EastEnders (1985)
'Enders director reveals live ep challenges
EastEnders (1985)
EastEnders' live episode director Clive Arnold has revealed that the soap's team faced many challenges when planning the special instalment. Speaking in an interview with Digital Spy, Arnold explained that most of the problems stemmed from the aim to keep the 25th anniversary edition as story-driven as possible. Tonight's episode will feature the long-awaited reveal of which character killed Archie Mitchell and it is also expected to bring other story arcs to a climax. Arnold explained: "I always thought the most important thing was for [lead show writer] Simon [Ashdown] to write the story without worrying that it was going to be live and then for us to see what problems that brought as far as the live format was concerned. We have tried to resolve any problems without affecting (more)...

EastEnders (1985)
'EastEnders' live ep is 'story driven'
EastEnders (1985)
EastEnders' live episode director Clive Arnold has insisted that tonight's special 25th anniversary broadcast is entirely driven by storyline and is not simply a 'gimmick'. Speaking in an interview with Digital Spy, Arnold claimed that the soap's team had been sensible in coming up with the idea of the live instalment for story purposes alone. Today's long-awaited edition of the show will feature the reveal of who killed Archie Mitchell. The decision to air the murder mystery plot's climax live has helped to maintain the strict secrecy surrounding the storyline, as even the cast member who plays the killer will not be informed until just moments before. EastEnders (1985)
'Enders live team 'hope for dry weather'
EastEnders (1985)
The director of EastEnders' forthcoming live episode has revealed that he is "praying" for good weather on the night. In an interview with Digital Spy, Clive Arnold confirmed that the soap's team will face continuity problems if it is raining at the start of tomorrow's 25th anniversary broadcast. Discussing the challenges posed by the special instalment, Arnold commented: "The biggest limitation is the weather - we have absolutely no control over it whatsoever. "The Thursday finishes with a set of characters outside in the Square and the Friday begins with the same set of characters in the same location - what we call a direct pickup between the two episodes.
