In the 1990s, one name dominated TV miniseries: Stephen King. At the time, King had become the wealthiest writer in history, author of such popular novels as Misery, Carrie, It, The Stand and dozens more. While some of his titles -- Carrie, The Shining -- found homes on the big screen, many more became celebrated TV miniseries, attracting millions of viewers. In 1993, King and ABC partnered to add one more to the miniseries roster: The Tommyknockers.
Based on King’s 1987 novel of the same name -- one of King’s least-favorite of his own works -- The Tommyknockers attracted a wide audience, but earned mixed to negative reviews. Today, it has a reputation as one of the weakest of all King’s adaptations. Viewed more than 30 years later, however, The Tommyknockers stands out as an unusual King story. An entire family gather to renovate their creaking childhood home in this easygoing, truthful portrait
“All happy families are alike,” the famous first line of Anna Karenina tells us. “But each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” The opening scene of this heart-on-sleeve American indie drama gives an almighty – and none too subtle – hint as to which sort of family is going to be the subject here. A plumber is in the basement of a family home in Chicago peering with a spy camera into the pipes. Something is rotting under the house: a rat! Worse, the ancient creaking pipes might collapse at any moment.
The house belongs to out-of-work actor and scriptwriter Graham Landry (Josh Radnor); more accurately it actually belongs to his successful older brother Will (Rob Huebel) the star of an outrageously awful hit TV series. It was their childhood home, bought by Will from their parents.

Comedy and Hollywood icon Eddie Murphy is all set to return to the world of action comedy, but not as Beverly Hills Cop’s Axel Foley. No, this time, Murphy will lead the original action outing Blue Falcon, which finds the Shrek star channeling James Bond as a retired superspy who finds himself in danger while attending his son’s wedding.
According to Deadline, Blue Falcon will be “a two-hander action comedy,” with Sony Pictures having now picked up the rights to the project. If the idea of Eddie Murphy as a retired superspy is not quite enough to have you excited for the action movie shenanigans to come, Blue Falcon has been written by Chad St. John, whose previous writing credits include the action thriller Peppermint starring Jennifer Garner, the Gerard Butler-led action sequel London Has Fallen, and the upcoming Motor City starring Reacher’s Alan Ritchson.

Hitting Netflix on July 3, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F was a smash hit that reunited Eddie Murphys titular character with his longtime pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton). Along the way, he hooks up with Joseph Gordon-Levitts Detective Bobby Abbott to unravel a vast conspiracy, which at one point sees them steal a helicopter. It was a high-octane scene that utilized both practical effects and CGI, but veteran pilot Fred North said that director Mark Molloy wasnt too impressed with the stunt, until he decided to come along for the ride.
Appearing in a new video with Corridor Crew (seen below), North broke down the helicopter scene in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F with hosts Niko and Wren. It starts off with Murphy and Gordon-Levitt commandeering the helicopter from the roof of the Bhpd, and after flying through the streets of Beverly Hills ends with them crashing on a golf course.

Stunt pilot Fred North reflects on Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F director Mark Molloy becoming alarmed by a helicopter stunt executed during the film's production. As the fourth installment of the Beverly Hills Cop series, the film brings back Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley alongside his old friends John Taggart (John Ashton) and Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) when Axel's daughter's life is threatened. The stunt, which involved a helicopter crash filmed with practical effects, left Molloy visibly shaken.
During a video with Corridor Crew's Niko and Wren, North describes the Beverly Hills Cop 4 stunt as meticulously planned and executed, using a real helicopter to achieve the scene. Molloy's reaction underscores the intensity of the stunt, which combined real elements with visual effects. North also shared how practice sessions for the stunt took place in a desert field, building up to the final sequence that left Molloy astonished. Check out the video here:

Eddie Murphy Reveals the Real Reason to Return as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop: Here’s What Made Him Say “Yes”! (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Eddie Murphy’s back as Axel Foley, and we’ve got Jerry Bruckheimer to thank for it! Let’s rewind a second. The whole Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley thing has been in movie limbo for years. Studio execs were practically throwing scripts at Murphy, but none stuck. Murphy himself admitted he read “five or six different scripts,...

