Does The Naked Gun Have A Post-Credits Scene? A Spoiler-Free Guide
Image
It's been a little while since we've had a pure comedy for the sake of comedy movie in theaters, but that's all about to change with the release of "The Naked Gun." This is a reboot/sequel based on the very popular series of comedies starring Leslie Nielsen from the '80s and '90s. This time around, it's "Taken" star Liam Neeson leading the way as Frank Drebin Jr. as the head of Police Squad. Though he's known more as an action star over the course of the last 20 years, Neeson now has his sights set on saving theatrical comedy, with the help of a stacked cast and a director with a knack for being very, very funny.

So, do the laughs extend into the credits? Or s it time to make a break for the lobby when the credits roll? Credits scenes have become very common these days...

Inside the Cult of the Jesus Army Review: From Sanctuary to Prison
Image
Every few years, television reminds us that some of the most unsettling stories don’t require sci-fi premises; they just require a charismatic leader, a patch of English countryside, and a flock in search of meaning. Enter Inside the Cult of the Jesus Army, a two-part documentary that peels back the curtain on the Jesus Fellowship.

Founded in 1970s Northamptonshire by Noel Stanton, the group presented itself as a pious refuge from a wicked world. The archival footage is a trip: rainbow-colored buses, earnest followers in combat jackets, and hymns sung with an unnerving fervor. Stanton himself, with his wispy hair and a smile that never quite reaches his eyes, looks like a man auditioning to be a Bond villain’s less successful brother.

The series immediately establishes its grim trajectory, contrasting the “happy-clappy” public face with the dark reality of psychological cages and unspeakable acts that festered just beneath...

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: If Offered A Role, Should Sofia Mattsson (Sasha) Join Dool Or Y&r?
Image
General Hospital spoilers ask fans if Sofia Mattsson, who recently left the role of Sasha Corbin, was offered a role on another soap, should she go to Dool or Y&r?

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sophia Mattson Left Gh To Pursue Other Opportunities

Sofia Mattsson left Gh to pursue other opportunities, but made it clear that she would definitely be interested in returning someday.

While Mattsson feels that her Gh character has unfinished business in Port Charles, namely with Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), we thought, just for fun, we would ponder this question.

If Mattsson were to join Days of Our Lives, we think she might make a good Abigail Dimera (last played by Marci Miller). Even though Abigail was brutally murdered, it’s still a soap.

There are no rules when it comes to back-from-the-dead storylines on soaps, as no death is ever really final, especially on Days.

That goes double for Days of Our Lives.

Theatrical Comedies Are Dying At The Box Office - Can The Naked Gun Save Them?
Image
Broadly speaking, the box office has been on shaky ground over the last handful of years. Ever since the pandemic shut down theaters all across the world for months on end in 2020, the industry has been in a constant state of flux. Streaming has upended all traditional logic, and Hollywood is increasingly trying to hit a smaller moving target. One of the biggest genres that has become a question mark in the modern era is comedy, specifically of the theatrical variety. The question is, can "The Naked Gun," a new take on the Leslie Nielsen classic, help save comedies at the box office?

As of this writing, director Akiva Schaffer's "The Naked Gun," which is produced by "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, is looking at a debut between $23 and $32 million when it arrives in theaters next weekend, per Box Office Theory. For what it's worth, even on the low end,...

A Brutal Horror Film That “Makes vampires fun and nasty again” Is Now Streaming on Prime Video
Image
I am such a fan of the filmmaking collective Radio Silence. They have demonstrated a mastery of the anthology format as well as feature-length fare. The group first came on our radar via a segment in the 2012 horror anthology V/H/S, and they’ve been at it ever since. Following their arrival on the scene, the collective went on to helm the brilliant horror comedy Ready or Not and the celebrated slasher sequels Scream (2022) and Scream VI.

The group originally started as a foursome, but is now a twosome comprised of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. Despite losing producers Chad Villella and Justin Martinez along the way, the collective has never ceased to impress.

Abigail, a more recent Radio Silence picture, recently made its way onto Prime Video, and that is more than enough reason to spend a moment championing this outlandish and undeniably gruesome effort.

