This article contains mentions of murder, sexual crimes, and near-death experiences. It also contains Spoilers for Criminal Minds.
Criminal Minds is renowned as one of the greatest entries in the crime procedural genre, but arguably the best part of each episode was Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) and her sharp dialogue. The FBI technical analyst was the quintessential quirky character that added an air of levity and charm to even the most gruesome investigations. Even as the Behavioral Analysis Unit (Bau) encountered the most disturbing unsubs in Criminal Minds, Garcia was always prepared with a clever play on words or affectionate monikers for her coworkers.
Vangsness portrayed the character throughout all 15 seasons of Criminal Minds, with Penelope only absent from a single episode in the pilot season— even then she was still mentioned, a testament to how vital her presence in the series was from the start. Baby Ruby (2022) Movie Ending Explained: Of the many unspoken truths about childbirth, postpartum depression is the most hush-hushed. It is something that almost every new mother experiences after the birth of a child and is commonly dismissed as “baby blues.” However, in some cases, this depressive spell may last for days and weeks at end, leading to an extreme mood disorder or postpartum psychosis. If you are still unsure about the effects childbirth has on a new mother, Bess Wohl’s debut feature, Baby Ruby, a tightly-knit thriller drama film, should be your go-to reference. It brings along the discomfort of watching a new mother, Jo (played by Noémie Merlant), start losing her mind and feeling threatened by her baby.
Merlant shines in this drama as a woman whose perfectly scripted life gets dismantled like a tower of cards after she gives birth to the child. Wohl doesn’t begin...

This article contains spoilers for Fear the Walking Dead season 8 and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
With the sprawling world of AMC’s The Walking Dead ballooning to a franchise that includes sequels, prequels, and anthology series, it’s easy to forget the humble roots of the Frank Darabont days and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) waking up in the Harrison Memorial Hospital. While it’s sometimes hard to keep track of the various branches of the Deadverse, few have continued the story as faithfully as Fear the Walking Dead.
Starting out as a prequel to the events of the main series, Fear the Walking Dead soon took on a life of its own and told an epic story across eight seasons. Some shows lose their charm over time due to a decline in quality, lack of excitement, or controversies. Popular TV series may continue past their prime, putting viewers in an uncomfortable position to stick around. It's okay to walk away from a show you once loved if it no longer holds your interest or offers the same enjoyment.
Ive always loved to shine a light on my favorite TV shows, but sadly, certain series reached a point where I had to give up on being a fan after years of unquestioned devotion. This was always a difficult development, as whenever I connected with a TV series, I usually wanted to stick around until the very end and see how things panned out for characters I had grown to love. But sometimes, a decline in quality, a lack of narrative excitement, or even behind-the-scenes controversies meant I had to wave goodbye to a once beloved show.

David Harbour's first big TV role was in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Harbour also played other characters within the Law & Order franchise during the early years of his career. The Law & Order franchise, and Special Victims Unit in particular, were a big stepping stone in David Harbour's acting career on screen.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is currently the longest-running primetime live-action series on American television, and so it makes sense that many famous actors have guest-starred or made cameos in the show. Sometimes, these actors appear in an episode of Law & Order: Svu before they become household names, with the Dick Wolf series becoming a stepping stone on their path to success. Such is the case of David Harbour, who in recent years has earned international recognition and the public's affection thanks to his starring role as Jim Hopper in Stranger Things.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Death and Other Details‘ Season Finale, “Chilling.”] And just like that, a seafaring “whodunnit?” became an icy “to whom have they dunnit to know?!” In the final hour of Hulu‘s stylish, sassy, and serpentine mystery dramedy, a lot happened: We learned who killed Katherine Collier (Jayne Atkinson), saw Imogene (Violett Beane) turn the tables on her evil mom Kira, aka Viktor Sams, aka Agent Hilde Eriksen (Linda Emond) and send her to prison for the murders of half the guests on the ship, witnessed the darkest turn yet for Imogene’s former bestie Anna (Lauren Patten) and got the setup for a potential Season 2. More importantly, we were given our potential heroes for the next mystery. In the episode’s last moments, Imogene and three of her fellow doomed cruise survivors—defamed journalist Leila (Pardis Saremi), ship doyenne Teddy (Angela Zhou), and sexy Af ex-con-slash-head of security Jules (Hugo Diego Garcia)—stumbled ...

