Gh Fan Theory: Elizabeth And Isaiah Become The Power Couple Of The Hospital
Image
General Hospital fans are searching for a new couple they can root for. Many are hoping for an Elizabeth and Isaiah pairing. This could be interesting.

Two Less Lonely People In The World

Fans are not happy about where the writers have taken Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson), probably because they have taken him nowhere. He came to Port Charles with such potential, but is now nothing but a sounding board for the women at the hospital.

Then there is Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), who has not had a decent love story since they killed off Franco (Roger Howarth). Lucky’s (Jonathan Jackson) return got our hopes up, but that fell completely flat, and now he is gone.

Could there be chemistry between these two? Definitely. They are both attractive, caring, and have many of the same values. It’s easy to see how they might get together. Of course, Lucky is Liz...

‘General Hospital’: Meet the 15 longest-running cast members of all time
Image
The doctors are in! And some of them have been for decades.

General Hospital, the longest-running soap opera in American television history, has been a daytime staple since its first broadcast on ABC on April 1, 1963. Created by Frank and Doris Hursley, the show explores intimate, emotional tales about the lives of medical staffers and their loved ones (and enemies) in the fictional town of Port Charles, N.Y. Viewers have followed some of its characters for so long, they now feel like part of the family. But who are the longest-running cast members on General Hospital? You might be surprised.

The daytime serial, which started airing in hourlong increments in 1978, celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2023 and shows no signs of slowing down as it enters its seventh decade and draws close to 16,000 total episodes. Many of the show's most well-known stars have appeared in thousands of episodes, according to IMDb,...

What We Missed on General Hospital’s Anniversary Episode
Image
General Hospital celebrated 62 years on the air on Tuesday, April 1. Laura dedicated a new cardiac center in Monica’s honor and thanked Sonny for his contribution in making it happen. Lucy showed up and talked about the Nurse’s Ball. Anna was…there. Now let’s talk about who — and what — didn’t make an appearance.

The Lady of the Hour

The hospital was named after Monica (Leslie Charleson), a long-time Gh cardiac surgeon. Charleson passed away this past January. She hadn’t been seen on-screen in years.

Would this have been the perfect occasion to announce Monica’s death and to celebrate her life and legacy? Instead, Tracy (Jane Elliot) told us Monica couldn’t make it and referred to some vague breathing issues. Is the show planning to do a tribute to Monica and Charleson at some point down the line? Or do they plan to keep her in limbo indefinitely?...

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Rebecca Herbst Who Celebrates 27 Years Of Playing Legacy Character, Elizabeth Baldwin
Image
‘General Hospital’ (Gh) spoilers reveal that on August 1, 1997, a new resident came to Port Charles. A young, pretty, and rebellious teenager named Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) arrived on the scene as the daughter of Jeff Webber (Richard Dean Anderson) and Carolyn Webber (Denise Crosby).

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Rebecca Almost Wasn’t Cast On Gh

She’s also the granddaughter of Steve Hardy (John Beradino) and Audrey Hardy (Rachel Ames). Liz came to town to live with Audrey and her sister, Sarah Webber (Jennifer Sky).

Rebecca almost wasn’t cast on Gh. She initially tested for the role of Sarah, but she didn’t get the part. However, the writers were so impressed by her that they wrote a new part specifically to suit her.

That’s how she got the role of Liz. Rebecca started to shine as an actress after her character was raped. Liz’s personality drastically changed after that happened.

Daytime Emmys flashback: The awards started with wins for ‘The Doctors,’ Elizabeth Hubbard and Macdonald Carey
Image
In the 1950s daytime programming became extremely popular, with game shows and soap operas becoming a staple in American households. Although the Emmy Awards had been established in 1949, the categories were limited for the first few years, and performers from all genres, and from both daytime and nighttime programs, were lumped together in one or two acting categories, with daytime performers usually left out.

In 1962 Mary Stuart became the only soap opera actress nominated for a Primetime Emmy, for her role as Joanne Gardner on “Search for Tomorrow.” In 1968 a category for Best Achievement in Daytime Programming was attempted, but judges decided that no one was deserving. Outraged pioneers of the genre, such as writer Agnes Nixon and “General Hospital” star John Beradino, lobbied for recognition of daytime television. In 1972 the first Emmy Awards specifically honoring daytime programming were bestowed to “The Doctors” for Best Daytime Drama and to Mary Fickett...

‘General Hospital’: Yvette Nicole Brown to Guest Star in Tribute to Real-Life Pal Sonya Eddy
Image
Later this month, General Hospital is set to honor both the late Sonya Eddy and her character, no-nonsense Gh head nurse Epiphany Johnson, in a special episode. TV Insider has learned exclusively that Yvette Nicole Brown, who’d been friends with Eddy for 20 years, will appear on Gh as part of the show’s tribute to the late actress. Eddy passed away on December 19 due to complications from a scheduled surgery that she had underwent earlier in the month. The actress joined the ABC soap opera in March 2006 as Epiphany, becoming Gh’s new head nurse, succeeding Audrey Hardy (Rachel Ames) in the position. Brown shared on Instagram last year how she and Eddy became pals. “ first met @sonyaeddy back in 2003 when we both were testing for the sitcom #TheBigHouse,” Brown wrote. “From that moment on she became a dear friend of mine. I collected her. “Sonya, @octaviaspencer, @thecurvycritic [nm1484341 autoCarla...

'Survivor: Blood vs. Water' cast: Rupert Boneham, Tina Wesson and more return
CBS has announced the 20 castaways competing on "Survivor: Blood vs. Water," the latest edition of the popular reality competition show. This season's theme will features duos of returning survivors plus a loved one. There's no word yet as to how exactly the tribes will be split.

Related: See all the 'Survivor: Blood vs. Water' cast pics

This season also features the return of Redemption Island, where one castaway will eventually have the chance to return to the game. The twist this year, however, is that loved ones can choose to "save" their partner on Redemption Island and switch places with them, thus allowing the exiled loved one to immediately re-enter the game. Interesting.

The producers really did their work on this cast -- there are some beloved faces returning, including Rupert Boneham (fourth time!), Gervase Peterson from the first season, and apparently Kat Edorsson is dating "Big Brother" winner Hayden Moss.

ABC's 'General Hospital' celebrates 50 years in operation with the return of the Nurses' Ball
Extremely few television programs even get close to marking a 50th anniversary.

As other daytime serials were taken off the air, it was possible "General Hospital" might fall just short of that mark ... but it didn't, now making the celebration all the sweeter.

The residents of the fictional Port Charles will fete the milestone in the Monday, April 1, episode of the enduring ABC soap opera. Actually, the festivities have been going on for a while, since beloved cast members and characters have made returns leading up to the newly revived Nurses' Ball that will mark the anniversary week.

Among them: Genie Francis (alias Laura Spencer), Kin Shriner (Scotty Baldwin), Jack Wagner (Frisco Jones), Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie Spencer), Vanessa Marcil (Brenda Barrett), current-season "Dancing With the Stars" contender Ingo Rademacher (Jasper "Jax" Jacks), singer-actor Rick Springfield (Dr. Noah Drake) -- and Rachel Ames (Audrey Hardy), the performer who's had the longest...