Ben Affleck Almost Adapted One Of Stephen King's Best Fantasy Books
Image
Ben Affleck's directing career has primarily involved him working within the crime and thriller genres, but certain previous projects that ultimately never materialized would have expanded his repertoire. After being cast as the Dark Knight in the DC Extended Universe, Affleck was slated to direct a "Batman" movie, but he bowed out of helming the superhero flick to focus solely on playing Batman instead. That said, his commitments to playing Gotham's Caped Crusader also prohibited Affleck from helming a big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's novel "The Stand" for Warner Bros., which would have allowed him to dip his directorial toes into the fantasy realm.

"The Stand" is a sprawling, ambitious, post-apocalyptic horror tale set in the U.S. following a deadly pandemic. The chaos begins after a patient escapes from a military facility carrying a virus, which eventually spreads and wipes out most of the population. With...

Brendan Fraser Explains What Went Wrong With Tom Cruise's The Mummy Reboot
Image
Brendan Fraser credited The Mummy trilogy's success to its campy comedy, something that was all but scrapped in the 2017 reboot. Reflecting on his films' enduring legacy, the actor also weighed in on Universal's failed attempt at a shared universe of monster IPs.

The Mummy movies had mass appeal because they were swashbuckling comedies, Brendan Fraser told Collider. The actor referred to the first two films in the trilogy in particular: "With the exception of three [The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor], the thing with all of these films is that, at least it was fun, it was a thrill ride, and you wanted to do it again," he explained. Outside of the 2017 reboot, Universal's The Mummy films were all box office hits (including the 1932 original).

The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001) were so successful they spawned a prequel, The Scorpion King (2002), Dwayne Johnson's breakout film. The franchise...

Victor Relosa, Stephanie Raz, Sahara Bernales, and Josh Ivan Morales in Mama's Boy (2024)
Filming kicked off last month on “Crystal Lake,” the upcoming Friday the 13th television series from Peacock and A24 that will serve as an expanded prequel to the legendary slasher franchise. It’s shooting under the faux title “Mama’s Boy,” and showrunner Brad Caleb Kane’s Instagram account has become our go-to source for behind the scenes updates.

Caleb Kane shared a set photo this morning that quite literally takes us into the woods of Crystal Lake, with a cabin seen off in the distance. It almost looks like a shot from the point-of-view of Mrs. Voorhees, who will no doubt be slaying camp counselors in the Peacock series.

Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane captions the photo, “The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I’ve got promises to keep, and folks to kill before I sleep.” Check out the Instagram post below.

Is Days Of Our Lives Teasing Abigail Dimera’s Return? Three Recent Storyline Hints
Image
Days of Our Lives spoilers indicate that while Abigail Dimera (Marci Miller) passed away three years ago, and was killed off in a very final way, it’s hard not to think that she could return to canvas.

Soaps have a way of creatively rewriting a character’s resurrection, and if Will Horton (Chandler Massey) can come back from the dead, then anyone can, right?

Still, the soap seems to be teasing an Abby return with some storyline twists and turns. Here are three recent hints.

1) Commemorating Abigail Dimera’s Passing

The soap recently commemorated Abby’s passing; it’s been three years since the woman was murdered in the Dimera mansion.

Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Horton Dimera (Melissa Reeves) put the idea of Abigail returning to rest, as they have finally “accepted” their daughter is gone for good.

In the land of daytime drama, this almost certifies that she could return,...

Days Stars Spill Tea While Passing That Famous Hourglass
Image
There’s never a dull moment in Days of Our Lives’ Salem. From Xander pulverizing Philip to the mystery of Ej’s shooting, the police department has a lot on its plate. And with the bittersweet return of Bo after John sacrificed his life for a miracle cure for sepsis, the mood in town darkened. However, that darkness was tempered by the joyful wedding of Andrew and Paul. With all that drama going on, the actors took a chance to get silly and let off some steam with some much-needed fun.

The Hourglass Went Round and Round

“We’re passing the hourglass ⏳ Get to know some Salemites!” was written on the official Days Instagram page. Attached was a video that began with Robert Scott Wilson (Alex) holding a plastic hourglass and stating, “I am handing off the hourglass to the best commissioner in Salem.” He tossed it offscreen to Elia Cantu...

Doug Liman to Tackle Stephen King Epic ‘The Stand’ for Paramount (Exclusive)
Image
Paramount Pictures and Doug Liman are taking a stand. The Stand, as a matter of fact.

