'Top Gun' and 'South Park' Get Overtaken by Adam Woodward's Forgotten Action-Thriller on Streaming
Image
Man With No Pastis a straight-to-streaming thriller that stars Adam Woodward, Jon Voight, and Marton Csokas. It was originally released in January 2025 and didn’t get much attention at the time. But now, completely out of nowhere, it has surged to the top of the Paramount+ charts. It’s currently the #1 movie in 18 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Peru. Even more surprising, it’s beating major titles like Top Gun: Maverick, Gladiator II, and South Park.

This rise is especially surprising given the timing. Director Joseph Kosinski’s new film, F1,just hit theaters and has been getting plenty of critical acclaim. Naturally, this has led to a spike in Top Gun: Maverick rewatch value on Paramount+. But instead of Kosinski’s legacy sequel taking the top spot, Man With No Past has somehow overtaken it. The film is directed by James Bamford, who’s previously directed episodes of Supergirl,...

Tom Cruise Gets Dethroned at Streaming by Movie That No One Knew Existed
Image
The question that is often asked is, “How do I know you?”. That question just dethroned Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick in terms of streaming numbers across the world!

Man with No Past is a recently released film starring Jon Voight, Adam Woodward, Marton Csokas, and more, with James Bamford helming the director’s chair. Despite low ratings on major review sites, the movie is dominating the streaming charts quietly and has dethroned even the mighty Tom Cruise film.

How The Man with No Past Is Quietly Dominating The Streaming Charts

It is a weird thing to say that a B-grade movie has overtaken Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick, but it is because of how dumb and silly Man with No Past is that the movie was able to achieve this feat.

'Top Gun: Maverick' Taken Down by Sleeper Hit Action Movie With No Rotten Tomatoes Score on Streaming
Image
While Tom Cruise comes to terms with the theatrical underperformance of his latest film, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, he's been struck by another blow at home. His 2022 blockbuster, Top Gun: Maverick, was overtaken on the Paramount+ streaming charts — a rare occurrence in itself — by a film that has no Rotten Tomatoes score and no Wikipedia page. The movie in question is Man with no Past, directed by James Bamford and starring Adam Woodward. According to FlixPatrol, the action film claimed the number one spot on the Paramount+ leader board on July 15, pushing Maverick down to the number two spot.

Maverick has hovered inside the top five ever since its streaming debut over a year ago. It's been a terrific run for the film, which grossed nearly $1.5 billion worldwide and was largely credited for having revived the theatrical marketplace. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, whose F1 is running circles around competition in theaters currently,...

A 2025 Action Flick You've Never Heard of Hijacked Tom Cruise's $1.5 Billion Sequel on the Global Streaming Charts
Image
Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverickmay have earned $1.5 billion at the global box office, but a 2025 action drama that was largely overlooked has surpassed the big-budget action film on the streaming charts. Per FlixPatrol, Man with No Past is in the No. 1 spot in Paramount+’s global Top 10 as of July 15, 2025.

The straight-to-digital movie stars Oscar winner Jon Voight, Adam Woodward (The Saint) and Marton Csokas (The Equalizer). Man with No Past was directed by James Bamford and written by Steven Paul, who also collaborated on The Last Gunfight.

Man With No Past is so widely unknown that the film doesn’t have enough reviews to even be rated on Rotten Tomatoes. It has just three critical reviews and fewer than 50 audience ratings, so the fact that it is ahead of Top Gun: Maverick is no small feat.

A summary of the movie reads: “Waking up in an unfamiliar city,...

‘The Hunting Party’s Fate Has Been Decided Following the Season 1 Finale
Image
The Hunting Party concluded its final season at the end of April, and NBC has finally decided on the future of the series. The network has ruled that The Hunting Party, which is streaming on Peacock, has been renewed and will receive a second season. The Hunting Party premiered alongside other shows such as original dramas Suits: LA and Grosse Pointe Garden Society, and it was the strongest performer of the bunch, which was enough to earn it another season. The Hunting Party debuted with a shocking 0% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and it finished its first season with an 18% but an 81% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. After receiving only 10 episodes in Season 1, The Hunting Party Season 2 will move to an 18-22-episode season, and it's expected to be released later this year or early 2026.

Melissa Roxburgh stars in the lead role of Rebecca Henderson in The Hunting Party.

Official Trailer for 'The Last Gunfight' Extremely Bland Action Trash
Image
"You are welcome to use any weapons you find." Paramount Global Content has unveiled an official trailer for a trashy action movie called The Last Gunfight, the latest creation from stuntman-turned-filmmaker James Bamford. This looks like it should be avoided like most of his movies. He also stole the title from the classic 1960 Japanese film The Last Gunfight which starred Toshiro Mifune. However, in this new movie - in a ruthless underground tournament, the world's top assassins battle in a fight to the death. But hidden among them is a rogue crew with its own deadly agenda: infiltrate the competition, survive the bloodbath, and take down the mastermind pulling the strings. "It's for revenge, and a fortune worth killing for." What an original idea... The Last Gunfight features Jon Voight, Adam Woodward, Charlotte Vega, Eloise Lovell Anderson, Daniel Bernhardt, Brock Pierce, Shaina West, and Skyler Shaye. Why are they fighting...

