‘The Darkest Universe’ Review
Stars: Will Sharpe, Tiani Ghosh, Joe Thomas, Sophia Di Martino, Raph Shirley, Chris Langham, Sharon D. Clarke, Ewan Bailey, Helen Cripps, Jamie Demetriou, Simon Bird | Written by Tiani Ghosh, Will Sharpe | Directed by Tom Kingsley, Will Sharpe

Talk about a movie where you just don’t know where to start! With The Darkest Universe, co-directors Tom Kingsley and Will Sharpe have crafted what I can only describe as my favorite, completely surreal, yet right down to earth, drama I have watched in 2016… Wait, no, in years.

As I have said previously, I am on a real Indie “hidden gem” kick right now and I was asked to review this movie suspecting that it would be right up my street. And it is. The Darkest Universe is an absolute gem of a movie for more reasons than I can explain, but I will try.

Co-director and co-writer Will Sharpe plays highly...

Creep Out Your Ears by Listening to ‘Hammer Chillers’
Hammer made a nice little comeback last year with The Woman in Black. While I wasn’t the hugest fan of the film, I dug the atmosphere it brought to audiences. It also felt like British Horror, something I admired even more. Hammer has created six audio dramas that vary from 30 to 45 minutes each and will be released in a digipack later this week. If you order the digipack, you will get the audio files immediately. You can also buy the tracks individually if you want to give one of them a listen. Between this and Tales from Beyond the Pale, it’s nice to see horror audio making a comeback. We have included toggles below which include synopses & links below.

The culmination of the Wainfleet Maritime College sea rescue and safety course is a session in The Box,...

Tatsumi (2011)
This Week In Trailers: Windfall, The Viral Factor, Tatsumi, Doppelgänger Paul, DeafBlind, Sicario: Room 164
Tatsumi (2011)
Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: I celebrate all levels of trailers and hopefully this column will satisfactorily give you a baseline of what beta wave I’m operating on, because what better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? Some of the best authors will tell you that writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a long one, that you have to weigh every sentence. What better medium to see how this theory plays itself out beyond that than with movie trailers? Tatsumi Trailer "Yoshihiro Tatsumi is a mangaka known for his gekiga style of alternate Japanese manga." Wish I knew what that meant. Director Eric Khoo...
