There are horror films that wear their intentions on their sleeve and then there are those that lure viewers in with a false sense of security only to repeatedly devastate the unsuspecting at every turn. The 2019 horror film The Lodge falls squarely into the latter category.
This picture melds themes of grief, religious trauma, and isolation, serving up a cinematic cocktail that is unpredictable, shocking, and often tough to watch. Similar to Hereditary before it, The Lodge just continues to deliver blows until the viewer is beaten to a bloody pulp.
If the promise of total cinematic devastation has piqued your curiosity, you may be interested to know that The Lodge is presently available to stream on Tubi.
While we are dropping knowledge, you may be equally interested to learn that the film features a descendant of none other than Elvis Presley in a lead role. That’s right, core...

In the history of comic book cinema, few roles are coveted as much as playing Batman. Even long before the age of superhero dominance came in the 2000s, Tim Burton's "Batman" was a smash hit that helped make Michael Keaton a superstar. The Caped Crusader is one of the most enduring and beloved characters to ever debut in the pages of a comic book. Naturally, when Zack Snyder was looking to cast a new actor as Batman for what ultimately became "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," Warner Bros. cast a wide net, with quite a few actors in the mix. One of those actors had just come off a major role in the highly successful "Hobbit" franchise.

Across its three seasons, Hannibal had many talented actors. From Mads Mikkelsen, who gave the performance of his lifetime, to Hugh Dancy, who excellently understood Will Graham, and even Laurence Fishburne, who performed as Jack Crawford, the show knew how to do its casting.
While most of the show’s actors prefer staying in the indie scene, shying away from flashy films, there are a few who balance the two worlds very well. Although Mikkelsen would be the first example of the latter category, there is another actor who also fits but didn’t get to star in the series for long.
Even though Richard Armitage only starred in the six episodes of the show as the Great Red Dragon, his presence was certainly impactful.

Sarah Paulson’s Tammy in Ocean’s 8 was one of the most memorable characters in a film whose cast was entirely led by women. As the women-led heist-comedy was released in 2018, there were very few movie lovers who did not love the premise.
Though Ocean’s 8 fell a little short of creating the same onscreen magic as its mighty predecessors, the film was remarkable nonetheless. Even more astounding was the film’s stellar cast, which was, in the literal sense, a galaxy of stars.
Led by Sabdra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, among others, the film also starred Rihanna and Sarah Paulson in remarkable roles. While the audience was left in shock by the cast, the film’s stars were also equally astonished, as revealed by Paulson’s candid confession.

There aren’t too many things binding the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Star Wars galaxy. Apart from the fact that the parent companies of both these IPs co-exist under the Walt Disney umbrella. But as anyone could tell, Lucasfilm and Marvel are far more connected than just through ownership.
Now, this isn’t as simple as a Death Star Easter egg in Spider-Man or a cheesy Obi-Wan Kenobi reference from Phil Coulson. Instead, we must look at something called the celebrity paradox.
When a character’s pop culture presence breaks through into other worlds because the actor exists in our minds as someone else from a different universe, that is a celebrity paradox. And no place is this paradox louder than two of Disney’s biggest franchises in the 21st century.

Love him or hate him, mystery fans can't get enough of Harlan Coben. The American novelist has attracted devoted readers from around the world who buy his books for their shocking twists, indulgent characters, and thrillingly baffling conclusions. Some have favorably compared him to Stephen King; others, such as The Independent's Nick Hilton, feel that he makes "The Da Vinci Code" author Dan Brown look like "a paragon of literary restraint" by comparison.
Naturally, Coben has caught the attention of Hollywood producers. There had been some successful attempts at adapting his work in the 2000s and 2010s, as well as a few unsuccessful attempts. Things really took off in 2018, when Coben signed a deal with Netflix to produce several serialized adaptations of his work. The results have been very mixed, so we took a look at them all to determine which Harlan Coben Netflix series is the best.

