Brianne Howey’s Georgia Faces A Life Sentence And Murder Trial In ‘Ginny & Georgia’ Season 3 Trailer
Netflix has released the full trailer for Season 3 of one of its biggest young adult hits, Ginny & Georgia, Season 3 of which could be headed down a dark path. The show returns to Netflix June 5 with 10 episodes.
Season 2 ended on quite a few chaotic notes, including Georgia (Brianne Howey) getting arrested at her fairytale wedding to Mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter).
“You know what I loved about your wedding?” Jennifer Robertson’s Ellen Baker tells Georgia in the kitchen of the Baker household. “It wasn’t this cookie cutter copy and paste affair, it was very memorable.”
“Especially the part where I was arrested,” Georgia adds.
To be clear, Georgia did commit the murder of Tom Fuller, husband of Cynthia Fuller (Sabrina Grdevich), whom she smothered in Season 2 while he was already ailing and in hospice. And her son Austin (Diesel La Torraca) witnessed her do it while he was...

The latest dystopian thriller starring horror icon Devon Sawa is set to release in theaters before going to digital platforms. Mackenzie Donaldson's All the Lost Ones was set to go straight to digital services at first, but Epic Pictures has picked it up for a small theatrical window. The film will now receive a limited release in theaters on April 18, 2025, and four days later — on April 22 — it will be available for digital purchase or rent. This is great news for the relatively small film and also for the film industry at large, as independent features rarely receive theatrical windows — especially in times when streaming has taken such a big role in terms of releasing lesser-known films.
All the Lost Ones had its premiere at the 2024 Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival. Its synopsis describes the film thusly: "In a dystopian and climate-ravaged future America torn apart by civil war, Nia,...

Probably the last thing that Grey’s Anatomy’s Link or we expected when he treated a woman injured at her divorce party was that he’d be inspired to pop the question to Jo. But that was exactly what happened in Thursday’s “Jump (For My Love).”
By the end of the episode, Link realized that his heart had fully mended after it was broken by Amelia — and that Jo’s advice way back when had helped him reach that point. In response, he raced home and blurted out, “You are my best friend. Marry me.”

There’s a wave of new and intelligent life at the indie box office this weekend post-Academy Awards after the traditionally slow, slow period for new openings. There have been a smattering of interesting films (Universal Language for one) but things have absolutely picked up with a George R.R. Martin short story on screen, a nursing home creep-out starring John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush, the latest Atom Egoyan film, a duo that landed really well at Cannes, a Bruno Dumont sci-fi, a Bruce Labruce sex romp, an Italian box office hit and more.

Seven Veils is a film about an opera. It’s more than that, however. It’s the story of two young women dealing with their trauma through opera. It’s also the story of male abuse in its different forms and how that physically and metaphorically manifests itself in the lives of the women who receive the abuse. Writer/director Atom Egoyan, through the lens of opera, directs a unique film where nothing is quite what it seems, leading Amanda Seyfried in her excellent performance through something that often feels like it’s not grounded while also not being committed to being fully mystical.
Seven Veils Review
Seven Veils opens on a brooding one-shot of Jeanine (Seyfried) walking around an opera building at night. An immediate aura of mystery is sustained by a slow violin. It’s clear that something is wrong, or at least will be wrong. This is...

Beauty and trauma collide in Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan's Seven Veils, which made its world premiere at the 2023 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival. Starring Amanda Seyfried, the film marks a reunion between her and Egoyan, more than 15 years since their first collaboration, Chloe. In fact, Chloe and Seven Veils make for an interesting double feature: shot and set in Toronto, both films examine the dark recesses of human psychology and see Seyfried playing women navigating hidden truths about themselves.
In Seven Veils, Seyfried is Jeanine, a theater director who has been hired to remount a production of Salome for the renowned Canadian Opera Company to honor the death of its creator, Charlie (who was once Jeanine's mentor and more). Management wants the production to be exactly as Charlie originally directed it, but Jeanine is adamant in making changes that are, as she puts it, "small but meaningful.

Atom Egoyan’s Seven Veils concerns the return of the repressed against the backdrop of Canadian modern life. Though Egoyan’s eerie and uncanny films rarely embrace outright surrealist logic, conventionalities of plot, dialogue, and structure tend to take secondary importance to more cerebral musings on the primal lusts, fears, and compulsions of the human psyche and culture as byproduct of those violent internal forces. It’s an unabashedly intellectual bent that the filmmaker sometimes pursues at the cost of dramatic legibility.
Seven Veils is a metatextual hall of mirrors informed by Egoyan’s theater production of Richard Strauss’s opera Salome, which he revived in 2023 after previous runs in 1996 and 2002, and the film uses sets, footage, and personnel from that production. Jeanine (Amanda Seyfried), an ambitious opera director taking over the production of Salome from her late mentor and lover, sees the opera’s sordid narrative of soiled innocence,...

