He was married to Malga di Paula, Zélia Cardoso de Mello, Alcione Mazzeo, Nancy Wanderley, Rose Rondelli and Regina Chaves. He died on 23 March 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