If you watch a lot of thrillers on Netflix, chances are you've come across the Harlan Coben collection. Yes, Netflix actually calls it that. It's a lineup of 10 twisty, binge-worthy mystery shows based on Coben’s bestselling novels and one original series. However, it's worth mentioning that while some are excellent, others might not hit the same mark. That being said, if you’re looking for the best of the bunch, Fool Me Once should be the one you prioritize. Let me tell you why.
First off, it's an adaptation of arguably one of Coben's best books. The 2016 novel is a perfect blend of suspense, mystery, and unexpected twists, which translates seamlessly into the Netflix show. That might have something to do with Danny Brocklehurst being the creative to adapt the book to series. He previously worked as a writer on the Coben series adaptations The Stranger and Stay Close.

If you're a fan of thrillers, Netflix has no shortage of options, especially with its selection of Harlan Coben adaptations. Coben, known for his suspenseful novels, has become a popular name in the streaming world with many of his books turned into Netflix shows. However, not all of them live up to the hype.
As of right now, there are 10 television series adaptations and one original series of his currently streaming on Netflix. They are Safe, Stay Close, The Innocent, The Stranger, Gone for Good, The Woods, Hold Tight, Missing You, Caught, Fool Me Once and Just One Look. While each of these series has its share of twists and surprises, not all of them succeed in maintaining your interest or keeping the momentum strong throughout. Some may leave you hooked for a few episodes, only to disappoint with predictable plotlines, pacing issues, underdeveloped characters, or unsatisfying conclusions.

If you browse through Netflix's thriller section, you'll notice that Harlan Coben’s adaptations continue to dominate. The streaming platform currently hosts 10 series based on his novels, along with one original show not tied to his published works. In 2025, three out of those 10 series adaptations were released. First was Missing You, followed by Just One Look and then Caught (Atrapados).
But with all three offering their own unique twists, which one truly stands out? Which one will have you hooked from beginning to end and leave you wanting more? In this article, we rank all three from worst to best, so you can find the perfect binge for your next thriller fix.

Netflix kicked off the year with the release of Missing You, a mystery series adapted from Coben's 2014 novel. In early March, the platform debuted the Polish-language thriller Just One Look, based on Coben's 2004 book of the same name. Most recently, Netflix launched the Argentinian series Caught, which is based on Coben's 2010 book. I got the chance to watch all three shows, and while none of them were complete misses,...

Harlan Coben novels are always an experience. But when the bestseller author works with three long-time friends and creative collaborators to move their setting from the U.S. to the U.K. and adapt his stories for the screen, they are looking to make them into an entirely different experience altogether. Case in point: Netflix’s 2024 hit Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan, Adeel Akhtar, Dino Fetscher, Richard Armitage and Joanna Lumley, which was the streamer’s biggest show of the year and garnered 12 billion viewing minutes.
“I call us The Core Four,” Coben tells THR on a Zoom call, where he is joined by the three others he’s referring to: star producer Nicola Shindler, CEO and executive producer at Quay Street Productions, the production firm, part of ITV Studios, that has been producing the hit Coben series; Quay Street head of drama and executive producer Richard Fee, and writer Danny Brocklehurst.

Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy established what the Dwarves of Middle-earth looked like. Those present in the prologue of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and at the Council of Elrond were all similar in appearance to Gimli; they had long hair, exaggerated facial features achieved through the use of prosthetic makeup, and most famously, large, bushy beards. They represented the classic, stereotypical image of fantasy Dwarves. Yet when Jackson returned almost a decade later for The Hobbit trilogy, he and the artists at Wētā Workshop broke the typical Dwarven mold. Some members of Thorin's Company, such as Balin and Glóin, would have fit right in alongside The Lord of the Rings' Dwarves, but others looked quite unusual by Dwarven standards.

Who knew Middle-earth’s biggest plot twist had happened off-camera? Richard Armitage, the brooding dwarf king Thorin Oakenshield himself, spilled the beans on The Hobbit’s ever-evolving script. By the time filming wrapped, the script had been rewritten so many times, it was a wonder the cast didn’t get whiplash trying to keep up.

Ever since he brooded his way to Bilbo's door in The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey, Richard Armitage has built a solid acting career between Hollywood and the UK. Like most actors from the Isles, he had a strong foundation of credits beforehand in the more local market with British productions, but with that also came early credits in another major Hollywood franchise that is often shot in the UK.
Although his sharp features, rumbling voice, and heavy stare are now iconic from his role as Thorin Oakenshield, one of his earliest appearances is as a background actor. All greats need to start somewhere, whether it's promoting a restaurant in a chicken suit like Brad Pitt or being an out-of-focus background actor for an A-lister's closeup. So where...

