It’s time for another reverse Uno card of a video. When we are looking at something standing the Test of Time, its usually through the lens of “is it still good” or “is it still impactful”? The holy grail or Mount Rushmore of slashers have an easy answer to that. Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and A Nightmare on Elm Street are all unimpeachable in their legacy and entertainment value but what about their sequels and remakes? Weve looked at a few of them either through this show seeing if they are still fun as well as Andrew or Lance defending some of them in our Black Sheep videos. Rob Zombie is pretty divisive in general, but he had the extremely difficult task of making not only the remake of John Carpenter’s Halloween in 2007 but also a sequel to that in 2009. He was told he could...

Michael Myers, the ruthless and emotionless killer in Halloween movies has flirted with death multiple times, but he always comes back somehow. The killer has been slicing and dicing his way through the residents of Haddonfield, Illinois, since 1978, when John Carpenter first brought the character to the screen. Every once in a while, his spree of terror is stopped by a virtuous "final girl" or a concerted effort by the residents of Haddonfield, only for the cycle to begin anew a few years later.
Over the years, Michael has been stabbed, shot, run over, blown up, roundhouse kicked by rapper Busta Rhymes, and even fed into a scrapyard grinder. But he always seems to be able to return for the next installment. Michael is a resilient guy perhaps supernaturally so but there have been many occasions within the franchise when he received so much punishment that it should have been...

A 4K restoration of the 1981 film “Lion of the Desert” is to premiere at the Cairo Film Festival this week. Telling the story of Benito Mussolini’s attempt to defeat the Libyan rebellion against fascist Italian rule, the film stars Oliver Reed and Anthony Quinn and was produced and directed by Syrian-American filmmaker Moustapha Akkad. The trailer for the film is below.
The restoration was carried out by Trancas International Films at Deluxe in London and Private Island Sound in Hollywood, bringing to life the grandeur of the desertscapes and the epic battle scenes, as well as Maurice Jarre’s score. Malek Akkad, Moustapha Akkad’s son, spoke to Variety about the restoration: “It was a labor of love for me. The process involved three of my father’s films – ‘The Message,’ ‘Ar-Risalah’ and ‘Lion of the Desert’ – and each of these films is over three hours in length. It...

An underrated Halloween movie is joining Peacock next month. Halloween III: Season of the Witch, the only installment in the franchise to not feature Michael Myers, is set to arrive on the streaming service at the start of September.
Peacock has announced that Halloween III: Season of the Witch will become available to stream on the platform beginning Sept. 1, 2024. Released in 1982, Halloween III does not take place in the same timeline as the first two films and is instead set in its own continuity. The movie follows Dr. Dan Challis (Tom Atkins) as he tries to solve the mysterious murder of a patient in his hospital. Aided by the patient's daughter Ellie (Stacey Nelkin), the pair travel to the small town of Santa Mira, California, where they discover that Silver Shamrock Novelties, a company run by Conal Cochran (Dan O'Herlihy), is attempting to use the mystic powers of the Stonehenge...

Guess what successful horror film franchise is getting another video game adaptation? The Halloween franchise! Video game publisher Boss Team Games, the company behind the survival horror game Evil Dead: The Game, is in the process of developing two new video games based on John Carpenter's 1978 slasher Halloween. More on these video game adaptations below.
This will be the second and third video game adaptation of Halloween. Previously, in 1983, Wizard Video released the horror video game Halloween for the Atari 2600. This game was also based on the 1978 horror classic. Now, we have two more Halloween video games to look forward to.
These games are reportedly being developed with the help of the producers of the Halloween franchise. In fact, Carpenter has even been reported to be "intimately involved" in one of the games' development, which will use Unreal Engine 5 as its game engine. However, both games are being developed...