"I've been asked to make this personal, so I am." XYZ Films has revealed an official trailer for Seven Veils, the latest feature from Egyptian-Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoyan (he made Guest of Honour before this). The film originally premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival a few years back but is only now getting a proper theatrical release - starting in March 2025 in a few months. An earnest theater director has the task of remounting her former mentor's most famous work, the opera Salome. Some disturbing memories from her past will allow her repressed trauma to color the present. Atom Egoyan directed the opera, Salome, in 1996, the first opera in what would be many to come over his career. Most recently, the acclaimed filmmaker was interested in exploring what the production of Salome would mean in our current culture. That led him to write the script for Seven Veils, about a...

So Help Me Todd is showing different sides of Lyle this season—we just met his mother, played by the always fantastic Jenifer Lewis!—and Tristen J. Winger couldn’t be happier. “We get to see this romantic side of Lyle. We get to see a little bit of Lyle’s history to see why he is the way that he is, because a person like Lyle just doesn’t get involved in secret missions or in a CIA or the Nsa, and he isn’t a Mensa scholar. That doesn’t happen by accident, he’s not a genius on accident,” he tells TV Insider. So to see his history come in, to give us some insight into how he became who he is, and then also how he romances as well in his relationship with Alex [Vinessa Antoine] is a pleasure to play as well.” Below, Winger teases what else is ahead,...

Black Canadian content creators attending the inaugural Black Screen Office Symposium in Toronto on Tuesday showed both excitement and anxiety as the global entertainment business model faces unprecedented disruption.
Just as an industry reckoning after the murder of George Floyd led to more Black representation among Canadian industry gatekeepers and more direct federal government investment in Black creators, the impact of Hollywood shooting fewer originals and locally commissioned series in Canada, and with lower production budgets, is rippling across the business.
The impact on local broadcasters shrinking their local content slates as Canadians increasingly shift to streaming platforms and away from traditional cable TV subscriptions also plays a part as a weak advertising market undercuts overall linear TV revenues and artificial intelligence poses an existential threat everywhere.

Amanda Seyfried reflected on being cast as a mother at the Berlin Film Festival press conference for her new film “Seven Veils,” saying that “it seems like once I popped out a baby, I was just playing mothers.” However, the mom of two does feel the roles she’s been given have “become way richer.”
In “Seven Veils,” Seyfried plays Jeanine, a theater director who is forced to deal with repressed trauma as she prepares a production of the opera “Salome.” When asked if she related to the character, Seyfried said she sympathized with Jeanine’s struggles as a mother.
“In my career, it’s still a bit new to play a mother. It seems like once I popped out a baby, I was just playing mothers, and that’s Hollywood for you. But I do think that the roles have become way richer and definitely challenging in ways that...

The traditionally celebrity-heavy Toronto Film Festival has unveiled its list of Canada’s best indie films for 2023, which includes a host of first-time directors that have come to the fore as the Hollywood actors strike put local movies and talent front and center at TIFF last September.
Canadian filmmakers were able to grab the spotlight after SAG-AFTRA members barred from promoting studio or streamer projects allowed them to fill the vacuum on TIFF red carpets and at industry events.
New directors were also favorites of Toronto programmers as a shifting TIFF film market with few American celebrities in town also allowed the marquee festival to double down on finding new creative voices.
So here’s the top Canadian feature films of 2023, as decided by film pickers in Toronto.

Matt Johnson’s drama about the meteoric rise of the world’s first smartphone, before its competitive collapse, bowed in Berlin.

Near the climax of Richard Strauss’ opera “Salome,” the title character performs the Dance of the Seven Veils for her stepfather, King Herod. The dance is done as a barter: In exchange, Herod will behead the man Salome loves so that she may kiss his lips. The Dance of the Seven Veils finds Salome swaying and whirling erotically with a set of scarves, landing somewhere between an object of sexual fascination for her onlookers and a lovestruck woman reaching for agency through movement.
“Seven Veils,” written and directed by Atom Egoyan (“The Sweet Hereafter”), follows an opera director who is staging a production of “Salome” and, like the tragic heroine, clashes with a series of men in her quest to recover a sense of control. Art and life are inextricably entangled in Atom Egoyan’s Seven Veils, a wildly ambitious, visually intoxicating reinterpretation of the Richard Strauss opera, Salome, that proves to possess almost as many layers as the Biblical princess’ famous dance routine.
After spending the past two and a half decades struggling to get his groove back following the 1997 success of The Sweet Hereafter, the filmmaker reconnects with his pet themes of alienation and family trauma, taking inspiration from his own revisionist staging of the opera, which he remounted for the Canadian Opera Company earlier this year. Using that production as a leap-off point, Egoyan interweaves a behind-the-scenes narrative involving a young director (Amanda Seyfried) who is challenged to put her own stamp on the oft-interpreted material while exorcising a number of personal demons in the process.

Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she will not be attending the world premiere of her film Seven Veils at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival amid the historic dual Hollywood strikes.
The actress took to Instagram on Saturday to share her appreciation for the Atom Egoyan-directed movie, writing, “I am So Proud of this movie and it hurts my heart not to stand next to the beautiful people who helped create this special film at our @tiff_net premiere next week.”
Seyfried noted that while the film was given a “wavier” by SAG-AFTRA to “promote this fully, magically independent Canadian movie,” it still “doesn’t feel right to head to the fest in light of the strike.”
She added, “I can’t wait to show you all Seven Veils when the time is right (and we’ve come to a fair agreement for actors and writers).”

The Toronto International Film Festival has set the world premiere for a new film from one of Canada’s own, director Atom Egoyan.
Egoyan helms “Seven Veils,” which stars his “Chloe” actress Amanda Seyfried. When CBC drama “Diggstown” hit Canadian airwaves in 2019, star Vinessa Antoine became the first Black Canadian woman to lead a prime-time drama on network television. And while plenty of ink was spilled over that stat at the beginning, when the Floyd Kane-created series wraps its fourth and final season on Nov. 16, it does so not with a media bang, but a whimper.
So what happened?
“Diggstown” revolves around a corporate lawyer named Marcie Diggs (Antoine) who begins working at a legal-aid office after her aunt takes her own life. Over its 26-episode run, the drama tackled real inequities that exist in the Canadian legal system as well as sensitive themes including mental health in the Black community, Indian Day Schools, queer rights and queer representation. For the first three seasons, those stories took place in North Preston, Nova Scotia, home to Canada’s largest Black community by population — one...

The filmmakers state that they were inspired to update the vampire mythology - explaining more: "the idea of being immortal and addicted and you have to live in darkness. Tanisha Harper, an actress who has recently appeared in series such as Dollface and Hacks, has joined ABC‘s long-running daytime soap-opera General Hospital. According to Deadline, Harper will star in a series regular role as Port Charles police commissioner Jordan Ashford, replacing Briana Nicole Henry, who exited the series last year. Harper marks the third actress to play the Jordan Ashford role, having been initially portrayed by Vinessa Antoine from March 14, 2014 to September 7, 2018. Last year, Henry announced that it was time “to move on” from the series after playing Ashford from September 13, 2018 to September 13, 2021. Her character’s final appearance saw her in a medical clinic in Albany, New York, after suffering a near-death experience. Harper was born in Tokyo and worked as a model for many years; she competed on the sixth season of Project Runway in 2008, finishing in second place. One of her first acting roles was the...

Tanisha Harper is taking over the role of Jordan Ashford on “General Hospital,” ABC confirmed to TheWrap on Wednesday. Harper’s first episodes will begin airing in March.
Briana Nicole Henry, who played the role for three years, left the series in September, saying in an Instagram post that it was time to “move on” from the daytime drama.
Since then, Jordan — who is Port Charles’ police commissioner — has been close to renal failure as she languished offscreen at a medical clinic in Albany, New York.
Before Henry, Vinessa Antoine played Jordan from March 2014 to September 2018.
Henry’s exit came just two months before longtime “General Hospital” stars Ingo Rademacher and Steve Burton were fired after refusing to comply with ABC’s vaccination mandate.
Harper has appeared in small roles in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “Dear White People,” and “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and was a regular on MyNetworkTV’s telenovela “Desire.

Exclusive: Tanisha Harper (Dollface) is joining ABC’s long-running daytime drama General Hospital as a new series regular in a recasting.
Harper will play Jordan Ashford, the Port Charles police commissioner, replacing Briana Nicole Henry, who most recently played the role and exited the series last year.
The Jordan Ashford role was initially portrayed by Vinessa Antoine from March 14, 2014 to September 7, 2018. Henry took over the role from September 13, 2018 to September 13, 2021, when she announced that she felt it was time for her “to move on” from the series.
When we last saw Jordan, she was sent to a medical clinic in Albany, NY. With only one kidney, she was close to renal failure after a near-death experience. The character wasn’t killed off, however, so the door remained open for a return.
Harper’s first episodes will begin airing in March.
Harper most recently guest-starred on Hulu’s Dollface and Hacks on HBO Max.
