Revisiting The Nightmarish Made-For-tv Musical Version Of Pinocchio Starring Drew Carey And Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Image
On September 8, 2022, Robert Zemeckis' live-action adaptation of the Walt Disney animated classic "Pinocchio" comes to Disney+. It is yet another entry in the House of Mouse's ongoing attempt to remake their classic animated films, repackaging them with a new veneer. Yes, it is easy to decry the increased commodification of art, the lack of originality from a studio once known for innovation, and crassly utilizing the work of talented artists in service of keeping people subscribed to a streaming service. However, we know it will at least be better than the last time Disney took the classic "Pinocchio" story to a live-action arena.

On May 7, 2000, as part of "The Wonderful World of Disney," ABC aired "Geppetto," an original movie musical that took the story of "Pinocchio" and told it from the perspective of the puppet boy's creator/father, starring one of the company's biggest stars at the time in the titular role: Drew Carey.

Let Me In Sends MovieWeb a Postcard from New Mexico
Over the weekend we were sent a bizarre postcard from Los Alamos, New Mexico from someone young (a 12-year old perhaps?) with a message that appears to be encoded in morse code. Putting two and two together we realized that Los Alamos is the city that Matt Reeves upcoming remake, Let Me in, is set. Take a look at the post card images below...

So what the heck does this thing say?

After some research, we found that The Los Angeles Times also received their own postcard with the exact same morse code message. They claim to have translated the message as:

"I must be gone and live, or stay and die."

While the line comes from the play Romeo and Juliet, the site discovered it was also from the original 2008 Swedish film Let the Right One in, which Let Me in, which stars Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee, is being remade from.

The L.A. Times has revealed the second photo from the upcoming Let Me In, the American remake of the Scandinavian art-house hit Let the Right One in. The film stars Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee, who are pictured below.

Seen by many fans as something of an antidote to the broader passions of the Twilight series, the original 2008 film is a delicately told preteen horror-romance revolving around a lonely 12-year-old boy who discovers that the sweet, shy girl next door he has become smitten with is also a vampire.

Let Me in comes to theaters October 1st, 2010 and stars Richard Jenkins, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz, Jimmy Pinchak, Sasha Barrese, Chris Browning, Cara Buono, Seth Adkins. The film is directed by Matt Reeves.
