NCIS Star Sasha Alexander's Underrated Crime Drama Rizzoli & Isles Resurges on Streaming
Image
NCIS star Sasha Alexander's underrated detective crime drama is enjoying a resurgence on streaming. Alexander rose to prominence in the role of Caitlin Todd in the first two seasons of the hit procedural NCIS, before exiting following her character's on-screen death, citing the pressures and intense schedule of network television.

In addition to her role on the show, Alexander had a recurring role in Shameless as Helene Runyon, appearing in seasons 5-7. She has also appeared on the TV shows Curb Your Enthusiasm, Law & Order, FBI, Dark Blue, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, as well as the movie Yes Man.

Alexander has enjoyed a strong filmography, but she is perhaps best-known for her hugely underrated cable TV crime drama that aired between 2010 and 2016, and is considered one of the best procedurals of the 2010s. The show is now enjoying a new lease of life on streaming.

Will Mark Harmon’s Gibbs Return to NCIS: Tony & Ziva? Og Stars Get Ignored in Show’s History Recap
Image
NCIS: Tony & Ziva is set to premiere in September, and the two stars, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, appeared for a panel at Comic-Con recently. The duo play the titular characters from the NCIS original series, who appeared together for nine seasons on the show. The last time we saw them together was during the eleventh season of the show.

When the fan favorite ‘Tiva’ returns to the screen, we all desire Mark Harmon‘s Gibbs to be there to witness it. Harmon stayed long after both Weatherly and Pablo were gone from the Og show. He exited the show in Season 19, but remains attached to the franchise as an executive producer of NCIS: Origins.

It isn’t just Gibbs that we want to see together with Tony and Ziva. We would love to see the old McRt unit come together, including Sean Murray’s McGee, Rocky Carroll’s Director Vance,...

Based on the popular book series by Michael Connelly and previously adapted into one of Matthew McConaughey's best films, the Netflix series follows the defense attorney Mickey Haller as he travels through Los Angeles from the backseat of his signature Lincoln Navigator. Created for TV by veteran scribe David E. Kelley and adapted by Ted Humphrey, the series has become one of Netflix's most anticipated shows and has been greenlit for an increasingly rare fourth season.

Each season so far has adapted a different book in the Lincoln Lawyer series, skipping the first novel (presumably in hopes of not retreading any ground covered by the McConaughey film) to adapt "The Brass Verdict" in season 1, "The Fifth Witness" in season 2, and "The Gods of Guilt" in season 3. Season 4 is set to adapt the sixth book in the series,...

The Exact Friends Scene That Proved Joey Was the Least Evolved Character Hasn’t Aged Well
Image
Matt LeBlanc’s character arc as Joey Tribbiani left many fans unsatisfied at the end of Friends. Fans hoped that Joey would figure out his career and love life by the end of the series. Not only did Joey achieve those things, but he was significantly dumber in the latter seasons. One scene from an episode in Season 8 proves that the show went a little too extreme with Joey’s low intelligence.

The character got the worst treatment from David Crane and Marta Kauffman when it came to character evolution throughout the ten seasons. Things got worse when the makers announced a spin-off with him, titled Joey, which is considered one of the worst spin-offs in sitcom history. LeBlanc’s character did not get any better in his eponymous show as well.

This Friends scene shows why Matt LeBlanc’s Joey Tribbiani was the worst-developed character Matt LeBlanc as Joey...

'My Satisfaction Is Irrelevant': Former Lincoln Lawyer Star Opens Up on 'Unexpected' Series Exit
Image
Netflix officially renewed the legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer for Season 4, a few months after the release of the latest installment. However, not all members will return.

Shortly after the renewal, it was revealed that The Lincoln Lawyer would go on without a key character, Yaya DaCosta's Andrea Freedman. The actress made her debut on the legal show in Season 2, impressing everyone with her court battle against main character Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and she returned as a main character in Season 3, as her story further deepened and she became Mickey's love interest. In a new interview with TV Insider, DaCosta opened up about her shocking exit and teased that fans might see her again.

