Image
Exclusive: Linden Entertainment has signed bestselling author and screenwriter May Cobb for management.

Known for works of suspense, Cobb most famously wrote the novel The Hunting Wives, which Netflix recently launched as a series exec produced by Cobb, after picking up exclusive U.S. rights during the Starz-Lionsgate separation agreement.

Published by Penguin Random House in 2021, the book is a psychological thriller centered on Sophie O’Neill, a former journalist who moves back to her wealthy Texas hometown with her family after a series of personal setbacks, becoming captivated by a group of women known for their upscale lifestyle, social gatherings, and their obsession with hunting.

Since premiering on July 21, The Hunting Wives has remained a Top Ten Television Show for Netflix and racked up billions of minutes viewed, per Luminate data, doing particularly impressive numbers for a show that’s only streaming domestically.

Why Christopher Nolan Stopped A Robin Spinoff From Ever Taking Flight In The Dark Knight Universe?
Image
Why Christopher Nolan Stopped Robin Project In Batman Trilogy ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

The Dark Knight changed the entire discourse of the superhero movies in the 2000’s. It was largely due to the man behind the lens, Christopher Nolan, whose direction did not just boost the fading image of the Batman, but paved the way for more darker and grounded comic book movies that followed.

Even when the studios were behind cinematic universes and crossover dreams, Nolan kept his focus tight where the Silent Guardian of Gotham was not part of a larger web. Nolan’s masterpiece had no cameos, or shared timelines and worst of all, endless sequels. It was simple- the franchise started and ended on his terms.

With the release of the new Superman film, Rachel Brosnahan joins a legendary list of actresses who have portrayed Lois Lane. The character’s legacy includes Margot Kidder’s unforgettable performance in the Christopher Reeve movies, modern big-screen portrayals by Kate Bosworth and Amy Adams, and TV favorites such as Teri Hatcher (Lois & Clark), Erica Durance (Smallville), and Bitsie Tulloch (Superman & Lois). Across film and television, Lois Lane remains one of pop culture’s most enduring and celebrated icons.

Now, it’s Brosnahan’s turn — and for the Emmy-winning actress, the opportunity was nothing short of surreal.

While promoting the film, Rachel Brosnahan described how surreal it felt to step into the role of Lois Lane. She grew up watching Margot Kidder in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies and admired her portrayal for its sharpness,...

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rejection From This Popular ’90s Show May Have Saved His Career — Here’s How!
Image
Which Popular ’90s Show Rejected Leonardo DiCaprio?(Photo Credit –Facebook)

Baywatch could have changed everything for Leonardo DiCaprio. You see, before Titanic, before the Oscar runs and before he became a face of Hollywood, DiCaprio was almost part of the sun-soaked TV world of lifeguards and slow-mo runs.

In the early ‘90s, the Titanic star nearly got the role of Hobie Buchannon in Baywatch. He was only 15 at the time, which is certainly young, but he had already caught the attention in casting rooms. The studio considered him seriously, but things did not go his way.

David Hasselhoff Allegedly Blocked Leonardo DiCaprio From Joining Baywatch

David Hasselhoff, the show’s central star, was apparently not sold. As per Screenrant, he felt DiCaprio would make him look too old if cast as his son, and that hesitation, whether about age, looks, or ego, pushed the decision the other way. Jeremy Jackson,...

When Man Of Steel Star Amy Adams Was Surprised By Henry Cavill’s Personality, Contrary To His Strong Physique: “I Expected A Lot Of Swagger From Him…”

Amy Adams Once Shared Her Thoughts On Henry Cavill As Superman ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Daily Actorle Solution for Today
Image
Waking up to a fresh daily puzzle lineup every morning has become part of my routine, and if you’re anything like me, the rush of cracking those daily Actorle games is equal parts satisfying and maddening.