He appeared in the original 1984 film, the 1987 sequel Beverly Hills Cop II, and recently reprised the role for the 2024 Netflix-funded sequel, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.

Dysfunctional family dynamics are in full swing in All Happy Families. The engaging dramedy, headlined by Josh Radnor and directed by Haroula Rose, finds one family in major flux. Suddenly, all at once, its as if everything in life has changed. Perhaps more challenging to accept is the fact that they, too, must change if theyre ever going to emerge gracefully from significant life transitions.
Joining Radnor is Chandra Russell (South Side), Becky Ann Baker, John Ashton (the Beverly Hills Cop films), and Rob Huebel. The films premise finds the Landry familys collective life angst converging around the same time. One of the most refreshing aspects of the film is that it delivers a rare achievement: delivering an adult coming-of-age story, which proves that not every major life transition just happens between the ages of 11 and 18.
To that end, the filmmaker, who also co-wrote the film with Coburn Goss, suggests...

All Happy Families introduces us to the Landry family of Chicago. At the center is Graham, an aspiring actor and writer, played by Josh Radnor. He’s got his hands full with repairs to the old family home and finding a new tenant.
Enter Dana, an old flame and friend looking for an apartment—perhaps their fondness will rekindle. But Graham’s plans face disruption with the arrival of brother Will, a television star dealing with problems of his own back home.
Adding layers of complexity are their parents, Sue and Roy. Sue is coping with inappropriate behavior from her former boss, while Roy struggles with private demons. Deftly weaving these threads are co-writers Haroula Rose and Coburn Goss, exploring intimacy and heartache within a beloved cinematic form—the dysfunctional family.
Subtly directed by Rose, the characters feel vibrantly real as their stories unfold. With empathy and care, layered social themes emerge from intimate moments.

Eddie Murphy's Axel Foley encountered some wild villains during his Beverly Hills Cop misadventures, but some way rank higher than others. The Beverly Hills Cop movies are basically Eddie Murphy showing off his movie star prowess, with the original 1984 film only cementing his growing fame. Murphy also hated the Beverly Hills Cop sequels (though his stance on the second film has softened greatly) so much it took him 30 years to work up the enthusiasm for a fourth outing.
While Netflix's belated Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F was far from flawless, it underlined that Murphy's star power remains intact. Time will tell if Beverly Hills Cop 5 will happen, but given the positive response to part four, there's a good possibility. Murphy's Axel is so overpowering in the films that the villains often fail to register, which has been a problem. In short, most of his antagonists have been a bit lame,...

The best comedic performances from the 1980s are still just as funny decades later. The 1980s produced plenty of hilarious comedy movies, with studios investing in original ideas and fresh talents. Actors like Eddie Murphy and Bill Murray were on top of their game in the 1980s, delivering some iconic performances which have stood the test of time. 40 years later or more, they are still career-defining.
1980s comedies had a particular feel to them. Before the cynicism and dark comedies of the 1990s, Hollywood comedies in the 1980s were mostly optimistic and comforting. Characters still went through dire straits, but there was always hope that they would come out on the other side as better and happier people. This style of comedy is always popular, since its hopeful nature is great to rewatch over and over again.

Some of the best action movies are available to stream on Netflix, mainly because the streamer has always prioritized the acquisition of action films (the spectacle of fist fights and explosions crosses the language barrier and appeals to movie audiences all over the world). An Indonesian action movie like The Raid can find a global audience on Netflix, while box office disappointments have another chance at finding their audiences on streaming services.
Since the platform started producing and distributing its own content, Netflix has brought action-packed hidden gems from the U.S., Indonesia, and all over the world to a wider audience. The streamers expansive library of content also ensures that fan-favorite blockbusters that are part of beloved franchises are available for a timely rewatch too. From original Netflix exclusive action movies to thrilling licensed hits, there are plenty of riveting action films available to stream on Netflix.