The studio and the filmmaker are teaming up to adapt Stephen King’s magnum opus. Liman is attached to direct the feature and will produce along with Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek Pictures. The two previously teamed to make the 2017 Tom Cruise crime drama American Made.

The project will now head to writers to pen an adaptation of King’s longest work, with a page count of 1,152. It will instantly become one of the hottest writing assignments in town.

The book, first published in 1978, then revised in 1990, is a bar-setting literary masterpiece that has influenced pop culture, from television shows such as Lost to musical acts such as Metallica to various forms of postapocalyptic literature.

An ambitious story of good versus evil, it takes place in an America after a virus wipes out most...

"Don't Let Abigail See": Stardew Valley Player Discovers Perfect Replica Of Rare Item
Image
Stardew Valley is filled to the brim with iconic items and unique treasures that are easily identifiable with its adorably pixelated art style, often exaggerating an item's visual qualities to make them stand out more. Even if you would be hard-pressed to find some of Stardew Valley's exact items in reality, plenty of players have already made real-life comparisons to the in-game art.

While it's not the first discovery of a similarly styled item, Reddit user thomascentral found a standing geode that bears an incredibly striking resemblance to its in-game counterpart, describing it as "basically 1:1" recreation of the in-game furniture item. The pixelated details in-game leave you to fill in the blanks, but the exaggerated lean and clean-cut base of the real-life geode looks just like the in-game version, making it an excellent, albeit expensive, addition to any Stardew Valley fan's household.

I found a Standing Geode in real...

Scream 7: Everything We Know About the New Sequel
Image
In 2022, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media revived the Scream franchise with a new entry (the fifth) that was a box office hit, earning almost $139 million at the global box office. Fourteen months later, Scream VI came along – and became an even bigger hit, pulling in almost $169 million at the global box office, a number that was up there with the series’ heyday, when the first Scream and Scream 2 made just over $170 million. (Scream 3 also made over $160 million – only Scream 4 failed to crack $100 million.) So, of course, the companies are moving full steam ahead with Scream 7. While the movie seemed, initially, to be on the fast-track to success, the track it’s on has turned out to be a shockingly bumpy ride.

Melissa Barrera Fired

Melissa Barrera entered the franchise with the fifth Scream as a character named Samantha Carpenter, who turns out to have been the...

Here’s Who Should Have Written John’s Obituary On Days of our Lives
Image
John’s obituary became a main topic after his recent death on Days of our Lives, but if you ask us, it wasn’t written by the right person.

Once A Writer

Salem has always been filled with writers, from Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Abigail (Marci Miller), to its latest, Leo (Greg Rikaart). Leo started at The Spectator as Lady Whistleblower, and now works as the paper’s investigative reporter. So when the time came for John’s (the late Drake Hogestyn) obituary, the job automatically went to Leo.

Read This: Days casting surprise! The Young and the Restless’ Conner Floyd is the new Chad.

Granted, Leo did have a connection with John, once believing he was his father. But the actual Salemite who had the closest relationship with John and a way with words is Will (Chandler Massey).

Will has become an established writer, his most notable work being A Very Salem Christmas.

Image
Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates reveal soap fans can look forward to seeing actor Billy Flynn (Chad Dimera) twice as much for the next six months.

He revealed in March that he would be leaving Dool for an intriguing role on the CBS soap opera The Young and The Restless.

There May Be Two Contenders For The Role Of Chad Dimera

Billy made his debut this week on the CBS soap, but he’ll be appearing on-screen on Days for quite some time—as a matter of fact, almost an entire year.

The Peacock soap has been filming nine months ahead for at least a year now. Considering how significant Chad Dimera is on Days, fans believe it’s probable that the role will be recast-the question is, with whom?

Internet detectives have spotted some intriguing social media activity that appears to suggest who might be stepping in for Billy Flynn,...

What Can Fans Expect From Days of Our Lives on June 23, 2025? (Photo Credit – X)

The previous week on Days of Our Lives, Philip woke up and claimed that Xander was not the one who beat him up. Meanwhile, the youngsters graduated from high school, while Bo and Hope left on their new adventure. Marlena was worried after seeing Rachel have dreams about a shooting.