Boss Team Games recently worked with Saber Interactive, Renaissance Pictures, Studiocanal, MGM, and Lionsgate to bring fans Evil Dead: The Game, a cool project that stopped developing new content surprisingly soon after it was released. Now Boss Team Games has moved on to a different popular horror franchise, as IGN reports that they’re working on two video games based on the 1978 classic Halloween!
Details on these Halloween games are scarce at this point, but IGN was able to confirm that Boss Team Games are developing them in collaboration with the producers of the Halloween franchise. They also learned that one of the games is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and will include input from original Halloween John Carpenter. Carpenter, who is said to be “intimately involved” with the project, provided the following statement: “As a huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game,...

Michael Myers is heading to a gaming console near you, as its been announced that there are not one, but two video games based on John Carpenters Halloween in the works from Boss Team Games. The best part? The legendary director himself is involved in the project. The one and only video game based off of Carpenters 1978 groundbreaking slasher movie came in 1983 for the Atari 2600, and while characters from the film have been featured in other franchises such as Dead by Daylight, there has never been a true standalone game in more than 40 years.
Per IGN, the Halloween video games come by way of the creators of Evil Dead: The Game, with one of them being developed in Unreal Engine 5. Its being said that the new games will allow players to "relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time,...

To the uninitiated, the "Halloween" franchise is just a slasher series. If you've seen one, you've seen them all. A masked maniac with a big knife wandering around different settings, cutting down anyone unfortunate enough to get in their way. Sure, while that might be true for John Carpenter's classic original, the series would grow increasingly odd and incredulous as the years went on.
As of this writing, there are four different "Halloween" timelines featuring Michael Myers. It starts with the original timeline, including the orignal "Halloween" from 1978, its sequel "Halloween II," the legacy sequel "Halloween H20," and "Halloween: Resurrection." Then, of course, is the colloquial Cult of Thorn timeline, which also includes those first two movies, followed by then "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers," "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers," and "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.

You didn’t really think Halloween Ends would be the end of the Halloween franchise, did you? That movie may have brought an end to one version of Michael Myers, but the filmmakers can always go back to an earlier iteration – or create a whole new one. Last October, we learned that Halloween will continue with a TV series that Miramax is developing with the company they share the rights to the franchise with, Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films. Now Miramax’s Marc Helwig has given Deadline an update on the project, revealing that it’s a “creative reset” that takes the franchise back to the original film, John Carpenter’s 1978 classic.
Helwig said the Halloween TV series is “on a fast track, it’s a big priority for us. We’ve had lots of exciting conversations in recent months with a number of really talented people, and I...

We had learned this past October that Miramax landed the TV rights to the Halloween franchise, joining forces with Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films to bring Michael Myers to the small screen. Miramax will be developing and co-producing the Halloween saga’s first ever TV series, and Miramax head Marc Helwig provides an update to Deadline this week.
What can we expect from the Halloween TV series, you ask? For starters, don’t expect any kind of continuation to the storyline from David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy.
“The foundation of it is the original film, the John Carpenter movie, the characters of that film, and perhaps a group of characters that we haven’t really focused on that much in recent film versions or even in a number of them,” Helwig teases.

Halloween Ends may have killed iconic slasher Michael Myers off on the big screen, but there’s really no stopping a successful horror franchise. Last October, Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films secured a deal with Miramax Television to develop and co-produce a Halloween TV series… and one person who would be interested in working on the show is Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers director Dwight H. Little, who has racked up a lot of TV experience since his days of working on Halloween 4. There’s also another Halloween project Little would like to work on and has even pitched: a direct sequel to Halloween 4 that would see the return of Danielle Harris and Ellie Cornell as Jamie and her foster sister Rachel!