For August 2’s Actorle challenges, the maker brought in quite the lineup of brain-ticklers across all four modes: Actorle, Fill The Grid, Storyboard, and StarWords. And in case you find yourself stuck anywhere, the following are all the answers I was able to figure out for the day:

Actorle Solution for Today The answer for Actorle on August 2 is Jean-Claude Van Damme | Credit: Actorle/ Fandomwire

August 2’s Actorle felt like a throwback to the 90s, because that’s when the mystery actor for the day peaked the most. His filmography, which began back in 1986, helped me narrow it down to an action star, and it was not long before I figured it out.

Charles Busch Reacts To ‘Psycho Beach Party’ Joining Criterion: “Kind Of Wild”
Image
After 25 years, a far-out queer cult classic by Charles Busch is getting the Criterion treatment this month.

The Psycho Beach Party creator and star recently reacted to the 2000 beach party parody joining the Criterion Channel this month in honor of its 25th anniversary, reflecting on the “kind of wild” journey from its 1987 off-Broadway origins.

“It’s funny, it started off as a spoof of beach party movies, and the more I worked on it, I thought there was a little more to it,” he told IndieWire. “That maybe it is a little bit personal about how, when you’re young, and you don’t quite know who you are, and you feel like you’re a different person with your parents, your friends, at your school, it’s a bit of a metaphor for that.”

Busch added, “I believe the Criterion Collection has taken on the movie. I was just looking through their catalogue and,...

‘Psycho Beach Party’ Turns 25: A Surf-Girl, ’50s Pastiche Cult Classic Readies for a New Generation
Image
You may have seen “Psycho Beach Party,” director Robert Lee King and writer Charles Busch’s wickedly funny send-up of classic Hollywood, while surfing on late-night cable channels in the early aughts. Based on Busch’s own play from 1987, which was itself inspired by Frederick Kohner’s late-’50s Gidget character and her initiation into surf culture, “Psycho Beach Party” is exactly as the title sounds: part slasher, part beach movie, and all pastiche and split-personality.

That’s apropos, as a then little-known, pre-“Six Feet Under” Lauren Ambrose plays Florence, aka Chicklet, a schizoid who becomes the prime suspect in a series of comically mounting beachside murders. She plays the role as a careening cross between Tallulah Bankhead and Sandra Dee — who of course originated Gidget, the original wannabe surf girl, onscreen in 1959. Screenwriter Busch, who, gay and in his 30s, played the 16-year-old teenage girl Gidget — sorry, Chicklet...

30 Highest Rated Movies of All Time, Ranked According to Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
There are plenty of movies that deserve to be universally praised. Maybe the casting is flawless, the story hits all the right notes, and the direction is top-tier. Fans walk away loving it, quoting it, rewatching it. But do the critics always agree? Not really. A film can have all the right ingredients and still miss the mark with critics.

Just look at something like Heat with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, or David Fincher’s Zodiac starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Both are modern classics in the eyes of fans, yet they’re not exactly topping the Rotten Tomatoes charts.

To truly earn a high Rotten Tomatoes score, a movie has to land with both audiences and critics alike. It has to offer something special, whether it’s a bold story, unforgettable characters, or a fresh take that no one saw coming. Some movies do just that, crushing it at...

The 'Superman' Cast Is Earning Double What Henry Cavill Made for 'Man of Steel'
Image
One week has passed since Superman hit theaters, and it’s safe to say the Dcu launch has been a hit for Warner Bros. The first film under James Gunn’s creative control soared to over $220 million worldwide over its first weekend and is continuing to break barriers, now flying towards the $300 million mark. For a big-budget feature with a lot of pressure riding on it, given all the plans for DC’s future, however, the salaries have appeared on the modest side for its stars. According to a Variety report, Gunn himself got the biggest paycheck at $15 million, 20 times what the new Clark Kent and Lois Lane, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, made at $750,000 apiece. It may not seem like a lot when compared to superhero salaries nowadays, but for a franchise starter, their totals are roughly in line with past Supermen and other comic book movie stars.

Compared to their direct predecessors,...

