Every year there seems to be an inordinate amount of new CGI Christmas movies thrust upon unsuspecting supermarket shoppers – after all, most folks buy theses types of titles on impulse whilst browsing in the likes of Asda, Tesco et al. Titles that are watched once or twice and then sit on the shelf for the most of the next year or, even worse, are tossed in to the “get rid” pile (I know you all have one). Saving Santa is one such film.

Once upon a time, Santa operated with just a small workshop and a few elves. But, as Christmas has grown ever bigger, Santa has been forced to innovate!

Del Shores Dishes On ‘Southern Baptist Sissies’ Movie…& More ‘Sordid Lives!’
Sissies Willam Belli, Matthew Scott Montgomery, Luke Stratte McClure & Emerson Collins

Religion and homosexuality have always had a tough relationship and leave it to Del Shores to address the issue head-on in the film version of his renowned play, Southern Baptist Sissies.

Like the play, which has been staged countless times since Shores wrote it in 2000, the film takes a look at four young boys – all Southern Baptists – and their journeys into adulthood and sexuality, with their parents, God and the Church watching closely over them to stop any missteps. While Sissies is filled with great laughs and musical performances, there’s a heavy dramatic message here, too, that unfortunately still applies in 2014.

TheBacklot checked in with Shores to talk about making the film (including Willam Belli’s joining the cast) as well as getting some scoop on his gone-but-not-forgotten series, Sordid Lives, which, we found out, may not be gone after all!

Latest MPAA Ratings: Bulletin No: 2135
Below you will see a rating for Easy Rider: The Ride Back, a film from Pan America Pictures that I had not heard of, but checked out and based on the official site it's described as a "long awaited" prequel to the Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson classic Easy Rider and apparently "shows through flashbacks how these much loved characters became the classic icons of a generation."

The film is directed by Dustin Rikert and stars a bunch of people I've never heard of such as Chris Engen, Michelle Borth, Thomas Blankenship and Newell Alexander. Oh, and Jeff Fahey (Grindhouse), I've heard of him. You can watch the trailer just to the right if you are so inclined.

Other than that note, here are the new MPAA ratings from Bulletin No: 2135.

Bran Nue Dae Rated PG-13 For sexual content and drug use. Catfish Rated PG-13 For some sexual references.
