A new episode of the Revisited video series has just been released, and with this one we’re looking back at the 1991 science fiction tokusatsu film The Guyver (watch it Here)! You can hear all about it in the video embedded above.

Directed by Steve Wang and special effects legend Screaming Mad George from a screenplay by Jon Purdy that was based on the Japanese manga series Bio Booster Armor Guyver by Yoshiki Takaya, The Guyver has the following synopsis: When a researcher at the Chronos Corporation is mysteriously killed, his daughter ; her boyfriend, Sean; and a rogue CIA agent named Max Reed all suspect foul play. Sean discovers a top-secret suit of Chronos armor called “the Guyver,” which fuses to his body when he tries it on, turning him into a supremely powerful cyborg. Chronos’ evil CEO, Fulton Balcus, is enraged and sends a crew of mutant alien monsters to get the Guyver back.

Actor Peter Spellos had over 150 screen acting and vocal performance credits to his name, but genre fans are most likely to remember him as Orville Ketchum from the slasher movie Sorority House Massacre II and its companion piece Hard to Die, as well as the brief appearance he made as the character Tracy’s father in Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare. Outside of horror, he’s best known for providing the voice of Sky-Byte in 39 episodes of the animated series Transformers: Robots in Disguise. Unfortunately, we have very sad news to share today, as it has been confirmed that Spellos has passed away at age 69 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on March 1, 1954, Spellos passed away yesterday, November 19th, at the Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis. His brother, James Spellos, notified TMZ that his family is planning an online “celebration of life” gathering for his fans.

Actor and voiceover artist Peter Spellos has passed away.

Per TMZ, Spellos died on Sunday morning at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis, Indiana, as confirmed by Jennifer Smith, a friend and acting student. According to Smith, Spellos had been receiving care at the facility as his health deteriorated due to complications from pancreatic cancer, adding, "He was loved and cared for and surrounded by people during his final days." Spellos' brother, James Spellos, clarified that the family is planning an online celebraiton of life for the performer following his cremation. He was 69 years old.

Spellos is well-known to Transformers fans for voicing the role of Sky-Byte on the animated series Transformers: Robots in Disguise, and he had enjoyed meeting with many of them at fan conventions. Earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly brought to light the fact that the writers of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." have an unwritten rule when penning episodes: all super-powers introduced on the show must be explained by science — not magic or supernatural forces. With this in mind, it's no wonder that two more S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists have been added to the series' cast of recurring characters.

Joining David Conrad in the S.H.I.E.L.D. science department will be none other than Ian Hart ("Bates Motel," "Luck") in a role that has yet to be specified. While this casting news makes total sense, given the "S.H.I.E.L.D." writers' unwritten rule, we here at Splash Page can't help but long for the magic and mysticism of the Marvel universe—a mysticism that is still welcome on the big screen in films like "Thor: The Dark World.

Micahel Hoffman is an up and coming director in the horror genre. After catching Spring Break Massacre and Rot: Reunion of Terror he has shown that his films can be very pointed and focused. He is a director that has the potential to have a clear point of view in the genre and his own distinctive voice all while under the age of 30, which hopefully he won't stray away from. As us genre fans know, some directors go there entire career (Steve Miner anyone?) without finding their point of view or voice. Between the films, even though they are stand alone films with different storylines and aren't connected in any way between each other, there is a cohesion of style and themes and feel unqiuely like the work of Michael Hoffman. So kudos to this up and coming talent!