The story of the making of "Star Trek: Discovery" is well-known to Trekkies with a smattering of inside-baseball knowledge. Bryan Fuller was asked to create a new "Star Trek" series by the higher-ups at CBS, and he was eager to do so. He loved "Star Trek," having written scripts for "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and "Star Trek: Voyager." He and Alex Kurtzman began assembling a new series, as CBS didn't yet have an idea of what they wanted. Fuller had a novel idea: a "Star Trek" anthology series. He envisioned a series of multiple 10-episode seasons, each one set at a different time within the future history of "Star Trek." The first season would take place shortly before the events of the original "Star Trek," the second would run concurrently with the original "Star Trek," the third during the age of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," and so on,...

The Netflix animated series adaptation of Castlevania has become a massive success, thanks to Sam and Adam Deats’ intricate research of the original video games. There’s not one point of lore the duo has missed, especially the former, who directed each episode from Season 1 to 4.

Despite the adaptation straying away from video games, it’s actually a breath of fresh air. Castlevania gets rid of all the slow-pacing, and all the complicated stuff isn’t in your control. Sam and Adam Deats make sure to streamline the story in a new way but retain the lore.
The directors acknowledge the diverse audience and cater the Netflix adaptation to both old and new fans alike, no matter where they are in the world. They also mix in the style of the original game designer, Ayami Kojima, and the fluidity of Japanese animation.

As we shared recently here, the new cast for Run Away, the next Harlan Coben limited series on Netflix has been revealed. There are lots of big names and great actors in the new cast list. There were also a few surprises and an extra reveal from a writer working on the production.
Based on Coben’s 2019 book of the same name it has all his usual trademark signs for a great show. The plot has a father, played by James Nesbitt, searching with his wife, Minnie Driver, for their runaway daughter, Ellie de Lange. The cast also includes Ruth Jones as a private investigator also searching for the daughter.
We can expect plenty of the usual mysteries, twists, and turns from Coben shows. Each episode reveals more about the characters and how they link together. The cast playing them looks superb with many top actors. The immediate focus from fans online was on Nesbitt,...

On the heels of Harlan Coben's new Netflix show, Missing You, which premiered on New Year's Day, Netflix shared two interesting updates about the cast and filming start of Run Away, one of the upcoming Harlan Coben Netflix shows.
James Nesbitt, who also starred in Missing You and Stay Close, two of the three most recent of Coben's Netflix shows, will star in Run Away. Ruth Jones and Minnie Driver will join Nesbitt, according to Netflix.
In the series, Nesbitt stars as Simon Greene, a father "whose perfect life starts to crumble after his daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange), well, runs away," according to Netflix. The story is based on Coben's 2019 book of the same name, so if you want to find out what happens, that's a good place to start!

According to Netflix, Armitage will not be in Run Away. Instead, Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch, and Ruth Jones will star in the upcoming thriller based on Coben's book of the same name.
Regarding Armitage's absence in Run Away, Coben told Netflix: “I'm sure we'll work together again in the future.”

Castlevania and its spin-off/sequel, Castlevania: Nocturne, are among the finest animated efforts we've had from Netflix. The shows, based on the popular Japanese video game series of the same name courtesy of Konami, are well-known for their distinctive anime-inspired, imperfect, and striking animation and dark narratives that aren't afraid to address complex issues in service of a traditional monster-hunting story. Both series center on the Belmont Clan of vampire hunters. The original Castlevania takes place in the mid-14th century and follows Trevor Belmont's (Richard Armitage) efforts to protect Walachia, modern-day Romania, from Dracula (Graham McTavish) and other vampire threats. Nocturne is set three hundred years later in French Revolution France and follows Trevor's descendant, Richter Belmont (Edward Bluemel), as he battles Erzsebet Bathory (Franka Potente), the so-called "vampire messiah."...