Benoit Blanc's character could benefit from having an assistant, like Rufus Cotesworth in Death and Other Details. Introducing a detective protégé for Blanc could add a new dynamic to Knives Out 3 without straying from its successful formula. The lack of a Holmes/Watson dynamic in the Knives Out films could be filled by bringing in a younger character to learn from Blanc.
The Knives Out films introduced Benoit Blanc as one of the greatest fictional modern detective characters, but a new Hulu mystery series has exposed a missed opportunity for his character that could and should be explored in subsequent additions to the franchise. Rian Johnson’s Benoit Blanc is a major reason the Knives Out films have been so successful, with Daniel Craig’s character being the constant between them. Knives Out 3 has been confirmed, and one new character could bring out what the films have been missing thus far.

To solve a crime, says world’s foremost detective Rufus Cotewsorth, you must learn to see through the illusion and notice every detail. With the award-winning “Only Murders in the Building” already under its belt, Hulu is dipping back into the whodunit waters as it sets sail with the all-new “Death and Other Details.” Stage and screen star Mandy Patinkin (“Homeland”) and Violett Beane (“The Flash”) lead the cast as Cotesworth and his reluctant protégée Imogen, who must solve a locked-room murder mystery onboard a Mediterranean luxury liner and clear Imogen’s name. “Death and Other Details” will premiere on Hulu on Tuesday, Jan. 14. It isn’t just you. We’re two weeks into the new year and every show on TV has become a murder mystery.
There are reality murder mysteries (Traitors) and animated murder mysteries (Grimsburg) and British murder mysteries (Criminal Record) and occult murder mysteries (Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale). There are murder mysteries without daylight (True Detective: Night Country) and adapted recent murder mysteries (Fool Me Once) and adapted characters in original murder mysteries (Monsieur Spade).
Those are just January premieres. So far. There’ll be at least one more new murder mystery before the end of the week (The Woman in the Wall).
It’s easy to point to the blockbuster success of the two Knives Out movies and the steady success of the Kenneth Branagh/Michael Green-steered Hercule Poirot movies as a business-driven cause.
Sociologically, it’s easy to point to a decade of distrust of institutional policing...

The Walking Dead’s spinoffs present the franchise with a much-needed opportunity to bring back a missing character whose storyline was never finished. With the conclusion of its main series, the franchise said goodbye to the majority of its characters and the stories that went with them. However, it has a few dropped plotlines from previous seasons that could be revived in the spinoffs.
To some degree, these shows are expected to explore new adventures for its pre-existing characters, such as the case with Dead City, which will send Negan and Maggie to New York to find Herschel. Rick and Michonne’s show, on the other hand, will be tied directly to the show’s biggest loose end, the Crm’s abduction of Rick Grimes in season 9. And Daryl Dixon, which is sending its titular protagonist to Europe, is on track to explore The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s France tease.

Baby Ruby is a horror movie written and directed by Bess Wohl starring Noémie Merlant and Kit Harington.
This is a suprise in her debut as a suspense and horror film director that makes one thing clear: She knows how to direct.
Excellent rhythm and tension.
Storyline
A mother experiences her worst nightmare when, after her daughter Ruby arrives, her world starts turning into a nightmare after she has visions and episodes where she loses her mind, which are all related to her baby.
Movie Review Baby Ruby (2022)
This is a movie that stands out more in the directing than in the screenplay, both of these are by the same person. An excellent movie as far as rhythm is concerned and knowing how to keep the tension up, with a balanced editing, filming, good photography and… on top of this, the director manages to get good acting from the main actress Noémie Merlant,...

An excellent movie as far as rhythm is concerned and knowing how to keep the tension up, with a balanced editing, filming, good photography and… on top of this, the director manages to get good acting from the main actress Noémie Merlant,...

Motherhood can be hell. That's what writer-director Bess Wohl's new feature, Baby Ruby, presents as its hypothesis. It isn't the first movie to do so, and it surely will not be the last. Recent years have seen the conversation surrounding motherhood change to acknowledge its difficulties more and more. Baby Ruby applies a horror slant to the concept and is filled to the brim with compelling, timely ideas. Unfortunately, it never stays in place long enough to see any of those ideas through. Baby Ruby shows plenty of initial promise, but its refusal to follow through on threads and its reliance on basic scares leaves it feeling hollow.

