  • Arthur attended The Liverpool Institute High School for Boys, which included The Beatles Sir Paul McCartney and the late George Harrison, amongst its former pupils.
  • Suffered a serious accident whilst performing on stage. A trapdoor suddenly opened where Arthur Askey stood and he fell several feet.
  • The TV rights to all of Arthur Askey's films have been bought by pop producer fan Pete Waterman.

  • A few of Arthur Askey's films included Moore Marriott and Graham Moffat, cast as the comedian's new sidekicks after they had ceased working with Will Hay. They once again played their respective characters of Harbottle and Albert.
  • A memorial service was held for him at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London on 24 March 1983.
  • He was a choirboy and sang in the Liverpool Cathedral choir.
  • Alun Owen used to be Arthur's straight man in Arthur's first television series.
  • He was born in Moses Street, Sethy Park, Liverpool.
  • He left school and went to work in the Liverpool Education Offices.
