The killer Santa is back. Over forty years since it first outraged audiences and delighted horror fans, Silent Night, Deadly Night is being reimagined for a new generation. Slated to open in US cinemas on 12 December 2025, the remake stars Halloween Ends actor Rohan Campbell in the role of Billy Chapman, the traumatised orphan turned axe-wielding Christmas avenger.
Directed and written by Wrong Turn’s Mike P. Nelson, the new film arrives via Cineverse, whose recent output includes the Terrifier franchise. The teaser trailer, released over Comic-Con weekend, leans heavily into the retro slasher aesthetic of its predecessor, while promising a slick, modern approach to the festive carnage.
The original Silent Night, Deadly Night, released in 1984, caused a national controversy due to its marketing, which prominently featured a killer dressed as Father Christmas. Despite being pulled from theatres after just one week, the low-budget shocker became a cult success, earning $2.5 million and spawning four sequels.

In 2025, Santa Claus gets really naughty, and will stop at nothing until he slashes and dices every helpless victim he can find. The remake of the 1980s cult classic Silent Night, Deadly Night is set to be released this December, and there's already a teaser trailer that offers a glimpse of the unrated Christmas horror movie. No, this year we won't have the most wonderful time of the year.
The teaser trailer was revealed by Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting during the San Diego Comic-Con, specifically on the "Bold Voices of Contemporary Horror" panel that took place yesterday. Since then, the trailer for Silent Night, Deadly Night was posted online for the satisfaction of horror hounds who like their holiday season to be less jolly and more gory. Judging from the trailer, it is safe to say that the Christmas horror feature might be one of the most unhinged and violent of the year.

It didn't cause too much of a stir when it was released in 2001, and critics weren't exactly blown away by it, but Ivan Reitman's sci-fi comedy film "Evolution" is actually lighthearted and fun. The film follows a team of nerdy, bickersome scientists, played by David Duchovny, Orlando Jones, and Julianne Moore, and a firefighter played by Seann William Scott, as they investigate a mysterious meteor that landed in the deserts of Arizona. The meteor contains remnants of extraterrestrial spores that they learn are evolving at a breakneck pace. It takes only days for the microbes to evolve into fungus, then flatworms, then fish. It won't be too long before vertebrates appear, followed by primates.

Audiences these days have truly grown to love the terrifying presence of horror in their holidays. Whether it be Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, the Yuletide season, or even St. Patrick's Day, the number of holiday-themed horror movies has increased over the past few decades. Despite its growing popularity, though, it was a controversial theme back then. In fact, when Silent Night, Deadly Night hit theaters in 1984, a conservative group of parents found the feature offensive for tarnishing the image of their beloved Saint Nick. But that’s not to say the movie hasn’t had its brighter days; it has even found its rightful viewers several years later and is now deemed a cult classic. Now, with the movie confirmed to be receiving a modern reboot, Deadline has unveiled the first image of Rohan Campbell as the new Billy Chapman — a role first played by Robert Brian Wilson.

Four years have gone by since we heard that Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios, the folks behind Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, were going to be making a reboot of the classic Christmas slasher movie Silent Night, Deadly Night (watch it Here), and while those plans didn’t work out and Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios are no longer involved, a remake is still moving forward. Last November, we learned that the film will be coming our way from Cineverse, the company behind the Terrifier franchise, with writer/director Mike P. Nelson at the helm. With the holiday season in full swing, people are watching their favorite Christmas classics, like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Miracle on 34th Street, Die Hard, and others. A more recent classic is Elf, the unexpected 2003 hit film starring Will Ferrell and directed by Jon Favreau. It's a highly quotable movie and full of fun and memorable scenes. One was supposed to be a quick, one-liner moment that ended up becoming a fan favorite. But Favreau had to fight to keep the scene in after the producers wanted to cut it.
The scene in question is when Buddy Elf (Ferrell) is sent to the mailroom by his biological father, Walter (played memorably by James Caan) to essentially get out of the way. While there, Buddy meets the way-older-than-he-looks "Mailroom Guy," played by character actor Mark Acheson. Elf is one of those Christmas classics that fans love to rewatch and quote more than 20 years after it first premiered.
In it, Will Ferrell plays Buddy, a human who is adopted and raised by an elf before returning to New York City to reconnect with his human father.
We’re still learning more about the iconic movie. For instance, this year we learned that one of the movie’s most memorable lines was improvised and nearly cut from the film.

