Hulu will stream a new live-action adaptation of author Douglas Adams' "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", followed by a six-novel series, from a division of ABC Studios that focuses on development for cable and streaming outlets:

"...the last surviving man on Earth is 'Arthur Dent', following the demolition of the planet by a 'Vogon' constructor fleet, making way for a 'hyperspace bypass'.

Radio 4 have got a real treat in store for us in the spring: they're in the midst of creating a new series of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, featuring the original cast.

Six instalments of Hexagonal Phase will debut in 2018, adapted from the spin-off book And Another Thing by Eoin Colfer. They'll also include some unpublished bits and bobs from the much-missed Adams, drawn from various notebooks and writings that are currently being kept safe in the St. John’s College library in Cambridge.

Simon Jones will be back as Arthur Dent in the series, with Geoff McGivern as Ford Prefect, Mark Wing-Davey as Zaphod Beeblebrox and Sandra Dickinson as Trillian. There'll also be guest stars, including...

Douglas Adams has proven to be a notoriously difficult author to adapt to any form of video, but Dirk Gently has somehow managed to lend itself well to service as inspiration, if not actually adaptation.

Dirk Gently was already a show starring Stephen Mangan, and it was brilliant, and now BBC America brings you Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. Both shows can only legitimately claim to be “inspired by” by the Douglas Adams work, and that’s probably the only way to get something that works. Adams’ writing is too specific to the medium, and largely far too “internal” to adapt in a direct way.

In the latest show, that means that there is actually little in common with the book series in terms of the actual plot, though there is still a Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett – Penny Dreadful), who is still a “holistic” detective, and there is still...

Previously unseen Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy material is to be exclusively performed at a comedy book festival that kicks off later this week. And the good news is that tickets are still available.

Writer Jem Roberts has unearthed reams of previously undiscovered archive material from Douglas Adams as part of his research for a new biography, The Frood. His stash includes unfinished drafts of a second Hitchhiker TV series that never got made, reams of printed notes for an abandoned Dirk Gently book, A Spoon Too Short, and numerous abandoned chapters for Mostly Harmless.

But the cornerstone of the performance at the Chortle Comedy Book Festival will be a chapter from Life The Universe & Everything that was ditched before publication. In the extract, Angst In Space, Zaphod Beeblebrox faces a court interrogation.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable series. In fact it's arguably the most remarkable series ever to come out of the British Broadcasting Corporation. Not only is it a remarkable series it is also a highly successful one, having already been produced as a radio series, novel, LP and stage show.

Labelled by unimaginative producers as ‘unfilmable’, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was aired on BBC two in January 1981 to an eagerly awaiting audience of fans and hoopy froods alike. The award winning series starred many of the original cast members including Simon Jones as Arthur Dent, Mark Wing-Davey as Zaphod Beeblebrox and Peter Jones as the voice of the guide; however for the TV series a new Trillian and Ford Prefect were required.

In 2005, director Garth Jennings and producer Nick Goldsmith, better known collectively as Hammer and Tongs, finally brought Disney's long-gestating film version of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy to the big screen. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. But as this article will contend, on the subject of the 2005 cinematic adaptation of the same name, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy would have this to say: mostly harmless.

This is not a popular opinion amongst those fans who have derided the film ever since its release, but we don't intend to persuade people that they were wrong about this version of the beloved Douglas Adams story. But it was liked by some, including this writer, and so it's worth re-evaluating.

Sam Rockwell has played some pretty entertaining characters, from his role as Guy in Galaxy Quest, to Zaphod Beeblebrox in The Hitchhiker’s Guide with several serious roles in-between, but get ready to see him in a hilarious new light as Bronco/Brutus in the upcoming comedy ‘Gentlemen Broncos.’

Gentlemen Broncos tells the story of Ben Purvis, a home schooled teenage outcast and aspiring fantasy writer who attends a fantasy convention and finds his idea, Bronco, ripped off by acclaimed novelist Ronald Chevalier, who has turned desperate for ideas.

In the film, Rockwell’s character changes from Bronco to Brutus after Chevalier plagiarizes Ben’s work. Gentlemen Broncos is directed by Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite’s Jared Hess.

But still, I urge you to click back to the homepage, ignore this review (which I toiled oh-so-hard on) and spend your time checking out the other new content on Starlog’s site. Why, you ask, am I demanding that you pay never no mind to this well-written, spot-on, entertaining and informative review? (Cue the sarcasm). Well, because in this age of Spoiler reviews and full-disclosure trailers, the delight of being surprised while watching a cinematic story unfold has been lost. In this era of instantaneous information overload, it seems like we know the beginning, middle and ends of most movies before they’re even released (Wolverine anybody?).

In all my years of living science fiction, I have lost count of the number of times I have jumped to lightspeed, launched from a catapult bay, charged up the main gun or scored a kill in the money lane - at least in my head.

In reality, space ships are functional and boring, but in sci-fi, they are super-frickin-cool, so to that end I have picked my top five, based on the ones that blew me away the most.

It wasn't easy, and honourable mentions must go to to the Liberator, Serenity, the Borg Cube, Buck Rogers' interceptor, War Rocket Ajax and - most shocking of all - the Tardis. Even the Doctor's sweet ride didn't make it (aesthetics played a part in my choice - it is a police box, plus virtually everything I do has a Who link, so I decided to change up)

The last time we saw Sam Rockwell in outer space he was playing the two headed President of the Galaxy Zaphod Beeblebrox in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He plays it a little closer to home this time as the lone employee of a mining company working an outpost on the moon. He works his three-year tour of duty with hope of returning to his wife and daughter when it's all done, but things go wrong when he discovers a downed space craft (at least I think that's what's going on) containing an injured man who is his exact duplicate. This looks like a science fiction thriller with a lot of potential and things get luney (for a limited release anyway) on June 12.
