Liam McHugh Will Join WarnerMedia’s TV Hockey Team

Former NBC Sports host Liam McHugh will join Turner Sports as the WarnerMedia outlet prepares for its first season of NHL telecasts under a new rights deal, joining hockey great Wayne Gretzky, and a new team of analysts and sportscasters devoted to coverage of the sport.

McHugh joins Turner Sports from NBC Sports, where he led hockey coverage as well as the pre-game NFL program, “Football Night in America.” He is one of several new sportscasters to join, including Anson Carter, a former NBC Sports studio analyst; Rick Tocchet, the veteran NHL player and coach; and Paul Bissonnette, the former hockey player who still contributes to radio coverage of the Arizona Coyotes. Turner had previously announced a deal with Gretzky to be part of a new studio show, as well as Kenny Albert and Eddie Olczyk, who will provide game commentary.

Brendan Burke will provide play-by-play throughout the season alongside analyst Darren Pang.

NHL Stanley Cup Final’s Remaining Games Will Stream On Peacock – Updated

Updated, 4:35 Pm: Ice will form on the stream during the next week-plus. NBCUniversal said today that its streaming service Peacock will show all remaining games of the NHL’s Stanley Cup Final, starting with Friday’s Game 3.

Peacock Premium will carry the NBC feed of Games 3 and 4 and, if necessary, Games 5-7 between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens. The Lightning hold a 2-0 series lead as the action shifts to the Bell Centre in eastern Canada for Game 3.

NBC Sports’ Kenny Albert will handle play-by-play duties alongside analyst Eddie Olczyk, with Brian Boucher as the “inside the Glass” analyst.

Previously, June 13: Peacock has added premium streaming as an option for all of the National Hockey League’s remaining Stanley Cup Semifinal games.

Wayne Gretzky Will Help WarnerMedia Build NHL Coverage

Hockey great Wayne Gretzky was made an analyst for Turner Sports’ new NHL coverage, part of a quick ramp-up in talent as the WarnerMedia unit prepares to handle a new seven-year deal with the league it hopes will expand its professional-sports presence and draw new viewers to cable outlets like TNT and TBS.

Gretzky is slated to offer studio analysis during key moments of the NHL regular season and throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs, under terms of a new contract. Kenny Albert and Eddie Olczyk will call live games throughout the season and the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Gretzy’s hire was previously reported by the New York Post.

Hall Of Fame Broadcaster Marv Albert Will Retire After NBA Playoffs – Report

Marv Albert, the man who made “Yes!” the catch-phrase of millions of basketball players who just hit a shot, will reportedly retire at the conclusion of the National Basketball Assn. playoffs.

The nearly 80-year-old Albert has been the voice of 60 years of basketball broadcasts. The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand broke the story.

Albert, who will turn 80 next month, is a Basketball Hall of Famer broadcaster best-known for his signature “Yes!” call.

He was the voice of the New York Knicks starting as a 21-year-old in 1963, filling in for another New York sportscasting giant, Marty Glickman, on Wcbs Radio. He became the permanent play-by-play man in 1967, and stayed with the Knicks through their championship glory years of 1969 and 1973.

Albert later became a national voice, working as the lead broadcaster for TNT for more than two decades.