Prime Video’s Most Iconic Isla Fisher Film Was Rejected by Reese Witherspoon for a Petty Reason
Image
Before Isla Fisher became the face of one of Prime Video‘s most re-watched rom-coms, another Hollywood blonde nearly stole the spotlight. Confessions of a Shopaholic, now considered Fisher’s most iconic movie, was first offered to Reese Witherspoon. But surprisingly, Witherspoon rejected the role for what might seem like a legit reason.

She thought it was too similar to her legendary turn as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. However, that decision paved the way for Fisher’s Hollywood breakthrough. Though not everyone agreed it was a better movie, it turned a chick-lit adaptation into a defining moment in Fisher’s filmography.

12 Superman Weaknesses That Don't Involve Kryptonite
Image
James Gunn's "Superman" is, above all else, an unbelievably refreshing film. It breathed new life not only into the character (with enormous assistance from a perfectly cast David Corenswet), but into the DC Comics brand and the superhero subgenre at large.

One of the most distinct departures Gunn took with his narrative was its exploration of Superman's humanity. It's a deceptively difficult task for a character with godlike abilities, especially after those abilities were emphasized in Zack Snyder's films, which inarguably played a major role in shaping the contemporary perception of what makes Superman special.

To many, he's an extraterrestrial deity whose only vulnerability is Kryptonite, a glowing rock as alien to us as he is. This is far from true -- and, as Gunn showcases to a surprisingly exhaustive extent in his film, the Man of Steel is vulnerable to many of the same things as the people he protects.

Taika Waititi in Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Taika Waititi set to direct new Judge Dredd movie
Taika Waititi in Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
THR reports that Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) is set to direct a new Judge Dredd movie, with Drew Pearce (The Fall Guy) attached to write the script. Sources told the outlet that Waititi and Pearce are both big fans of the original character created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra, and have been looking for a project to work on together for years. It seems Judge Dredd is that project.

The logline for this new project is being kept under wraps, but the pitch is said to draw more inspiration from the comics than from the previous big-screen adaptations. It will lean into world-building and dark humour, but is also meant to be a fun sci-fi blockbuster. As you might expect, those involved have hopes that this project could launch a Dredd universe with sequels, spinoffs, and TV shows.

Judge Dredd has been given the big-screen treatment before.

Taika Waititi to Direct ‘Judge Dredd’ Movie
Image
Taika Waititi, the Oscar-winning filmmaker of “Jojo Rabbit” and two “Thor” movies, has set sights on his next project.

He’s attached to direct “Judge Dredd,” a feature film about the British comic book character, Variety has confirmed. Drew Pearce, known for “Fall Guy” and “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” will adapt the screenplay. The project doesn’t have a studio attached and is being shopped around Hollywood.

Created in the 1970s by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra, Judge Dredd is a law enforcement and judicial officer in the dystopian metropolis of Mega-City One. Often a satire of American and British culture, the character has bionic eyes and is empowered to serve as judge, jury and executioner in the fascist society. He first appeared in the pages of the weekly British anthology comic “2000 Ad.”

The character made his big-screen debut in 1995’s big-budget flop “Judge Dredd,” starring Sylvester Stallone.

Zack Snyder's $670 Million Blockbuster That Rebooted a Universe Finds New Life on Streaming
Image
DC Comics is getting a new franchise with James Gunn's DC Universe, which has officially kicked off with Superman. However, before the new franchise, it was Zack Snyder's time to shine.

In 2013, Snyder was at the helm of another film that rebooted the universe: Man of Steel. The film came after the success of Christopher Nolan's critically acclaimed The Dark Knight trilogy, and kicked off the DC Extended Universe, which lasted for a decade until 2023. Although there's a new Superman out in theaters, Man of Steel has found a new life on streaming, enjoying a newfound popularity on HBO Max, FlixPatrol reports.

Man of Steel is currently in seventh place on Max's global Top 10, just ahead of Grown Ups 2, Anora, and 21 Jump Street. The film's popularity is not surprising because the Snyderverse, which is what Zack Snyder's vision during his time at Warner Bros. is called,...