Actor Mark Acheson made a very brief cameo in the movie and is only credited as “Mailroom Guy.” However, his scene with Will instantly stood out.
In it, Mark claims that he is only 26 and has “nothing” to show for his life.
“You’re young, you’re so young,” Will replies.
Speaking to People, Mark revealed that he was brought on to deliver a single line.

A few days after enlisting enigmatic witch Boro (Catherine Keener) to put a curse on a director who’s wronged her, young filmmaker Lisa Nova (Rosa Salazar) is sick of throwing up slimy, mewling kittens as a consequence. “No!” she practically growls, staring Boro down. “No more throwing up kittens!”
Boro shrugs, less than bothered. “Fine, no more throwing up kittens,” she says as she steps back into the shadows, disappearing into the lush jungle that’s overtaken her Los Angeles home. Lisa’s temporarily mollified — until she experiences the bodily result of that request, which is, to say the least, far worse than any of her previous retching. Resigned, she sighs. “Tell her I’ll go back to puking,” Lisa says to Boro’s stupefied lackey (Mark Acheson), who can only grunt in response as he shuffles away.

With help from a (witch?)crafty Catherine Keener, a young female director campaigns to “curse” out a shady producer in the full trailer for Netflix‘s Brand New Cherry Flavor.
Premiering — a bit fittingly — on Friday the 13th (of August), the horror thriller stars Rosa Salazar (Undone, Parenthood) as Lisa Nova, a filmmaker who heads to Hollywood in the early ‘90s to make a movie, only to clearly be let down by her producer (played by Perry Mason‘s Eric Lange). After that, Lisa “tumbles down a hallucinatory rabbit hole of sex, magic, revenge — and kittens,” the official synopsis reads.

Starz released a trailer for its new wrestling drama “Heels,” which will premiere on Aug. 15 at 9 p.m.
Set in a close-knit community in Georgia, “Heels” follows the people of a small town who chase their dreams in the world of independent professional wrestling. It centers on a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, one must play the good guy and the other their nemesis, otherwise known as “the heel.” In the real world, these characters prove difficult to live up to — or hard to leave behind.
Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig portray the set of siblings, older brother Jack Spade and younger brother Ace Spade, respectively. The cast also includes Alison Liff, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, James Harrison and Chris Bauer.
“Heels” is executive produced by writer Michael Waldron, Mike O’Malley, Julie Yorn, Christopher Donnelly,...

"Fargo" just concluded its second season with a finale (click here for my review) that made several overt references to characters and events from season 1, but also drew an obscure but ultimately unmistakable line from one character this year to someone from last year. If you don't want to know, don't click through, but if you want to find out how it's all connected, I'll tell you just as soon as I talk to Dale from Hr... So as Hanzee is preparing for his new life as Moses Tripoli, and a new face to go with it, he tells his contact that he will have his revenge on Kansas City, no matter how heavily-guarded the leadership there may be, or how his own would-be empire might end up one day. "Not apprehend, dead. Don't care heavily-guarded. Don't care into the sea. Kill and be killed. Head in a bag," he pronounces,...

Winning an Oscar on your first nomination is a fairly common occurrence. Just last year rookie nominee Christian Bale won Supporting Actor for "The Fighter" while freshman contender Tom Hooper claimed Best Director for helming "The King's Speech." However, keeping that perfect record intact has proven difficult for most nominees. Sound engineer Mark Berger holds the Oscars record with four wins and no losses. Among those who went three for three are costumer Mark Acheson, art director/costumer Cecil Beaton, documentarian Jacques Cousteau, composers Giorgio Moroder and producer Saul Zaentz (above). Composer Howard Shore is also a three-peater and he contends this year for his "Hugo" score. Four women won both their Best Actress bids. The first of these was Luise Rainer who won back-to-back Oscars in 1936 ("The Great Ziegfeld") and 1937 ("The Good Earth") To find out who the oth...