The drama will escalate this week with arrests, plotting, ultimatums, and big warnings. Here’s what the audience can expect from the June 23, 2025, episode of Days of Our Lives when they tune in to Peacock to stream the long-running daytime drama revolving around Salem, Illinois, residents.

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: June 23, 2025

The first episode of the week sees Ej vowing to protect Johnny. He does have the memory of the night of the shooting and was keeping it under wraps all this time. He saw Johnny holding a gun,...

Days of Our Lives Spoilers For The Week of 6-23-25 Include An Arrest For Ej’s Shooting, But Not Until After Some Well-Deserved Happiness
Image
The first rule of life in Salem is that whoever the police arrest for a serious crime is innocent… at least the first five or six times.

Days of our Lives spoilers for the week of 6-23-25 promise that Rachel’s secret will come out, resulting in Johnny getting arrested for trying to kill Ej.

Fortunately, the legal drama won’t happen until after Andrew and Paul’s wedding, which will give us all a much-needed break from the heaviness of John’s death.

(Screenshot/Peacock) Andrew and Paul’s Wedding May Be Rushed, But At Least It’s A Happy Occasion

I’d be more excited for the wedding if the grooms had been on-screen more consistently in the lead-up.

They popped up in Salem after a long absence to help say goodbye to John, originally planning to have their wedding once he recovered and was out of the hospital.

After 18 Years, ‘28 Years Later’ Is Underwhelming Audiences on Rotten Tomatoes and Cinemascore
Image
The hotly anticipated three-quel 28 Years Later debuted theatrically this weekend, nearly two decades after the franchise's last installment. The movie unites director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland, who also worked together on the series' debut film, 28 Days Later. Produced on a reported budget of $60 million, the third installment opened to positive reviews and solid box-office reception, but audiences that checked it out on opening day weren't entirely pleased with its radical storytelling. The movie has earned mediocre responses from crowds on several aggregator platforms.

28 Years Later currently holds a 67% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, which stands in contrast to its far more positive 90% critics' score on the website. It also earned a disappointing B CinemaScore from opening day crowds, which is just about okay for an R-rated horror movie, but on the lower end of the spectrum for a franchise picture. By comparison, Ryan Coogler's...

28 Years Later's CinemaScore Revealed - But Can That Or Elio Dethrone How To Train Your Dragon At Box Office?
Image
It's another big weekend for new releases, but none of them will quite manage to dethrone How to Train Your Dragon. According to Deadline, 28 Years Later earned $14 million at the North American box office on Friday for an expected $28 million - $30 million opening weekend.

That's a decent result, and one that places it in front of 2022's Scream and last year's Longlegs. However, with the live-action How to Train Your Dragon still proving a big draw for audiences, 28 Years Later won't top its expected $35.2 million haul.

Not helping Danny Boyle's long-awaited 28 Days Later follow-up is a B CinemaScore. That's on par with the likes of Abigail, M3GAN, and Smile 2, but below this year's breakout horror hit, Sinners.

Why the lower-than-expected score after receiving 90% on Rotten Tomatoes (its audience score is 67%)? It may have something to do with that divisive, controversial ending.

The pressure is on 28 Years Later to deliver.

Abigail Breslin, Booboo Stewart to Star in Dramedy Movie ‘A Good Fight’ (Exclusive)
Image
Booboo Stewart, Abigail Breslin and Aaron Kuban are set to star in a movie about an interview gone awry.

The performers have been cast to lead director Robert Rippberger’s drama-comedy feature A Good Fight, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. The indie film has a script from Pierce Gardner (Dan in Real Life), and producers include Justin Shaner and Fernando H. Rojas for Sobe Brooke Studios.

A Good Fight centers on a thriving small-town businessman whose interview with a college journalist ends up impacting both of their lives. The movie’s tone is compared to that of It’s a Wonderful Life as the lead character figures out how to navigate his best path.

Production is set to begin later this month. The project will shoot in part at Rippberger’s White Lightning Studios in North Carolina, with some scenes set to film at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.

‘Crystal Lake’ Begins Filming Under the Cheeky Title ‘Mama’s Boy’
Brad Kane
Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane has announced today that filming is now officially underway on “Crystal Lake,” the upcoming Friday the 13th television series from Peacock and A24 that will serve as an expanded prequel to the legendary slasher franchise. The series, it’s amusing to note, is shooting under the faux title “Mama’s Boy,” which seems only fitting!