“Both mother and baby are doing well,” claim so many birth announcements — an innocuous flash of good news that, in all too many cases, proves to be a bit premature. The baby may be fine after weathering the ordeal of entering the world; the mother might not yet be out of the woods. The strains and vagaries of postpartum depression — still widely misunderstood and even shamed by those who haven’t experienced it — morph into literal horrors in “Baby Ruby,” a stylish and suitably stressful debut feature from Tony-nominated playwright Bess Wohl (“Grand Horizons”). As Wohl rather boldly challenges her audience to maintain belief in, and sympathy for, the anxieties and psychoses tormenting otherwise privileged new mother Josephine (Noémie Merlant), any viewers who waver only prove her larger point.

"I know the truth." Magnet has revealed an official trailer for a film titled Baby Ruby, which premiered at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival last fall. It will be out in US theaters starting in early February. The film marks the directorial debut of actress / playwright Bess Wohl, telling the story of a woman who brings her new baby home. Here's the TIFF intro: Jo is a young lifestyle influencer with the kind of renovated home, handsome husband, and picture-perfect, aspirational nursery that make her followers envy her. Typically in control of herself and everyone in her radius, Jo prepares for the arrival of her baby, Ruby, by planning her own flawless baby shower and vlogging every step along the way. Soon, however, the chaos of postpartum recovery and new motherhood throws Jo's routines and relationships into disarray. The film stars Noémie Merlant and Kit Harington, with Meredith Hagner and Jayne Atkinson.

Kit Harington and Noémie Merlant are haunted by a monster of their own making: their newborn child.
The “Game of Thrones” alum and “TÁR” star portray a young couple whose influencer status is thrown into disarray after becoming parents in horror film “Baby Ruby,” billed as a “Rosemary’s Baby” for Instagram mommies.
Written and directed by playwright Bess Wohl, “Baby Ruby” centers on Jo (Merlant), a successful lifestyle entrepreneur who is happily pregnant, awaiting the arrival of her first child. But soon after Jo welcomes baby Ruby home, something starts to feel off, even she’s assured it’s all perfectly normal. Is something wrong with her? Is something wrong with Ruby? And why are the seemingly perfect neighborhood moms so desperate to befriend her?
As Jo fights to protect herself and her baby, she is plunged into a waking fever dream where everyone is a threat and nothing is what it seems.

A new TikTok video sums up every episode of Criminal Minds. The popular crime drama Criminal Minds centers on the team members that form the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI, referred to as the Bau. Spanning an impressive 15 seasons, the series typically operates on a case-of-the-week format as the team works to profile the UnSub (unidentified subject) committing the crimes in order to solve the case. Due to its popularity, Criminal Minds recently earned a revival on Paramount+, which brings back much of the core cast from the original show.
Because of its format, Criminal Minds frequently fell into the trap of many law enforcement procedurals, leading to a formulaic structure that repeats storylines and predictable character beats throughout the course of its run. Jordan.Prentiss has posted a video pointing out the repetitive nature of Criminal Minds via TikTok. The video highlights common themes and recurring events from the original show,...

At long last, the end is nigh. When "The Walking Dead" first premiered on Halloween in 2010, little did we know what a behemoth it would become, sparking a zombie outbreak that consumed network television, streaming services, and movie theaters. What began as Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) story morphed into a universal saga about how humanity managed to survive in an apocalyptic wasteland.
Eleven seasons later, "The Walking Dead" has cemented itself as one of the greatest TV shows in history. By this point, it's hard to imagine AMC without its flagship show, even though there are numerous spin-offs currently on the air, with even more on the way, including a limited series about Rick and Michonne. Despite the conclusion of the original series, "The Walking Dead" universe has never been more alive.

