Adjoa Andoh might be high society in the Bridgerton world, but for the British actress there’s only one Lady in scriptwriting – the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes.

Andoh was full of praise for Rhimes and Bridgerton, as she revealed why she had been attracted to playing Lady Agatha Danbury in the ground-breaking period drama.

“It’s based on an internationally best-selling series, it’s being driven by the queen of long-form narrative Shonda Rhimes and is on this bonkers platform, Netflix, that goes everywhere,” she said to a charmed audience.

She was talking at the Italian Global Series Festival today after receiving her Maximo Excellence Award in Rimini this week. The award closely followed Andoh wrapping filming on Season 4 of Bridgerton, as she revealed on Instagram last week.

Andoh was also asked about a Season 2 of spin-off series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which hasn’t yet been greenlit.

During an acceptance speech, Spacey praised Italian actor-director Franco Nero, who cast him in the 2021 film L’uomo Che Disegno Dio (The Man Who Drew God), while appearing to take a thinly-veiled pop-shot at Hollywood, which has almost completely shunned him since legal issues overtook his acting career.

Arise, Sir Gary Oldman! The Oscar-winning Darkest Hour and Slow Horses actor has been knighted by King Charles III in the monarch’s birthday honors.

Oldman has been knighted for his services to drama — the first time he has received a royal accolade for his body of distinguished work. He joins contemporaries including Sir Kenneth Branagh and Sir Daniel Day-Lewis in receiving recognition from Buckingham Palace.

Oldman was last year asked about why he had not been previously honored, telling BBC News that he had not turned down an accolade. “You should ask them. No nod from the royals, but there we are,” he said. “Maybe it’s in my future.”

Oldman was one of 1,215 people to receive recognition from King Charles, with many names from the world of film, TV, and theater making the list. Also knighted was Rufus Norris, the outgoing director of the National Theatre, for his services to stage.

On Wednesday, Netflix made the news official that Bridgerton has been renewed for an additional two seasons, Seasons 5 and 6, continuing the show well past its previous renewal for Season 4. The news was announced with a letter written by Lady Whistledown touting the exciting update. The letter also encourages fans to prepare for the return of the show in 2026 when Season 4 premieres. Needless to say, it was a very exciting day for Bridgerton fans.
