For as long as there have been films, there have been filmmakers attempting to enhance the theatrical experience through the use of gimmicks. From the red-eyed skeletons of William Castle to the “odorama” cards of John Waters’ Polyester, gimmicks are the puns of the filmmaking world: memorable and effective in small quantities, but annoying when overused.
That’s why I get why so many people reject 3D cinema. After all, modern theater screens ended up becoming oversaturated with lazily post-converted cash-grabs rather than movies that were shot on actual stereoscopic cameras. However, having just recently fixed my own aging 3D TV and binge-watched dozens of gimmicky genre films, I’m pleased to say that there are a surprising number of fun 3D experiences beyond the usual suspects.
With that in mind, here’s a list recommending six underrated horror movies that were shot in 3D!

Director Doug Aarniokoski's baseball cap makes a cameo in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, but it's not as glaring as Game of Thrones' infamous coffee cup. Research consultant Jorg Hillebrand confirms the crew member in the background of Discovery season 5, episode 2, adding to Trek's history of production slip-ups. Aarniokoski takes responsibility for the cap appearance, admitting to the oversight in a humorous mea culpa on Twitter.
Star Trek: Discovery director Doug Aarniokoski admits that his baseball cap is briefly visible in Discovery season 5, episode 2, "Under the Twin Moons." In Discovery's defense, however, the production gaffe isn't anywhere near as noticeable as the infamous coffee cup that was seen in Game of Thrones season 8, episode 4, "The Last of the Starks." Game of Thrones' mistake sparked an online discourse of jokes and memes, especially since so much attention was paid to the final season of HBO's hit fantasy series.

Patrick Stewart can still remember the feedback he got in 1987 when he was offered the chance to first play Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

“I was advised by people who knew our industry very well that there was little chance that this show, whether I did it or not, was going to be a success,” Stewart recalled Saturday during a panel for Paramount+’s Star Trek: Picard at Deadline’s Contenders Television. “You cannot revive an iconic show like Star Trek, you can’t do it. You’ll be lucky to make it halfway through the season.”
But Stewart relished the idea of coming to California to “get a sun tan and meet some girls.” More importantly, he was about to make some money for the first time in his life “which I had never done. I was a stage actor.

Plot: After receiving a cryptic, urgent distress call from Dr. Beverly Crusher, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard enlists help from generations old and new to embark on one final adventure: a daring mission that will change Starfleet, and his old crew forever.
Review: When the first season of Star Trek: Picard debuted, I gave it a glowing review. I had only seen the first episodes of the season, and while I liked the entirety of it, I was underwhelmed by the uneven ending. The same thing happened for season two: I loved the return of more Next Generation characters, and the early episodes I was given were great, but the season did not stick the landing. I went into the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard cautiously optimistic but prepared to be underwhelmed as I was twice before. A new episode of the Black Sheep video series has just been released, and in this one we’re directing some praise toward an underappreciated entry in Full Moon’s Puppet Master franchise. That entry is the 1993 release Puppet Master 4 (watch it Here), and you can find out why we think it deserves more respect by checking out the video embedded above!

During the panel about the series however, the team behind the series didn’t seem so sure that this would be the end.

A new trailer for the third and final season of Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Picard” launched out of New York Comic Con Saturday, revealing new additions to the Patrick Stewart-led show’s cast — including the return of some iconic villains from “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
Per Paramount+, Brent Spiner will be back on “Picard,” not as Data, but as a character the streamer describes as “named Lore” — evoking one of the most formidable villains in “Next Generation” history: Data’s evil twin brother, Lore, who was defeated and disassembled at the beginning of Season 7 of “Next Gen.” Additionally, Daniel Davis will return as Professor Moriarty from “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” the Holodeck personification of a fictional character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to be an enemy for Sherlock Holmes. “Next Gen’s” Moriarty ended up becoming self aware.

Jean-Luc is getting the old gang back together.
“Star Trek: The Next Generation” stars LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis and Brent Spiner will join Patrick Stewart for the third and final season of the Paramount Plus series “Star Trek: Picard.”
Spiner has played several characters on “Picard” in Season 1 and 2 (which is currently streaming), including his original role of the android Data; Frakes and Sirtis appeared in one memorable episode of “Picard” in Season 1 as William T. Riker and Deanna Troi. And Whoopi Goldberg reprised her role as Guinan in the Season 2 premiere. But this will be the first time the main “Tng” cast — including Burton as Geordi La Forge, Dorn as Worf, and McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher — has performed on screen together since the 2002 feature film “Star Trek: Nemesis.”

“Red Sonja” has found its star.
Hannah John-Kamen, best known as the villain Ghost in “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” will wield the sword of the comic book fantasy hero in Millennium Films’ long-gestating feature adaptation. Joey Soloway (“Transparent”) is directing the film, from a script by Soloway and Tasha Huo (a writer on Netflix’s upcoming “Tomb Raider” TV series).
“Hannah is a very talented actress who we’ve been following for years and she is Red Sonja,” Soloway said in a statement. “Her range, sensibilities and strength are all qualities we have been looking for and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this journey together.”
Created in the early 1970s by Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith for Marvel’s “Conan the Barbarian” comics, Red Sonja quickly became popular enough for her own spinoff series. That is certainly due in part to the character’s formidable fighting skills and forthright personality,...

CBS All Access has big, big plans for the Star Trek franchise, and don’t we know all about it.
In the immediate future, we have the second season of Discovery to look forward to, which will bring with it the introduction of new versions of Spock, Captain Pike and more, while also promising a lighter tone and more cheerfulness amongst the crew, after the grim and dark rookie outing.
But before that, the network will be rolling out Star Trek: Short Treks, four standalone stories that will premiere on October 4th and focus on characters from Discovery. We’d heard about the project a few months ago but now, we’ve got all the details, and it certainly sounds exciting.
From what we understand, the individuals who’ll take the spotlight in these shorts are Mary Wiseman (Tilly), Doug Jones (Saru) and Rainn Wilson (Harry Mudd), along with a...

My familiarity with Paz de la Huerta is limited. I've seen only the first season of "Boardwalk Empire", never seen Enter the Void and I don't remember her in Choke or Deception. However, I am familiar with her name and her name seemed to be everywhere around the time promotion for Nurse 3D began around the end of 2013. A blood-soaked and naked De La Huerta was featured in the marketing for a film in which she played a nurse that exacted murderous revenge on adulterous men. The film looked awful and I can't even remember if there was a press screening here in Seattle, but I do remember it quickly being panned by most that saw it or accepted merely as an exploitation flick by those that endorsed it. Well, as far as De La Huerta is concerned, it ended her career. readmore postid="141892" In a story at TMZ they...
