A Quiet Place Part II: Ending Explained – Did Regan’s Discovery Change Everything?
Image
A Quiet Place Part II (2020) takes a different narrative approach than its predecessor by providing a glimpse into the world before it was overrun by the Death Angels. This expansion of the film’s universe allows the audience to witness a world that was once alive and filled with joyous people going about their daily lives. The movie paints a picture of normalcy, with scenes of people engaged in mundane tasks like grocery shopping or enjoying a child’s baseball game while sipping on their favorite beers. It’s a stark contrast to the desolation that follows.

Unfortunately, the world changes when an unidentified meteorite crashes, bringing with it the terrifying Death Angels. With their sharp teeth and extreme sensitivity to sound, these otherworldly creatures unleash chaos and carnage upon the world. The alien invaders swiftly consume the majority of the population, leaving the survivors with no option but to go into hiding.

John Krasinski Missed Out on Playing 2 Major Marvel Heroes (Who Aren't Reed Richards)
Image
Quick Links John Krasinski Has Come a Long Way Since The Office John Krasinski Auditioned For Captain America Before Chris Evans Took Over Krasinski’s Voice Could've Been Heard in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

John Krasinski has come quite a long way since his days as Jim Halpert on The Office, breaking into directing and taking on more dramatic material. One of his most surprising roles came in the form of playing a variant of Marvel's Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Despite how brief it was, it was a dream come true for those who had been fan-casting him in recent years. Even though he won’t be returning for the upcoming Fantastic Four film, it wouldn’t be the first time he has missed out on such a major opportunity with Marvel. Not only did he end up failing a once-in-a-lifetime audition that most...

Emily Blunt Confesses She Was Nervous to Work With Husband John Krasinski on A Quiet Place
Image
John Krasinski’s 2018 movie, A Quiet Place, spawned an entire franchise, and it also gave a chance for the actor/writer/director to work with his wife, Emily Blunt. The Oscar-nominated Blunt (Oppenheimer), per The Hollywood Reporter, at the Red Sea International Film Festival, recently opened up about working with her husband on the movie.

“I was a little nervous to work with him,” Blunt admitted about working with Krasinski, to whom she’s been married since 2010. Krasinski, wrote, directed, acted, and produced A Quiet Place, which follows a family’s struggle as they deal with blind alien creatures with insanely good hearing.

Blunt said she loved the script and thought it was unusual but simple, with an intriguing premise. However, she said at first, she suggested that a friend of hers would be better for the role, but she said the friend laughed, so she made the decision to...

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead Reveals Clever Gameplay Feature To Keep You Silent & Safe
Image
A key new feature in the upcoming A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead has been revealed - one that will help players utilize even more of the environment to avoid bloodthirsty creatures stalking their every move. Within the upcoming hide-and-seek horror title, remaining undetected is the only way to make it out alive.

In a new video showcase from developer Saber Interactive, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead has revealed the unique way in which players can silence the sound of their steps in-game by using sandbags. According to the developers, players can lay sand down at their feet to muffle the sounds of their footsteps, which will help prevent detection from A Quiet Place's terrifying audio-focused creatures. As explained in the video, sandbags will be few and far between, perhaps indicating some level of survival-horror resource management.

A Quiet Place: Day One's John Krasinski Replacement Is Way Smarter Than Him After Only 1 Day
Image
A Quiet Place: Day Ones protagonist Sam, played by Lupita Nyongo, proves herself to be much smarter than John Krasinskis character from the previous films almost immediately. Whereas the Krasinski-starring original A Quiet Place was set more than a year into the alien invasion, A Quiet Place: Day One kicks off on the day the aliens landed. In the first two movies, the characters are well-acquainted with the aliens and their weaknesses and how to survive post-invasion. But in A Quiet Place: Day One, the characters have no idea whats going on and have to figure it out.

Sam put an interesting spin on the usual tropes of post-apocalyptic stories. In most post-apocalyptic movies and TV shows, the heroes are determined to survive the end-times. But Sam is already terminally ill before the aliens arrive, so shes not particularly interested in survival. She just wants to make it across town...

A Quiet Place: Day One Director Michael Sarnoski On Making His Blockbuster Thriller
Image
Michael Sarnoski's focus on character is what made A Quiet Place: Day One an epic disaster film with heart and humanity. The director's transition from indie to blockbuster embraces artistic vision and creative freedom. His upcoming project with Hugh Jackman will bridge the gap between blockbuster scale and indie intimacy.