The Lincoln Lawyer is based on Michael Connelly's novels, although the Netflix series took a lot of creative freedom with the characters, including Andrea Freedman. In the novels, her character wasn't a big part of the series,...

“This job is not easy for me”: Fast & Furious Star Who Left NCIS After 142 Episodes Because the Merciless Schedule Broke Him
Image
NCIS is one of the most iconic shows of all time. Despite having released twenty-two seasons, the series is still going strong. While willing actors and engaging stories are partly to credit for its lengthy run, the biggest reason why the show has been able to still air is because of its loyal fanbase. Sticking by it since 2003, their commitment and love for it help in it releasing more seasons every year.

However, it has become a persistent pattern where fan-favorite characters eventually leave the series. This has become so common that none of the original cast members are left. The perfect example of the same has to be The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift star and special agent Christopher Lasalle actor, Lucas Black.

It would seem that his reason for leaving the series showcases a bigger pattern that even made Mark Harmon almost walk out.

'The Lincoln Lawyer' Casts 'Rizzoli & Isles' and 'NCIS' Alum Sasha Alexander as FBI Agent
Image
Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer just added some serious firepower for Season 4. Sasha Alexander, known for her roles on Rizzoli & Isles and NCIS, has joined the hit legal drama in a recurring role as FBI Agent Dawn Ruth. Described as “no-nonsense” and “intimidating,” Agent Ruth won’t be knocking politely on any doors, that's for sure. According to Netflix’s official character description, she and a colleague crash one of Mickey Haller’s dinners to deliver a thinly veiled threat: drop your FBI investigation… or face the consequences. As we know, that will put her squarely at odds with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s lead character, the slick defense attorney at the center of The Lincoln Lawyer, who is more used to dealing with courtroom drama than FBI pressure.

Created for television by David E. Kelley, The Lincoln Lawyer is based on the novels by Michael Connelly and follows Haller as he...

Mark Harmon originally joined NCIS in the hopes of finding a better work-life balance. Although the procedural show did contribute to his growing stardom in the 2000s, with the show itself being voted America’s favorite television show in the 2010s, this success came at the cost of his work-life balance.

NCIS will always be a perfect show for any crime drama fan. It also has a gripping storyline that perfectly sets the stage for more thrilling moments. Also, the fact that it has been running for more than two decades solidifies its place as one of the most sought-after shows out there. Given this huge duration, several changes took place within the cast of the show.

While some actors joined in later seasons, others left the show midway as well. One such actress was Sasha Alexander, who was introduced in NCIS as Special Agent Caitlin “Kate” Todd in the very first season. She immediately became a fan favorite and had a strong presence in the show as well.

However, her shocking exit at the end of the show’s second season caught everyone off guard. Let’s look at the...

“I liked him from the first moment I met him”: For Donald Bellisario, Only One Actor Other than Mark Harmon Was Destined for NCIS
Image
NCIS, co-created by Donald Bellisario and Don McGill, is one of the longest-running programs on television. But its origin goes much beyond its premiere in 2003. Although influenced by crime procedurals like Law & Order and CSI, the CBS thriller is hardly a by-product of those shows. Rather, it is a spin-off of a mid-90s military crime procedural, Jag, created by Donald Bellisario.

However, it is not the long history of the show that fascinates modern-day viewers. After circumventing such momentous events as 3 Hollywood strikes (once in 2007-08 and twice in 2023), a pandemic, radical demography shifts, the launch of the streaming era, and the changing of the old guard at CBS studios, NCIS still keeps going strong and churning out profitable episodes with each passing season.

However, all of it was only made possible by the original keepers of the show: Mark Harmon and his castmates.

The actor who was...

Why Sasha Alexander's Kate Todd Left NCIS
Image
"NCIS" is still trucking along on CBS. By now, though, the naval crimes procedural has been on the air for so long that it's already got its own rewatch podcast. "Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch" is co-hosted by Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, two of the show's main stars who (along with Mark Harmon and Pauley Perrette) both eventually left after spending several years playing their respective roles.