Pop culture — at least in the Western world — treats pregnancy and early motherhood as a magical time, when back aches and sleepless nights are a mere inconvenience in what is otherwise a fantastic, love-fuelled, once-in-a-lifetime journey. That is bulls***. And with "Baby Ruby," Bess Wohl is setting the record straight.
Premiering at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, "Baby Ruby" is a tense, visceral psychological thriller that sets out to dismantle everything you think you know about being a mom. Written and directed by Tony-nominated American playwright Bess Wohl, the film centers on the independent, perfectionist, mom-to-be Jo (Noémie Merlant), who branded herself as a chic lifestyle influencer through her successful blog, "Love, Joséphine." Using the power of the internet — and, let's face it, her good looks and wealth — Jo has carefully curated an aspirational image for her online followers. She takes it all on herself; taking control of every aspect...

Despite its title, writer/director Bess Wohl’s debut feature “Baby Ruby” isn’t primarily about the titular infant. It instead takes interest in her beleaguered mother Jo (Noémie Merlant of “Portrait of a Lady on Fire”), a lifestyle influencer for an online magazine. Her husband, Spencer, is an “ethical” butcher. The pair, living in a lavish cabin, on paper, are the kind of seemingly perfect couple who put their idyllic baby pictures online to stir envy. They show the best parts of motherhood and sanitize the strain. But the bitter truth that Jo discovers is that you can’t hide the arduous parts.
The very idea of cinema showing the horrors and travails of motherhood isn’t new. It’s a trend gaining speed with films like “Kindred,” “Umma,” and “Lamb.” And yet, what separates Wohl’s film from everything else is how it dissects the performative exteriority of...

“Baby Ruby,” which held its world premiere at TIFF, is not your mother’s movie about being a new mom. Or maybe it is. In the film, Noémie Merlant (“Portait of a Lady on Fire”) plays Jo, an influencer who plans on seamlessly incorporating her new baby into her brand, until the experience isn’t exactly all it’s chalked up to be. As Jo struggles with her postpartum recovery, she grows alienated from the people around her: the other new mothers in her circle, her helpless husband and most disturbingly, Baby Ruby herself, who acts out only when she’s alone with Jo.

Spoiler Alert: The following story contains details from the season finale of CBS and MGM Television’s Clarice.
On Thursday, Clarice came to the end of its first (and likely final) season, presenting resolution in the case of the Anacostia River murders, as well as signs of personal growth on the part of the titular FBI agent, and a couple of major deaths.
By the time finale, “Family Is Freedom” kicks off, ViCap has uncovered most of the dark secrets of Alastar Pharmaceuticals and its emotionally disturbed CEO, Nils Hagen (Peter McRobbie). Putting her career on the line to aid them in their investigation is Clarice’s fellow agent and best friend, Ardelia (Devyn A. Tyler), who is told by her boss to stay out of the matter, but refuses to do so.

Clarice Episode 12
In Clarice episode 12, “Father Time,” Agent Clarice Starling (Rebecca Breeds) finally loses her shit and clocks someone, and the series is better off for it. The young agent who rose to the top of a media circus on her first serial killer case has been scrutinized, chastised, hypnotized, and downsized since returning to the field. She’s had to run amok straight into danger just to get a point across which will solve cases. Tonight, Clarice lashes out at everyone, packs her boxes, and runs until her legs give out. It provides the most satisfying episode the series has given so far.
Starling has even had enough of her chosen, as opposed to assigned, therapist. Dr. Renee Li (Grace Lynn Kung), is the very definition of calming. Just a few words from her mouth usually silence the lambs in Clarice’s head. But...

Clarice Episode 11
Clarice, episode 11, “Achilles Heel,” could almost be called the “I-told-you-so” episode. After half a season of knocking down Agent Clarice Starling (Rebecca Breeds) as a rogue, unreliable, dangerous or mentally unbalanced cop, almost every character who got screen time this season gets to say their version of “we should have listened to Clarice.” This bodes well for the investigation, but also for the psyches of her closest acquaintances.
In the last episode, Clarice decided Catherine Martin (Marnee Carpenter) had to face some consequences for her actions. The surviving victim of the serial killer Buffalo Bill took his mother hostage, not entirely intentionally, but functionally enough to warrant observation. Catherine’s mother, the Attorney General Ruth Martin (Jayne Atkinson), is incensed over the idea her daughter is being victimized by the system, especially since she gave strict orders to the agent she forced to go rogue,...
