Jeff Andrus was born in King City, California and graduated from Stanford University where he studied under the "Dean of the American West", Wallace Stegner.

He is best-known for his adaptation of Pope John Paul II 1960's play, "The Jeweler's Shop", "Doc" (1971), "As Summers Die", the Tracer Family mystery fiction novel series, and his newest novel, "Malibu Palms".

Additionally, Andrus wrote and had a cameo appearance in the Award-winning short film, The Proverb (2004), along with his friends, Scott Waara and Nancy Stafford.