‘High Ground’ Movie Ending Explained & Summary: Is Nathaniel Dead
Image
Directed by James Bamford, High Ground is the story of a sheriff who decides to fight for justice and stand up against a dreaded criminal. The film does not give us much insight into the character’s past, which I believe was its biggest flaw. We never feel invested in the characters because we just don’t know who they are. So, if you want to watch a simple film where a sheriff goes on a mission and ends up saving the day, you might like this one. For others, I am not so sure. So, let’s find out what happened in the High Ground film and how Sheriff Jake Wilcott saved the day.

Spoiler Alert

Why was Marcus Novak after Nathaniel?

Jake Wilcott had recently become the sheriff of a small town in Colorado, and he knew that he had a huge responsibility on his hands. Jake’s father,...

Amell played billionaire playboy turned vigilante Oliver Queen in all eight seasons of the show that launched the Arrowverse for The CW, and while the role skyrocketed him to fame, it wasn’t all positive experiences for Amell. Speaking with Variety, he described his experience as like being “shot out of a cannon” and admitted that he never really enjoyed shooting 10 months out of the year - despite being extremely grateful for Arrow. “The first two or three years of Arrow, I was gripping so tight. 'They Were So Happy Over There': Arrow Stars Agree on Their Favorite Arrowverse Crossover

Arrow stars Emily Bett Rickards and David Ramsey have revealed their favorite Arrowverse crossover. Starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, The CW series spawned a universe of interconnected shows, including The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman, with Supergirl and Black Lightning eventually joining the fold.

Rickards and Ramsey were at Megacon, where the pair responded to Cbr's question regarding which show they most enjoyed crossing over with the most. "I liked going to The Flash because they were so happy over there," Rickards said. Ramsey discussed the difficult logistics and problems with tonality that came with making The Flash and Arrow crossovers happen but still enjoyed them. He especially enjoyed seeing Amell in Grant Gustin's Flash suit. "They were logistical nightmares," he said. "The Flash was on the other side of the wall and couldn't be more different. It was bright and had milkshakes. Stephen in the Flash suit.

Man with No Past (2025) Movie Ending Explained: Ryder vs. Soach – Is Their Battle Across Time Truly Over?
James Bamford
Imagine waking up one day in a completely unfamiliar place, with no clue who you are or how you got there. That’s exactly what the protagonist of James Bamford’s latest film, “Man with No Past,” goes through when he finds himself in an unknown city with zero memory of his past. The film features an impressive cast, including Jon Voight as Paul Sanborn, Adam Woodward as Ryder, Marton Csokas as Soach, Charlotte Vega as Morgan, and many more.

Unfortunately, the film’s weak and underwhelming execution belies its interesting and not-so-frequently discussed topic. In a similar vein, neither the film nor the storyline does anything to bring out the best in the cast. Hollywood legend Jon Voight has a history of success, but his character is lifeless and uninteresting in this film. Similarly, no matter what happens in the film, Adam Woodward’s character never does anything but wear a smoldering expression.

Marvel Finally Respects The X-Men Legend Cut From 3 Different Fox Movies
Image
The MCU redeems a Marvel hero in Deadpool & Wolverine after Fox neglected him in past X-Men movies. The character was part of plans for three separate Fox X-Men movies, but was ultimately cut from each film. The Marvel hero has had impressive showcases in two 2024 projects, hopefully setting them up to appear in the McU's X-Men lineup.

Marvel finally redeems an iconic X-Men member that Fox cut from three of its movies in Deadpool & Wolverine. The X-Men have maintained a constant presence in the superhero movie landscape, but the studios often shuffle which members get the most focus. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine was the star for a long time, and that continues to be the case as Deadpool & Wolverine breaks records at the box office. Other characters, like Professor X and Magneto, have received the spotlight, along with Cyclops, Beast, Nightcrawler, Mystique, and Jean Grey.

‘Alaskan Bush People’: Did Love Triangle Shatter Family?

‘Hard Home’ Review
Image
Stars: Simone Kessell, Andrew Howard, Rosie Day, Rachel Adedeji, Joseph Millson, Daphne Cheung | Written by Mark Shea Price | Directed by James Bamford

Somebody seems to have a lot of faith in director James Bamford. After years of working as a stuntman and directing episodes of mostly DC Comics-related TV shows, Hard Home is his fourth film to see release this year. The fact that the previous three, Air Force One Down, Jade, and Shadow Land left a lot to be desired is, of course, another matter.

Here he’s working from a script by Mark Shea Price, whose previous credits consist of shorts such as The Mayans Were Right and Raised by Fish. It opens with Mary jogging through the woods and attracting the attention of a Polaroid-wielding psycho when she stops to check out an old cemetery.