Danielle Harris expresses interest in returning to the Halloween franchise as Jamie Lloyd and suggests continuing the story in a television series. The future of the Halloween franchise includes a potential television series, as Miramax has acquired the rights and is reportedly teaming up with Trancas International Films. While it's unclear who will be the focus of the TV series, it's likely that Michael Myers, the franchise's iconic slasher, will make a return. Jamie Lloyd could serve as a replacement protagonist.
Halloween actor Danielle Harris addresses a possible return to the franchise following her 14-year absence. A certified scream queen, Harris is known for her roles in four entries in the Halloween franchise. She first starred as Jamie Lloyd, the daughter of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), in 1988's Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and 1989's Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. Despite what Anthony Michael Hall's Tommy Doyle wants you to believe, evil doesn't always die tonight. Most times, it lives to be rebooted over and over again.
After forever changing the horror landscape and delivering a rather inconsistent series of movies, "Halloween" returned once again in 2018. David Gordon Green rebooted the franchise with the awkwardly titled "Halloween" and its sequels, which promised to deliver the ultimate, final confrontation between Michael Myers and Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode. Green's reboot trilogy followed an older Laurie, who struggles to cope with the trauma of the horrific attack she experienced 40 years prior at the hands of the silent masked killer Michael, as well as the toll it took on her family. The trilogy also explored the impact Michael has on the larger Haddonfield community upon his return (prompting them to seek mob justice), in addition to the notion of an heir to Michael's evil.

The Halloween franchise rights are still in the process of being shopped around following their three-picture stay with Universal and Blumhouse for the David Gordon Green-directed sequel trilogy that began in 2018. That all wrapped up with 2022's Halloween Ends, a polarizing effort that divided fans for one big reason: Michael Myers wasn't front and center in the story. The Shape is the main ingredient in Halloween's secret sauce, but it's not the first time the franchise has tried to pivot away from him to continue the brand. As the franchise rights search for a new home, any studio or streamer lucky to have them must realize that most fans won't accept Halloween without Michael Myers.

The Halloween franchise was dead in the water before Jamie Lee Curtis returned to take on Michael Myers one last time.
What should have been a standalone movie was dragged, kicking and screaming, into a trilogy that did the franchise more harm than good.
There, we said it.
The 2018 Halloween movie would have been looked back on more fondly if it had brought those storylines to a close.
The sequels were unnecessary and only served to make money. Quality be damned.
You can only imagine my surprise when Deadline reported Thursday that Miramax had won a "heated bidding war" for the television rights to the iconic franchise.
It's hard to believe that anyone's asking for this, more so after Halloween Ends brought Laurie Strode's story to a conclusion with a whimper.

Miramax has prevailed in the bidding war for television rights to the “Halloween” horror franchise, meaning Michael Myers could soon be slicing and dicing his way across the small screen or assorted streaming platforms. The indie studio beat out other contenders, including A24, which was also in the mix for the rights, according to an insider with knowledge.
The auction was held by Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films, which controls the franchise’s TV rights. It makes sense that Miramax would move aggressively to nab the option to make a television off-shoot, as the company shares ownership of the film rights with Trancas. Plus, the horror franchise has been very lucrative for Miramax, which also co-produces the “Scream” movies.
The deal comes a week after Miramax CEO Bill Block was canned from the company’s top post after overseeing a lackluster run of films such as “Confess, Fletch” and “He’s All That.

Michael Myers is poised to make his return once again — on the small screen this time. Following a couple of weeks of behind-the-scenes bidding, Miramax has landed the TV rights to the "Halloween" franchise. The studio is now partnering with Malek Akkad's Trancas International Films on a TV show set within the universe that started with John Carpenter's 1978 timeless horror classic. But that's not all! It sounds like Miramax and Trancas are hatching an entire shared universe worth of stories.
According to Deadline, Miramax won the "Halloween" TV rights in what was described as a "heated" bidding war. A24, the studio behind hits like "Everything Everywhere All at Once," and Blumhouse, which produced director David Gordon Green's recent blockbuster "Halloween" movie trilogy, were also said to be in the running. Financial terms were not disclosed but Miramax, which has long partnered with Trancas on the films, came out on top.

