Fouad El Zahiry(1916-1988)

An Egyptian composer of Armenian descent, he graduated from Frères School with a proficiency certificate. Under the mentorship of Palestinian musician Qustandi Al-Khouri, he mastered the violin and later joined the Fouad I Institute of Arabic Music, studying under Polish professor Alexander Kontrovich. After graduation, he became a music teacher at the Ministry of Education.
In 1942, he joined the Saint Joseph Church choir as a violinist and composed successful musical pieces such as Call of Freedom, The Legend of the Nile's Loyalty, and The Revolting Land. He later became a professor at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts and a music supervisor at Egyptian radio, where some of his works aired on the Middle East Radio. His career flourished as he composed scores for TV series and plays and over 200 films, leaving a lasting impact on Egyptian cinema.
