Aloha! The natural beauty of Hawaii has long inspired and captivated filmmakers longing to show off the soaring cliffs and clear blue waters, in addition to the rich Polynesian culture. Many romantic comedies and coming-of-age films have taken advantage of the stirring imagery to evoke paradise, spirit, and dreamy tenderness. Michael J. Fox's best-known 80s film may be Back to the Future, but his 1985 comedy film Teen Wolf has had quite the impact itself. Teen Wolf lands on Max this upcoming January.

On January 1st, Fox’s coming-of-age comedy, Teen Wolf, will be available to stream on Max. The film was initially released on August 23rd, 1985, shortly after Back to the Future was released just a month prior, on July 3rd. Directed by Rob Daniel, the original Teen Wolf saw Fox as the titular teen wolf, Scott Howard. In a twist of the typical coming-of-age story, Scott’s life is changed by his newly discovered werewolf form.

I grew up with Flight of the Navigator. It’s always been one of my favourite movies. A family sci-fi adventure film that kinda fell under the radar to some degree and has since become a cult classic. It’s charming, it’s funny, it’s nostalgic as hell and it’s incredibly entertaining, so I was completely and utterly on board when Second Sight announced their upcoming Blu-ray release. Matt Adler is best known for playing the Arizona based surf prodigy Rick -- who somehow learns to surf the biggest waves on Oahu's North Shore during summer break -- in the historical 1987 surf piece "North Shore." Guess what he looks like now!

Paradigm has just added eight new agents across multiple offices by promoting off desks. They are: Zac Bluestone and Madi Daigle in New York, Brewster Lee in Los Angeles, Kylie Doyle, Zach Hartley and Jeremy Shpizner in Nashville, and tour marketing agents Dani Barrett in Los Angeles and Andrew Whitaker in New York.

Paradigm also announced that veteran music agent Phil Egenthal has joined the agency, bringing clients including The Revivalists, George Porter Jr., Dumpstaphunk and Foundation of Funk. Egenthal is currently based in Boulder, Colorado, but will move to Chicago to join Paradigm’s West Superior Street office in the coming weeks.

Hey, gang! Welcome back for another look at this week’s upcoming horror and sci-fi home entertainment releases. August 8th is going to be another busy day for fans, as we have some incredible Blu-ray and DVD titles to look forward to.

Arrow Video has put together an incredible limited edition Blu-ray set for Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator, and Scream Factory has assembled two stellar Collector’s Editions for both Teen Wolf and Teen Wolf Too. Fans of the Coen brothers' Fargo will undoubtedly want to add the new Steelbook edition of the film to their collections this Tuesday, and for those of you interested in unconventional vampire films, be sure to check out The Transfiguration this week, too.

Other notable releases for August 8th include The Night of the Sorcerers / The Loreley’s Grasp double feature, Three Tears on Bloodstained Flesh, The Dinner, Charlotte, and Dimension Z.

Fargo: Steelbook Collector’s Edition (Shout!

Horror fans can howl at moon this summer when Scream Factory releases their Collector's Edition Blu-rays of Teen Wolf (featuring a high-def transfer from the interpositive) and Teen Wolf Too, and to help hold fans over until the August 8th release date arrives, the special features for both Blu-rays have been revealed, along with the announcement that Shout! Factory will release Teen Wolf: The Complete Animated Series on DVD September 5th.

It sometimes pays to be in the right place at the right time. We've overheard, and can confirm, that Seth Gordon is currently attached to a romantic space adventure for Walt Disney Pictures. What we can't get confirmed is that it is, in fact, Star Wars: Episode VII. But we're hearing that it might be. Maybe. Maybe not.

Since it was announced, Star Wars: Episode VII has become the biggest sequel in the galaxy, and the announcement of a director is imminent. The treatment from Michael Arndt has gone out to some of the biggest names in Hollywood, with Brad Bird, Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, Jon Favreau, Zack Snyder, and Quentin Tarantino all passing on the project. Safety Not Guaranteed's Colin Trevorrow was an odds on favorite to take the job, but he's now busy with the Flight of the Navigator remake set up at Disney.

So whom does that leave?...

Disney has hired the Safety Not Guaranteed duo Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly to re-write Flight of the Navigator. Brad Copeland wrote the rough draft back in May 2009.

Randal Kleiser's original film centered on a 12-year-old boy who is abducted by aliens in 1978 then reappears eight years later not remembering the encounter. Nasa discovers a crashed spacecraft and find a connection to the young boy. They try to take advantage of the boy only to find that he has escaped in an attempt to reconnect with his family.

The project is being setup as a directing vehicle for Colin Trevorrow with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman producing.

Flight of the Navigator was released July 30th, 1986 and stars Joey Cramer, Paul Reubens, Veronica Cartwright, Cliff De Young, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matt Adler, Howard Hesseman, Robert Small. The film is directed by Randal Kleiser.

Since their debut in 1984, the Transformers have seen many incarnations throughout the full range of media, from comics to cartoons, to toys and, of course, live-action film.

With the latest installment of their big-screen franchise, "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon," rolling out into theaters today (June 29), we’re taking a look at the key characters in this summer blockbuster, and seeing how they developed from their classic forms in the original animated series and the comics into the big-screen blockbuster stars they are today.

Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) is the leader of the heroic Autobots. The most iconic of Transformers, his character is the one that has remained the most consistent across media, although there are inevitably differences.

Both the comics and cartoon hold Optimus and his Autobots to have crash-landed on Earth in pre-historic times, where they remained inert until a volcanic eruption awoke them in the modern era.

Hal Jordan, also known as the intergalactic peacekeeper Green Lantern, has his hands full patrolling the spaceways and keeping ne’er-do-wells from threatening the cosmos. As his patrol extends to the big screen this weekend, we decided to look at some of the biggest threats he’s been called on to combat in the line of duty.

The past few weeks have seen a shrinking presence for DC Comics in the live-action television world. "Smallville" concluded its 10-year run with a two-hour series finale on The CW, Fox canceled "Human Target," and NBC passed on the "Wonder Woman" series.

However, comics seem more popular than ever on the big screen, with DC’s "Green Lantern" hitting theaters next month, and the next installment of Christopher Nolan's live-action Batman films, "The Dark Knight Rises," beginning production last week.

It’s been a long journey for Marvel Comics’ Thor from the four-color pages of his origin to the big screen, but what’s nearly 50 years to an immortal God of Thunder anyway?

This weekend, "Thor" hit theaters nationwide, and because it's part of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe, the comics that inspired it aren’t drawn upon just for passing references or surface similarities, but instead are woven throughout the film and form the basis of its story.

“Iron Man 2” hits theaters this weekend in the U.S., and while the first film served primarily as an origin tale and introduction to the character, this second film promises to expand upon the character and his world by drawing upon several different characters and storylines from the Marvel Universe.

This week's "Race to Witch Mountain," starring Dwayne Johnson and Carla Gugino, is the latest remake-- ahem, modern reimagining from Walt Disney Studios. Though the Mouse House's animated classics remain sacrosanct (if the jumping-off point of direct-to-dvd sequels), the live-action library has been pillaged for endless redos intended for theaters or the Disney Channel, which is where a previous remake of "Escape to Witch Mountain" starring Robert Vaughn and Brad Dourif premiered in 1995. Nothing is safe from the remake button over at Disney, so here are four more properties we fully expect to receive the same treatment in the near future, and proposals on how best to bring the projects into the 21st century.