A couple weeks ago, we heard that Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films was shopping the TV rights to the Halloween franchise around Hollywood, looking to get a TV series set up. Trancas is the sole owner of the franchise’s television rights, while Miramax co-owns the film rights with them – and at the time, Miramax was in a bidding war with A24 (which already has a Friday the 13th series called Crystal Lake in development) over the rights to make the show. Miramax will host the next resurrection for the unstoppable masked murderer Michael Myers.
Last year, Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green wrapped up their Halloween trilogy with Halloween Ends. More recently, there had been reports of a serious bidding war over the rights to Halloween, leaving it unclear where the hit horror franchise may wind up next. Now, Deadline reports that Miramax has won the television rights to the franchise after signing a "wide-ranging deal" with Trancas International Films to develop and co-produce a Halloween TV series. While other slasher franchise like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street have previously hit the small screen, this will mark the first official TV series for Halloween.

There are also plans to do more with Halloween beyond starting with a TV show, as Miramax jointly holds the film rights.

The sequel trilogy was produced by Blumhouse Productions and released into theaters by Universal Pictures as part of a pact with Miramax from a deal with Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films, and it looks like the ball is now back in the court of the Akkad family. After two movies focusing on the murder spree of Michael Myers, Halloween III: Season of the Witch transformed the franchise into an anthology series and dared to tell a story without Haddonfield’s masked killer. Season of the Witch received poor reviews at the time, particularly from fans who wanted to see the story of Michael Myers continue, but the movie has gone on to grow its own cult following who appreciate its place in the franchise. David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy paid tribute to Season of the Witch, but Halloween Ends came close to providing a big link between the two movies… by making Michael Myers’ mask part of the Silver Shamrock line.

When you put “ends” right there in the title, you’re asking for it. Such is the pickle for David Gordon Green’s trilogy-capper “Halloween Ends.” So, is this really the end of the iconic franchise? Green has a diplomatic answer.

"Halloween Ends" spoilers below.
Reactions are starting to trickle in for "Halloween Ends," the trilogy capper to one of the most successful resets in horror history. So far, it appears that fans and critics are markedly mixed about the peculiar direction that the third entry takes. To be sure, it's a bold move by David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, and the rest of the writing team and, wherever the final analysis lands, they all took a big swing with the storyline they chose to run with. On the surface, "Halloween Ends" features all the elements you need for an effective "Halloween" movie: Jamie Lee Curtis is back as Laurie Strode, it's set during Halloween, and there's a gleaming, bloody butcher knife in almost every shot.

The ruling maxim of John Carpenter's game-changing slasher masterpiece "Halloween" is "Everyone's entitled to one good scare," but the original Michael Myers survivor will have as many as she pleases.
David Gordon Green's "Halloween" revival trilogy is reaching its terminus with this year's final entry, "Halloween Ends," releasing wide October 14. It's the thirteenth installment of the "Halloween" franchise and the seventh to feature Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as Laurie Strode, ever-battling the masked psychopath Michael Myers. Still, Curtis won't say no to further exploration of her character.
The "Knives Out" star had previously sworn off the franchise after serving her term from 1978 to "Halloween: Resurrection" in 2001, when her Laurie was killed off in the most insulting termination of a legacy character the genre would see until "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Speaking to SFX Magazine, Curtis describes the person that convinced her to return: her godson, "Ambulance" star Jake Gyllenhaal.

Paul Rudd is one of Hollywood's biggest stars, and while fans may know him as Josh from the 1995 teen comedy film "Clueless," superhero Ant-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or even as Phoebe's husband from the sitcom "Friends," I first saw the actor in "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers," one of his earliest roles. Funny enough, that was the first "Halloween" movie I saw, so for a while I regarded Rudd as the original Tommy Doyle; of course, that distinction goes to Brian Andrews, who played the little boy Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) babysits and protects from Michael Myers in John Carpenter's 1978 original. But whenever I saw Rudd pop up on TV, I'd yell, "Aye, that's Tommy Doyle!"
The role, however, is just a footnote in the career of People magazine's 2021 "Sexiest Man Alive." Not long ago, some of my friends considered my revelation that Ant-Man once...