A Quiet Place: Day One hit theaters earlier this summer and surprised audiences with its heartbreaking story about a dying woman facing the apocalypse. Whereas the first two Quiet Place movies were tense horror movies that utilized rural settings for homegrown terror, Day One is more of an epic disaster film, set over the course of the first few days when the aliens begin their invasion. The first two Quiet Place movies were written and directed by John Krasinski, but director Michael Sarnoski took the reins for the prequel starring Lupita Nyong'o as Sam and Joseph Quinn as Eric.

I Cant Believe A Quiet Place: Day One Cut Joseph Quinns Most Heartbreaking Scene
Image
Eric's deleted scene reveals his struggle with suicide, bringing depth and meaning to his character in A Quiet Place: Day One. The scene changes the character dynamics, showing Eric's newfound will to live and his need for human connection. Joseph Quinn's impressive range as an actor shines in the emotional deleted scene, adding layers of complexity to the film.

This article contains references to a fictional character experiencing suicidal thoughts.

Joseph Quinn had a prominent role in A Quiet Place: Day One, but one deleted scene reveals so much more about the character. The Quiet Place films have become a new sensational horror franchise from the incredibly creative John Krasinski. Since the first movie debuted in 2018, the series has recieved a sequel, and a spin-off prequel which details the first day of the invasion from the perspective of two individuals in New York City.

A Quiet Place Just Made John Krasinski's Death Much Darker 6 Years Later
Image
A Quiet Place: Day One sheds light on Lee Abbott's death, revealing he likely became an alien food source after his sacrifice. New revelations in the prequel confirm humans as the aliens' primary food source, growing eggs from bodies they have killed. The franchise takes a darker turn with Day One, changing how audiences view John Krasinski's character's death in the first movie.

John Krasinski's Lee Abbott died six years ago in A Quiet Place, but a new reveal in A Quiet Place: Day One makes his death a lot darker than before. The first installment in the sci-fi/horror franchise released in 2018 was built around the family dynamic of the Abbotts. A Quiet Place: Day One takes the franchise in a different direction by going back to the first day that the aliens invaded. This meant not including the Abbott family, as their experience on Day One...

How A Quiet Place: Day One Character's Fate Compares To John Krasinski's Lee Abbott's Explained By Director
Image
The article contains discussions about suicide.

A Quiet Place: Day One director explains how Sam's fate in the prequel differs from Lee Abbott's in the original film due to reasoning and personal agency. A Quiet Place: Day One emphasizes individual control over life and death, showcasing Sam's terminal illness and her choice to die on her terms. Lee's death in A Quiet Place was a sacrifice to save his kids who were in danger.

A Quiet Place: Day One director Michael Sarnoski explains how Sam's (Lupita Nyong'o) fate compares to Lee Abbott's (John Krasinski) in the original movie. The Sarnoski-helmed film serves as a prequel to A Quiet Place and its sequel. While the first two films follow the Abbott family as they adjust to life in a post-apocalyptic world following an alien invasion, the prequel follows Sam and Eric (Joseph Quinn) navigating the very onset of the invasion.

Ranking The ‘A Quiet Place’ Movies and the Ripoffs Its Inspired
Image
One of the most surprising franchises in recent years, A Quiet Place: Day One brings the franchise back to theaters. The third film inside a decade, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, and now Lupita N’yongo, has proven it’s got staying power. There’s a lot to like about the franchise, so much so that a few similar movies and shows have reached for similar material. A few of these movies existed or were in production alongside A Quiet Place. Yet their similarity speaks to Hollywood’s never-ending willingness to push out movies with similar themes and ideas simultaneously.

A Quiet Place: Day One's Most Confusing Scene Demands A Deeper Look
Image
This article contains spoilers for "A Quiet Place: Day One."

To put it mildly, the "A Quiet Place" series is not best known for its world-building. The ingenious premise of the original screenplay by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (revised into the 2018 crackerjack setpiece machine co-written and directed by John Krasinski) works best when less detail is put into it: otherworldly monsters are roaming about, and if you make a sound loud enough to break the silence, they will track you and kill you instantly. Simple!

Krasinski's film made sure to do the bare minimum when explaining these extraterrestrial invaders, resulting in the (now somewhat infamous) dry-erase board of facts and speculation maintained by Krasinski's simple farmer and patriarch, Lee Abbott. Even though 2021's "A Quiet Place Part II" expanded the post-apocalypse world and characters, there was really only one new big piece of information given about the creatures, the...

A Quiet Place: Day One Ending Explained: I'll Have One Pizza Slice To Go, Please
Image
Shhhhh, keep that trap shut! This article contains major spoilers for "A Quiet Place: Day One."