Brad Caleb Kane captions a behind the scenes photo shared out on his Instagram page this afternoon (below), “Production Day 1. It’s real, folks.” Stay tuned for more updates.

The episode currently in production is directed by Michael Lennox (“Derry Girls”), with the slate listing Maceo Bishop as the cinematographer.

Linda Cardellini stars in “Crystal Lake” as Mrs. Voorhees, who was of course the killer in the original Friday the 13th (1980). She’s joined by William Catlett (Abigail), Cameron Scoggins (“Nashville”), Devin Kessler (“Godfather of Harlem”), and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Scoggins will play Dorf,...

Days of our Lives spoilers for Monday, June 23, continue with Ej’s determination to protect Johnny from any and all consequences of his actions. Even when those actions include shooting his father.

16 Years After the Last ‘Friday the 13th’ Movie, ‘Crystal Lake’ Gets a Jason-Sized Filming Update
Image
Well horror fans, the day has finally come. After the pure production hell and misfortune that seemed to plague Crystal Lake, also known as the Friday the 13th prequel series, its showrunner, Brad Caleb Kane, took to social media to share an extraordinary update — filming has begun. Sharing an image of a clapperboard along with the title’s code name, Mama’s Boy, Kane wrote “Production Day 1. It’s real folks.” It sure is real, and we can’t wait to see the slasher back on screen after 16 — that’s right, sixteen — years. Also included on the board was the name of the episode’s director, Michael Lennox, who previously stood at the helm of television shows like Say Nothing and Derry Girls.

This won’t be your typical Friday the 13th installment in which Jason Vorhees dons a hockey mask and chops down a hoard of unsuspecting victims. As the name suggests,...

‘Abigail Before Beatrice’ Review – An Unsettling Look at the Psychological Impact of Being in a Cult
Image
There are many different reasons why people join cults. Some people feel like their lives are missing something; their childhood and family life might have been dysfunctional; they’re seeking a sense of community; or they’re psychologically vulnerable. For many people, joining a cult leads to exploitation and control, and even psychological or sexual abuse, by the cult leader. They are forced to give up their belongings and cut ties with the people in their lives. In addition to the reasons why people join cults, there is the question of why they choose to stay in a situation that is not fulfilling their needs and instead is usually predatory.

Written and directed by Cassie Keets (Scream Therapy), Abigail Before Beatrice explores the very different experiences of two women, who meet while in a cult, and the lasting effects it has on their lives. Even though the cult has been dissolved,...

Invisible Son: Ignoring JJ Is the One Major Mistake In Jack and Jennifer’s Return on Days of Our Lives
Image
Jack and Jennifer’s visit to Salem was too short.

I’ve always loved this Days of Our Lives couple. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a journalist because Jennifer was.

But why the heck are Jack and Jennifer ignoring JJ now that he’s back in town?

(Screenshot/Peacock) Mourning Abigail Makes Sense, but Did Jack and Jennifer Forget They Have Another Child?

JJ has been missing in action since before his parents came to town. But the way Days of Our Lives ignored his existence once they landed was ridiculous.

Jennifer was disappointed that JJ wasn’t home when she first came in, but Jack said that it was okay because he had to go visit the paper anyway — and that was the last time either of them mentioned their son.

Ostenibly, they were in Salem to attend John’s funeral and offer comfort and support to Marlena.

Steve’s UnRetirement, Jack’s Birthday, Adrienne’s Message on June 16 Days
Image
In the Monday, June 16 episode of Days of Our Lives, Philip woke up and he told Jada that it wasn’t Xander who gave him the beatdown. And while the Johnson/Deveraux families were grieving John, they also had reason to celebrate and reflect.

Happy 40th Anniversary, Stephen Nichols Adrienne’s Message

Unfortunately, Adrienne (loved seeing Judi Evans return as her Og character) wasn’t one of those back-from-the-dead miracles that always happen in Salem. Instead, she tells Steve (Stephen Nichols) that she’s with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) and she’s going to do her best to take care of him. This news comforted her brother.

Later, Steve had a crazy good flashback of the time Adrienne revealed to Steve that she was his sister. The Johnson family history is complicated, brutal, and dramatic, so seeing that particular flashback was wonderful. It was such a long time ago!