In many ways, "Castlevania: Nocturne" season 2 mirrors "Castlevania" season 2. Given that "Castlevania" season 2 is widely considered the show's best season, that's a huge compliment. They both amp up the ideas, storylines, and action of their respective debuts, deepening the core themes and giving increased screen time to the villains. And just like "Castlevania" season 2, the sophomore outing of "Nocturne" wraps up most of the major arcs begun in its first season. However, certain threads are intentionally left hanging in the event of a season 3.
Members of the "Castlevania" creative team have made it clear they're not done yet and would love to keep going with "Nocturne" if Netflix approves another set of episodes. If that happens, season 3 will likely involve the mysterious dark spirit seen gliding around in the background of season 2. This character never speaks, nor do they get an official name,...

Harlan Coben's latest adaptation continues a positive Netflix trend for the acclaimed writer and executive producer. Missing You, which debuted on January 1, is among the most-watched shows so far this year on the platform.
Per FlixPatrol, the Coben adaptation debuted at No. 3 on Netflix's Top 10 most-watched series list and is still yet to drop below fourth place. Missing You's success continues the mystery novel writer's streak of wins since he inked a multi-million-dollar, 5-year contract with Netflix in 2018. Per the terms of the deal, the giant streamer would develop fourteen of his novels for the big and small screen, with Coben as executive producer on all projects. The deal was extended in 2022 following the arrival of The Stranger, The Woods, The Innocent, Gone For Good, Stay Close, and Hold Me Tight, all to varying degrees of acclaim. 2024's Fool Me Once was Coben's last adaptation to debut before his latest effort.

While there are a bunch of good Netflix shows coming in 2025, there were also a lot of good Netflix shows that were overlooked last year. We shared a list of the seven best Netflix shows you might have missed in 2024.
Overall, 2024 was a challenging year for new TV and film. Because Netflix and the other studios were unable to make a deal with the actors' and writers' unions, TV production was delayed for the majority of 2023. So, in 2024, there simply were fewer shows than fans were expecting. And yet, there were still several underrated series fans needed to watch. Well, now, it's time to get caught up before Netflix starts dropping even more big shows in 2025.
For some reason, Adeel Akhtar stars in three of the seven Netflix shows I picked. That was not intentional, but my guy is an incredible actor! Everything he's in is good!

Missing You is one of the most popular Netflix shows of 2025 so far, and fans can't stop talking about the big twist in the series finale, "Chain Reaction." Unfortunately, it's not for all of the right reasons.
Spoilers ahead for the series finale of Missing You!
Rosalind Eleazar, who stars in the series as Detective Kat Donovan, recently opened up about the series finale and why it was important to leave the story open-ended. Here's what Eleazar told Entertainment Weekly about the decision to leave things up to viewers' interpretation:
"I was more on the side of keeping it open. There's a final hand moment at the end and I thought, I dunno whether I feel that that's too quick. That's just so heavy. Your fiancé's killed your dad. It's too much to process. However, I also do like that you can interpret her sort of touching his hand at the end as,...

Everyone’s tuning in to Missing You on Netflix, and with only five episodes, it’s quick to binge-watch in no time! If you found yourself hooked on this mystery thriller and are craving more of Harlan Coben’s thrilling storytelling, you're in luck.
This New York Times bestselling author has many other shows similar to Missing You streaming on Netflix. This is due to his overall deal with the streamer, which involves him adapting his books into TV shows and movies for the streaming platform. Missing You is his most recent Netflix series adaptation, but many of his other books have already been turned into shows for the streaming service.
However, that doesn't mean they're all entertaining. We would hate for you to waste your time going through the rest of Coben's collection on Netflix without knowing which ones are truly worth the binge. That's why we're about to...

Looking for something new to watch this January? Or perhaps an old favorite to dip back into. Taking some tips from what lots of other people have been watching could be a great way to do so.
This could be similar to looking for a busy restaurant that's popular with the locals. It should be a sign of a great place to eat. So why wouldn't you want to see the shows that have almost one and a quarter billion views from people watching on Netflix?
That’s the staggering number of views that the ten most watched shows on Netflix in English have clocked up. All those people can't be wrong, can they? Now, there is a slight warning here, too; you might likely be one of those viewers for some of the shows in the top ten. That’s fine and not a problem, it just shows what good taste you have.