What do you do at the end of the world? For most people, like John Krasinski's Lee Abbott and his small family of survivors in the first "A Quiet Place," you simply internalize your grief and keep going as best you can. In its 2021 sequel, the promise of a miraculous safe haven on an island at least provides Emily Blunt's widowed Evelyn Abbott a semblance of hope for a fresh start in this strange and silent new status quo. For Lupita Nyong'o's terminally ill Samira in "A Quiet Place: Day One," thoughts of escape and survival simply don't mean as much to her. For her, grabbing one last slice of authentic New York pizza at a location full of happy childhood memories is the best outcome she could possibly find.

A Quiet Place: Day One Is a Nerve-Wracking and Emotional Prequel
Image
John Krasinski's A Quiet Place franchise has long operated under a very simple, yet effective horror movie logic. Grotesque, bug-like aliens invaded Earth and drove humanity to the brink of extinction. With their enhanced strength, speed, and ultra-sensitive hearing powers, these monsters hunt humans through the slightest of noises, be it a conversation or a car alarm. Ergo, no one in the movie can talk, lest they risk drawing the monsters to their location and getting turned into shish kabobs.

The first two A Quiet Place movies worked as small-scale family dramas, following the Abbott household as they struggled to survive the post-apocalypse and, along the way, deliver the means of exposing the aliens' high-frequency weakness to humanity. But those films took place in the farmlands and industrial corners of New York, long after the world fell. What happens when this same premise is moved to the bustling city of Manhattan,...

A Quiet Place: Day One Director Recalls John Krasinski's Indication for Continuing the Franchise
Image
John Krasinski ventured into the horror genre with his critically acclaimed A Quiet Place, a franchise that received a sequel and will premiere its prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, later this month. However, he did entrust someone else to continue his vision, and he had one direction.

A Quiet Place: Day One will take viewers on a trip back to where the alien apocalypse first started. A Quiet Place: Part II included several glimpses at the beginning of the apocalypse, bringing back John Krasinski's character Lee Abbott for a few anxiety-inducing scenes. However, the story in the upcoming prequel goes beyond the Abbott's stories, and will have Michael Sarnoski at the helm, who told Empire what requests Krasinski had to continue the franchise.

In A Quiet Place Part One, we witnessed the aftermath of the alien invasion, with some flashbacks interspersed with the “Death Angels” arrival on the meteorites, emergence and the subsequent non-stop attacks on anything that made even the slightest noise. We came to love the Abbott family and mourned when husband and father Lee Abbott was killed when saving his children from the claws of the monsters.

In A Quiet Place Part II, audiences saw The Abbott family and their little town decimated. As the Abbotts, Evelyn and her children, hunt for any viable refuge from the sounds that draw the omnipresent creatures, they stumble upon an old acquaintance turned into a determined loner whose past makes it difficult for them to trust his true intentions. This is Emmett portrayed by Cillian Murphy. As was briefly referenced in Part II in a conversation between Murphy (Emmett) and Djimon Hounsou (Man...

The Best Sacrifices in Movies, Ranked
Image
Regardless of whether it's an action flick or a horror movie, sacrifices will always elevate the dramatic charge of a story. There's no better way to illustrate a character's redemption than with their willingness to give their life to save others. However, sacrifices aren't always related to brave causes: quite often, they are more about a character coming to terms with their own mortality rather than a touching decision to save other people's lives.

In A Quiet Place, Lee Abbott yells at the top of his lungs to prevent creatures that hunt by sound from preying on his family. In Terminator 2: Judgment Day, T-800, a cyborg, gives his life so humanity can continue to fight for the right causes. These are all unforgettable sacrifices in movies, but there are plenty of underrated choices that stand out as the most impactful moments of these stories.

How The VFX Team For A Quiet Place Turned John Krasinski Into A Monster
Image
This post contains spoilers for "A Quiet Place."

The world in "A Quiet Place" is a post-apocalyptic one, teeming with extraterrestrial monsters who hunt indiscriminately when they hear the faintest sound. Silence means survival in such a world, which offers no luxury to communicate, laugh, or even scream out loud, as these monsters are ravenous and hostile without exception. A chunk of "A Quiet Place" explores what it means to live under such conditions, where a family becomes our focal point as they navigate the horrors, their personal lives perpetually in danger with the monsters encroaching on their personal space. Although these anxieties are embedded in the moments of silence that precede danger, the creature designs in "A Quiet Place" also do a lot of heavy lifting to convey the dread of dealing with an unknown group of hostiles.

Scott Farrar, the VFX supervisor of the film, explained that the...

