Racial Slur
Image
Production on Maddenonly kicked off two weeks ago, but the NFL sports biopic, starring Christian Bale and Nicolas Cage, chronicling the life and career of John Madden, may already be looking to make a substitution in its cast. An unnamed supporting actor has reportedly quit the film over director David O. Russell's alleged use of a racial slur on set and a proposed scene involving full-frontal nudity. However, according to TMZ, sources close to Amazon Studios have disputed the claims and added some further context to the situation.

Five members of the cast and crew reportedly spoke to the outlet about the incident and various people apparently claimed that the actor was working with Russell on "an impromptu monologue when the director allegedly said the N-word," which prompted him and others that witnessed the exchange to walk off set. However, studio sources claim that it was the actor's idea...

David O. Russell
Is there trouble brewing on the set of David O. Russell’s Madden?
David O. Russell
I know what you’re thinking: Drama? On the set of a David O. Russell film? Shocking! But here we are. Just two weeks into production on Russell’s John Madden biopic—starring Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale—TMZ reports that a supporting actor has walked off set, citing serious issues with the director.

According to the report, the actor claims that Russell used the N-word during a scene and pushed for full-frontal nudity in a locker room sequence. TMZ says they’ve confirmed the account with five cast and crew members, who allege that Russell did, in fact, use the slur while working with the actor—who was visibly upset by it.

However, the studio tells a different story. Sources close to the production insist the controversial language was originally the actor’s suggestion (though it was ultimately cut from the scene), and maintain that Russell never used the word during filming.

'It Was Enormously Uncomfortable': Nicolas Cage on the Role That 'Embarrassed' Him Most
Image
Prolific actor Nicolas Cage has seemingly had countless roles, but there's one that pushed him out of his comfort zone more than any other. Typically, Cage feels like he is able to "hide" when he's playing characters, so when it came to portraying himself, he was left feeling "naked."

Cage addressed which role challenged him the most in a recent interview with The Guardian. He pointed to The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, a comedy-action film that starred Cage as a fictionalized version of himself. Though there were some differences, such as calling the actor "Nick" in the film, it wasn't the same as playing a fictional character. This left the actor without the ability to shield himself behind the character, and he now admits that he felt "embarrassed" when filming the movie.

"I think the hardest performance was The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, because I was playing a...

When deals close, Mulaney will play Trip Hawkins, who founded EA Sports and was a driving force in behind the Madden NFL video games; Hahn will play Madden’s wife, Virginia; and Miller will play Davis’ wife, Carol. Russell is directing with Escape Artists’ Todd Black producing.

Amazon MGM Studios had no comment.

Production is set to start next month in Atlanta with Russell directing from a script he wrote, following an earlier version by Cambron Clark. Black is producing through...

Image
Hollywood icon John Lithgow opens up about how he landed the role of Star Wars' Yoda more than forty years ago.

Speaking to Collider, Lithgow laid out the story of how he ended up portraying the voice of Yoda for 1983's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back radio drama. Lithgow recalled being directed on Broadway in by John Madden, who was also directing the second entry in the Star Wars radio drama. "He had Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels and Mark Hamill," Lithgow said, "But Frank Oz had chosen not to play Yoda because he was very doctrinaire about only using his voice when he used a puppet—not unlike Dave Crealy, I might add."

That's how I got the role of Yoda in the radio production.

"So John was pissing and moaning over lunch one day during a rehearsal break that he couldn't find a Yoda, and I said,...

Jackson, and many more have all traveled to a galaxy far, far away for one of the various installments in the ever-expanding franchise. However, one actor you might have completely forgotten appeared in Star Wars is John Lithgow. Not only did the Third Rock From the Sun star become part of the Star Wars universe, he played none other than Master Yoda.

During an interview with Collider, Lithgow recalled his brief time playing Yoda in Star Wars. For those that don't know, Lithgow voiced Yoda in the radio dramatizations of The Empire Strikes Back. "I was acting in a play on Broadway directed by John Madden,...

That’s why, for Super Bowl Lix — which means 59, I checked — I enlisted a variety of Simpsons Facebook Groups and a few superfans to assemble the list below of 59 hilarious football moments from The Simpsons.

Patricia Arquette on Starring in David Lynch's Polarizing 'Lost Highway:' "One of the Bravest Things I Could Have Done"
Image
Patricia Arquette recently spoke about starring in the late David Lynch's polarizing and surreal 1997 film, Lost Highway, as both Renee Madison and Alice Wakefield. In the interview with IndieWire, she reflected on the dual roles, filming with Lynch (who very recently passed away), and appearing nude.

"That was the hardest movie for me to ever make because I’ve always been very shy," Arquette said. "Especially sexually. I think I probably had a lot of trauma. For many years, I would even take baths in the dark, alone with just a candle."

In the past, she said filming the nude scenes were "terrifying," especially as the crew said "crude" things. She continued:

"For me, making Lost Highway was one of the bravest things I could have done. I was so sick of carrying this burden of terror, this fear. That was a very powerful movie for me to make.

Is Ari Shaffir A Big Troll or ‘America’s Sweetheart’?
Image
America’s Sweetheart, Ari Shaffir’s new Netflix stand-up special, bears a title that flies in the face of the hilariously edgy jokes you’ll hear during the comic’s latest hour. “I’m a big troll,” Shaffir laughed as he explained the special’s ironic name. “I like to rile people up. I’m a habitual shit-starter.”

What to expect from the new special? “I’m trying to take every single thing that people say, ‘This is too serious,’ and I’m gonna be like, ‘Let me show you how to find some joy out of that,’” he says. The message of America’s Sweetheart? “Guys, chill the fuck out.”

I recently spoke with Shaffir about the state of comedy in 2025, the legend of working the door at the Comedy Store and how the advent of podcasting permitted provocative comics to be themselves.

“You see it everywhere in America,...