Unlike most rewatch podcasts, however, "Off Duty" doesn't layer on the excessive nostalgia, which makes sense given the allegedly tough working conditions that several "NCIS" cast members have spoken about. Case in point: there's an episode where the two hosts dig into the apparently exhausting early seasons with former star Sasha Alexander, whose Special Agent Caitlin Todd was killed off after just two seasons of "NCIS."

Alexander was with "NCIS" from the start. She played Agent Todd in the early backdoor...

NCIS: The Legacy Character from Jag That Donald Bellisario Reportedly Replaced with Sasha Alexander Because She Was Too “Soft”
Image
The popularity surrounding NCIS has made it almost impossible to believe that it is, in fact, the spin-off of a 1990s crime procedural drama. The parent series, titled Jag, premiered in 1995 and ran for 10 seasons before the spin-off took shape with Mark Harmon in the lead.

However, NCIS had one advantage that Jag lacked at its time of conception – the popularity of the crime procedural genre. With shows like CSI and Law & Order becoming the order of the day in every American household, NCIS took off amid high ratings and never looked back. Now, 22 seasons later, the show is still going strong, with more stories to tell and audiences to entertain.

'NCIS' Needs To Make This Guest Star a Series Regular
Image
The cast of NCIS has changed over the years, especially since all the original main cast members have left the series. Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) and Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) are the last two stars from NCIS Season 1. Although they were initially recurring characters, their appearances were enough to earn them bigger roles, and eventually be part of the main cast. In Jimmy's case, he was a replacement Medical Examiner Assistant to Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum). Ducky's original assistant, Gerald Jackson (Pancho Demmings), was on leave after being shot by Ziva David's (Cote de Pablo) half-brother, Ari Hiswari (Rudolf Martin). When Ari returned to use Gerald as a hostage again after killing Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander), Jimmy officially became Ducky's permanent assistant.

Jennifer Aniston Was Considered For A Major NCIS Role
Image
Many actors have walked through the revolving door of the NCIS Major Case Response Team's Navy Yard headquarters. Some of them have been relatively fresh faces, but "NCIS" has also filled many roles with actors who had plenty of pedigree even before they joined the show. Actors like Mark Harmon, David McCallum (Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard), Lauren Holly (Director Jenny Shepard), Gary Cole (Alden Parker), and Wilmer Valderrama (Nick Torres) had all tasted success in previous projects before "NCIS," but even they pale in comparison to one name who was once considered for a big role in the show: Jennifer Aniston.

In a joint oral history interview with The Hollywood Reporter, several makers of the show discussed casting, and they revealed that Aniston's name was once on the table to play the tragic Caitlin Todd, a role that ultimately went to Sasha Alexander. " I think Jennifer Aniston was available at the time,...

‘NCIS: Origins’ Showrunner Reveals If Caitlin Todd Will Appear In Prequel
Image
The NCIS franchise has gained a lot of fame and acclaim over the years – enough to spawn multiple prequel and sequel spin-off series. Like NCIS: Origins, the sixth installment from the franchise released in 2024, which focused on the early investigative career of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the show’s original protagonist, years prior to the events of NCIS.

While the series brought back a lot of characters (though with different actors), one that it didn’t bring back was the fan-favorite Caitlin Todd from the original show. And since fans have had a lot of questions regarding her return, the showrunner of Origins, David J. North has finally shed light on whether fans can expect her to appear in the prequel series or not.

Why Cote De Pablo's Ziva David Left NCIS
Image
The hour-long procedural has long been one of network television's go-to genres. When done effectively, they can last for decades and launch multiple spin-offs that make a gazillion dollars for creatives and suits alike. What's the secret to the crafting of a long-running procedural? In the case of the broadcast war horse known as "Law & Order," it's to hit on a unique narrative format (i.e. the criminal justice system viewed from the street and court levels), and hit big on every casting choice. For shows as unabashedly formulaic as CBS' "NCIS," it's good enough to hit big-ish on every casting choice, and get slotted into a favorable spot on the broadcast schedule.