A Quiet Place’s New Cillian Murphy Replacements Confirm How Genius The Sequel’s $300 Million Risk Was
Image
A Quiet Place 2 successfully replaced John Krasinski with Cillian Murphy, who brings quiet mystery and chemistry to the horror franchise. Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn similarly come in to lead the prequel, hinting at a scarier spinoff with a larger budget and horror expertise. The absence of children in A Quiet Place: Day One suggests a more ruthless and terrifying experience set in chaotic New York City.

As A Quiet Place: Day One takes the horror franchise back to the fateful apocalyptic day, the prequel’s substitutes for Cillian Murphy’s A Quiet Place 2 introduction highlight how the gamble of his casting truly paid off. Directed by and starring John Krasinski, the 2018 A Quiet Place movie was a massive hit for the former The Office actor, as the critically acclaimed horror film earned over $340 million at the box office against a modest $17 million budget (via Box Office Mojo). A Quiet Place: Day One Reveal Sets Up John Krasinski's Return (But With 2 Problems)
Image
A Quiet Place: Day One's setting in New York creates the opportunity for the return of the Abbott family and John Krasinski's character. Djimon Hounsou's character from A Quiet Place: Part II could potentially meet Lee Abbott, but it would contradict the established timeline. Including John Krasinski's character in A Quiet Place: Day One may risk undermining the purpose of the prequel and making the franchise feel smaller.

A significant revelation from A Quiet Place: Day One's trailer sets up the possibility of creator John Krasinki's return to the franchise in front of the camera, but such a comeback would create some problems. Serving as a prequel to the franchise's acclaimed first two installments, Day One can provide some much-needed answers about A Quiet Place's alien invasion. Its unique position in the timeline and setting also allows some characters' stories to be expanded.

A Quiet Place 3 Has To Bring Cillian Murphy Back Now After $952 Million Box Office Hit
Image
Cillian Murphy's character, Emmett, is likely to return in A Quiet Place 3, following the success of the franchise. The return of Cillian Murphy would enhance the overall appeal and box office potential of the movie, especially considering his chemistry with Emily Blunt in Oppenheimer. Emmett's survival and his renewed purpose make him a potential surrogate father figure for the Abbott family in A Quiet Place 3, setting the stage for a reunion between Murphy and Blunt.

Following the success of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, the team behind A Quiet Place 3 will certainly look to bring back one of the stars of A Quiet Place Part II, Cillian Murphy. 10 A-List Actors That Are Secretly Way Better Directors
Image
Some of the biggest A-List actors in Hollywood are surprisingly better directors. Many of today's prominent directors started their careers through acting but rose into esteemed ranks of writing and directing that make them much better known as directors than actors. Some examples include Greta Gerwig, who has appeared in Frances Ha, Jackie, and 20th Century Women, and Jordan Peele, who was part of the comedic duo Key & Peele before skyrocketing to directorial success with 2017's Get Out.

Peele and Gerwig are not necessarily A-List actors nor are their directorial talents much of a secret since both were nominated for Academy Awards for Best Director in 2018. Several other big-name stars who are certainly considered A-listers in acting and have lesser-known aptitudes in directing can even be argued as better directors than they are actors. Here are ten examples of A-list celebrities that are secretly much better at directing despite their fame as actors.

The Office Reboot Happening Is Dependent 1 Thing, Says NBC Chairman

The Office has had several failed spin-offs, including a project focusing on the next generation of Dunder Mifflin stars. Answering whether The Office will ever return for a reboot, there is a single man that NBC is looking to. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, NBCUniversal TV and Streaming Chairman Susan Rovner revealed that the decision is in the hands of The Office producer Greg Daniels. 12 PG-13 Horror Movies That Prove They Don't Need An R-Rating To Be Great
Image
With the release of "M3GAN," discourse about MPAA ratings has again reared its ugly head. "M3GAN," which scooped in 45 million worldwide during its opening weekend, is rated PG-13. And that has many horror fans deriding the rating, with some arguing that the film suffers from its lack of an R since much of the gore and violence has been tamed for a younger demographic. That's not to say "M3GAN" doesn't have enough bite. It has plenty. As /Film writer Witney Seibold posits, "M3GAN" has enough "nerve" as a PG-13 film. It doesn't need to be rated R.

When it comes to horror, MPAA ratings have never equated quality. Many horror films have been rated PG, including "Poltergeist," for example, that are still just as effective in their storytelling and supply plenty of thrills and chills. It's a tired argument to suggest horror can only excel with an R-rating. Ultimately, the rating doesn't matter.