Image
Angus MacLachlan is back directing for the big screen with drama “A Little Prayer.” The feature, which debuted at Sundance 2023, is thematically in line with MacLachlan’s former films, all family dramas: The filmmaker wrote “Junebug” and made his directorial debut with “Goodbye to All that” in 2013.

“A Little Prayer” stars David Strathairn as a father struggling to figure out how to guide his adult children without interfering in their lives. Yet after he discovers that his daughter-in-law (Jane Levy) may be in trouble, he can’t stand by any longer.

12 Years Later, This Controversial Comic Sci-Fi That Divided a Fanbase Is a Streaming Hit
Image
With James Gunn's Superman remake impressing critically and commercially, one of the most polarizing movies chronicling the titular hero has become a high-flier in the streaming world. The DC Extended Universe's Man of Steel has made its way onto the HBO Max charts 12 years after its debut.

Per Flix Patrol, Zack Snyder's Man of Steel is currently in seventh place on the HBO Max Top 10 global movie chart. The superheor film is ranked ahead of the recent Oscar-winning drama, Anora, Tyrese Gibson's 1992 and Adam Sandler's Grown Ups 2. The chart still sees Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan's supernatural thriller, Sinners, on top after multiple weeks.

The movie that kicked off the ill-fated Dceu remains a divisive film among comic book fans. Man of Steel sees Henry Cavill step into the role of Clark Kent as he learns of his Kryptonian heritage and becomes Superman,...

Every Metahuman Featured in Superman, Explained
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Spoiler Alert for Superman!

The DC Universe is evolving—and with James Gunn at the helm, it’s rewriting more than just backstories. One of the most intriguing concepts to resurface in the new Superman film is the idea of “metahumans.” But don’t expect the same old definition of superpowered beings born from freak accidents or alien DNA.

Taking on Threads during the release of character posters, prior to Superman‘s release, James Gunn clarified what metahumans are. He said that the status doesn’t rely solely on godlike strength or radioactive mishaps—it can stem from sheer brilliance, magical origins, tech enhancements, or intense training.

In DC Comics, a metahuman is a human-like being with extraordinary, often paranormal, abilities. These powers can arise from a variety of sources, including science, magic, alien origins, mutation, divinity, proficiency, or technology.

Therefore 4 is probably not a metahuman but Terrific arguably is.

‘Superman’ Stars David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan Met Moments Before Chemistry Read
Image
For David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, their chemistry read as Clark Kent and Lois Lane — or Superman and Lois Lane — was over and done as quickly as it started.

Corenswet told People that he met “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” Emmy winner “in sort of a flurry of handshakes and hellos.” It was summer 2023, Brosnahan had flown into Los Angeles from New York City, and she was due back for a performance of “The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window” on Broadway.

“We said a quick hello, and he was… very nice and very tall, and we read the scene together,” Brosnahan told People. The scene in question, Corenswet remembered, was on the long side, 10-12 pages, and ended up being shot again for the final film.

“Neither of us quite knew what we were doing,” he said. “We had each done the scene with other people, so we weren’t...

Dcu's Lois Lane Star Has Super Hopes for Her Character's Superman Sequel Story
Image
Superman star Rachel Brosnahan wants to see Lois Lane get superpowers in the Dcu's future, possibly in a sequel. Rachel Brosnahan steps into the iconic role of Lois Lane, a part previously played in live-action by Noel Neill, Phyllis Coates, Margot Kidder, Teri Hatcher, Erica Durance, Kate Bosworth, Amy Adams, and Elizabeth Tulloch. Lois Lane is often the star reporter for the Daily Planet and is one of the most important non-superpowered characters in comics. Yet, multiple comics have featured Lois Lane gaining superpowers for a brief period of time, something the Dcu star hopes to see.

Answering questions for Wired's Most Googled Superman Questions, one asked if Lois Lane ever gains superpowers. Brosnahan cited All-Star Superman #3, where Lois receives powers for a day on her birthday, and James Gunn noted in the current run of DC Comics, Lois Lane has powers. Brosnahan asked Gunn if he was inspired by these comics,...