Initially, Mark Harmon's Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs was the anchor of the series. The sun-kissed California hunk with sandy hair and blue eyes got his start on television as Dr. Robert Caldwell on "St. Elsewhere...

Michael Weatherly Asked a “Couple of Key Questions” to Dr. Phil After Leaving NCIS for Another CBS Series
Image
Walking away from NCIS after over a decade? Yeah, that’s not the kind of move you make on a whim. Michael Weatherly knew he had a big decision on his hands, so he did what any logical person would — he went straight to Dr. Phil for some real talk. Because let’s be honest, leaving behind Tony Dinozzo to jump into a brand-new CBS show wasn’t exactly a no-brainer.

Weatherly had a couple of burning questions before diving into Bull, and if anyone knows how to break things down, it’s TV’s favorite therapist. Safe to say, Dr. Phil’s advice played a part in Weatherly’s next big chapter.

The Best ‘NCIS’ Character Deserved So Much Better Than What She Was Given
Image
Despite only being a series regular for seven out of the 22 seasons of NCIS, Cote de Pablo's Ziva David is a character that left an indelible mark on the series. In the Season 3 premiere, when the NCIS Major Crimes Response Team dealt with the fallout of Caitlin Todd's (Sasha Alexander) murder by Ari Haswari (Rudolf Martin), Ziva's introduction was a smooth transition to replace Todd on the team. She was introduced as Haswari's control officer while he worked undercover at Hamas. The then-newly-appointed NCIS Director Jenny Shepard (Lauren Holly) vouched for Ziva to assist NCIS as they had worked together and had been saved by her on a mission in Cairo. Ziva was tasked with ensuring Ari's safety when Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) had a personal vendetta against him.

Where Is the Original Cast of 'NCIS' in 2025?
Image
NCIS first hit television screens in 2003, launching the now widely recognizable franchise, which continues to be popular with audiences. With its 22nd season currently running. NCIS helped to consolidate the re-emerging popularity of American police and crime television in the 2000s, becoming iconic. The show follows a team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, sometimes injecting comedy into quite a serious police procedural drama.

In 2003, audiences were introduced to the well-loved group of characters, who all, during the now 21-year run, have parted with the original series in their own ways. With the lead, Supervisory Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, (Mark Harmon), Special Agents Caitlin Todd, (Sasha Alexander), Anthony Dinozzo, (Michael Weatherly), as well as Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), and Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum), each character brought their charm to the show. We will look at the original cast and...

“Putting his hand between her legs”: Grossly Inappropriate NCIS Moment That Would’ve Gotten the Show Canceled Today
Image
Over the years, the limits and boundaries of ‘acceptability’ and ‘appropriateness’ of actions have greatly changed, and for good reasons too. The television industry, in particular, has been one of the significant industries to be affected by such growing ethical standards, sparking calls for accountability.

NCIS | Credit: CBS

Hence, what was once considered a controversial but permissible narrative device or scene can now spark widespread outrage. A glaring example can be found in NCIS, a long-running crime procedural series, in which fans believe there are several inappropriate moments that would have gotten the show canceled if it was made today.

Why Lauren Holly’s Jenny Shepard Left NCIS
Image
Image via Netflix

Lauren Holly's stint as Director Jenny Shepard on CBS's military crime drama, NCIS, was originally intended to last only six episodes, but Holly ended up staying on the show for three seasons, and Director Shepard became one of the show's most beloved characters. Holly, known for her roles in Picket Fences and Dumb and Dumber, joined NCIS's team of investigators in 2005 at the start of the series' third season. Initially introduced as a former flame of series lead, Agent Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, her driven and ambitious character invigorated the series with a new energy that created an exciting dynamic between herself, Gibbs, and other characters.

A rarity in police procedurals, Holly plays the boss of the male-dominated agency, NCIS, a refreshing and inspiring figure to women who hope to break into other male-dominated fields and be respected as leaders. While demanding respect from fellow agents,...