Superman's Reported Cast Salaries Confirm One Actor Was Paid More Than David Corenswet
Image
David Corenswet might be the titular super guy in James Gunn's 2025 "Superman" movie, but according to a report from Matt Belloni at Puck News, he's not the highest paid member of the main cast.

This could be perceived as somewhat scandalous, because the report claims that Corenswet, who plays Clark Kent in the movie, was paid $750,000 -- the same amount as his Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" fame) -- while Nicholas Hoult, who's been a big-screen staple for decades at this point, netted the highest salary of the main cast with a reported $2 million. As Belloni says, though, it's important to note that all three of the "Superman" stars could get some pretty big bonuses if their movie blows everyone away at the box office.

It's also important to underline the fact that both Corenswet and Brosnahan are television actors who are, as Belloni put it,...

‘Superman’ vs ‘Man of Steel’: The Definitive Comparison of Who Did It Better
Image
James Gunn’s Superman has been released to the world, and the reviews have been great. Although many doubted Gunn’s capabilities for handling such a big IP (including me), the director has proved himself again with his abilities and the will to run the Dcu.

After watching Superman, we couldn’t help but compare Gunn’s take on the classic superhero vs. Zack Snyder’s version in his 2013 film Man of Steel. Well, here’s the definitive comparison about the two Supermans and which of the two directors did it better.

1. David Corenswet vs Henry Cavill: The Better Superman David Corenswet in a still from Superman | Credits: DC Studios

I was one of those people who thought that no one could ever beat Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Superman in Zack Snyder’s Dceu. However, looking at the James Gunn flick, I think that David Corenswet is indeed...

Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight Review — An Honest and Powerful Coming-of-Age Story
Image
Embeth Davidtz, the director of Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight, is one of the most underrated actors of her generation, and now she emerges as a promising filmmaker. Davidtz appeared in everything from Schindler’s List to The Amazing Spider-Man, and a standout turn in Junebug—a much more challenging role, though it was overshadowed by Amy Adams’s performance, which was like lightning in a bottle.

Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight is a complex and thoughtful exploration of the tensions surrounding identity—and, perhaps most importantly, what it means to be human. This is especially true in how the film examines the way some shape the next generation’s view of the world through prejudice and bias, revealing how such influences remain timeless.

Nicholas Hoult Made More on ‘Superman’ Than Both Rachel Brosnahan and David Corenswet Combined
Image
The new Superman movie just hit theaters, and while people are talking about the action and the characters, there’s another big topic going around: the salaries of the cast.

Nicholas Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor, got the biggest paycheck. He was paid $2 million for the role, according to Puck News. That’s more than what David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan made combined. Corenswet, who plays Superman, and Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane, each earned $750,000. Their contracts also include extra bonuses if the movie makes good money at the box office.

This isn’t really surprising. Corenswet is pretty new to big movies, and while Brosnahan is known for her work on TV, she hasn’t had a big film role until now. Hoult, on the other hand, has been in a bunch of major movies, so his higher salary makes sense.

Director James Gunn went for a different kind of cast with this film.

Nicholas Hoult Was Paid More for ‘Superman’ Than Rachel Brosnahan and David Corenswet… Combined
Image
The new Superman movie has officially landed in theaters, and while fans are talking about the story and the action, there’s also a lot of buzz around how much the actors were paid. Nicholas Hoult, who plays the villain Lex Luthor, reportedly made $2 million for the role. That makes him the highest-paid actor in the film.

David Corenswet, who wears the Superman cape, was paid $750,000. The same goes for Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane. Both of them have deals that include bonus money if the movie does well at the box office.

This kind of deal is pretty common for newer stars taking on big roles. Corenswet is still considered a fresh face in film, and while Brosnahan is known from TV, she hasn’t had major movie roles before this. Hoult’s paycheck for the movie was first reported by Puck News.

Director James Gunn didn’t...