He shrugs off being maced, but just as he’s about to kill her,...

‘Jade’ Review
Image
Stars: Shaina West, Katherine McNamara, Mickey Rourke, Mark Dacascos | Written by James Bamford, Lynn Colliar, Glenn Ennis | Directed by James Bamford

Jade begins with an animated sequence telling us that Jade and her brother Brandon came to live in Albuquerque, New Mexico after their parents were murdered in London. Why or by whom they were killed isn’t explained. Nor is exactly how they ended up in a street gang, or how that led to Jade accidentally killing her brother, made clear. But whatever the reason, she’s sworn never to use a gun again.

Once the film turn to live action, we see Jade dropping in to see Layla who is not happy to see her. That might be because the baby she’s carrying will never know its father, thanks to Jade’s errant bullet.

As if that isn’t enough for her to deal with, she soon...

British martial artist and stunt performer Shaina West (she was one of the assassins in Black Widow and also appeared in The Woman King) graduates to star with the title role of this pulpy, retro action flick. Her Jade is an English ex-pat who has been stranded in some nondescript US town for a little while, still mourning the death of her brother, who was killed in an overly complicated backstory, laid out in a big chunk of animated screen time before the titles come up.

Once that exposition dump is finished, director James Bamford (a stunt coordinator by trade) and the team get stuck in to the kicking, hand-chopping, stabbing and shooting stuff as Jade is persuaded to hide a mysterious hard drive for a...

Gambit: Channing Tatum's X-Men Movie That Never Happened
Image
Despite multiple attempts and delays, Channing Tatum's Gambit movie was ultimately canceled due to Disney's X-Men reboot. Tatum's Gambit struggled to find directors, facing setbacks and changes in plot and casting throughout the development process. While the solo Gambit film was scrapped, fans may still see Tatum as the Ragin' Cajun in Deadpool & Wolverine, sparking hopeful rumors.

After years of the X-Men being relegated to second fiddle to The Avengers, the team is back in a big way. X-Men '97 has become one of the best-reviewed shows of the year, while audiences are eagerly awaiting the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. The X-Men are filled with great characters, and one fan favorite is Gambit, the Ragin Cajun, or the Prince of Thieves. Remy Labeau was a mutant with the power to charge kinetic energy to create explosive projectiles; he was introduced in the comics in 1990. The character, like the playing cards he charges,...

Curb Your Enthusiasm's Funkhouser Family Tree Explained
Image
Marty Funkhouser, played by Bob Einstein, was the deadpan foil to Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiam. Freddy Funkhouser, played by Vince Vaughn, and Joey Funkhouser, played by Chaz Bono, are key relatives introduced in later seasons. The Funkhouser family expanded with characters like Bam Bam, Dr. Saul, and Kenny, all adding to the comedic dynamics of the show.

From Vince Vaughn’s Freddy Funkhouser to Chaz Bono’s Joey Funkhouser to “The Big Funk” himself, Bob Einstein’s Marty Funkhouser, Larry David’s HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm has introduced more Funkhousers than Davids. Marty Funkhouser was initially introduced as a deadpan “straight man” foil for Larry, thoroughly unimpressed with his wacky antics, and Einstein played that part to perfection. In the years that followed, the Funkhouser family was expanded to include all kinds of supporting characters, from other deadpan foils to characters with an even bigger personality than Larry’s.

Tales From The Box Office: 20 Years Ago, X2: X-Men United Raised The Bar For Superhero Movies
Image
(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)

It is remarkably difficult to picture now, but there was a time when superhero movies were not the dominant force in Hollywood. They were, at best, a fluke when they worked. Marvel only gained its first mainstream hit with "Blade" in 1998 and, frankly, its $131 million global haul is very modest by modern standards. That movie, however, opened the door for 2000's "X-Men," which is arguably the watershed moment in superhero movie history, with "Spider-Man" blowing the door wide open in 2002.

"X-Men" taking in nearly $300 million worldwide against a $75 million budget gave 20th Century Fox confidence to move forward with a sequel almost right away, and that sequel would arrive in 2003 in the form of "X2," aka "X2: X-Men United." In every conceivable way,...

‘Luther’ Creator Changed a Victim’s Gender in ‘Fallen Sun’ at Netflix’s Request
Image
“Luther” sequel film “The Fallen Sun” opens like many of the episodes from the Idris Elba detective drama: with someone getting murdered. In the film’s case, the victim is Callum Aldrich (James Bamford), who is kidnapped and killed by wealthy serial killer David Robey (Andy Serkis). But in the film’s first draft, Callum was a woman before creator Neil Cross made a rewrite — at the request of Netflix.

Cross revealed the change in a recent interview with The Independent. The writer, who created the original series and penned every episode in addition to “Fallen Sun’s” screenplay, said that the first victim was female in the original script in part because he believes violence against women is more “frightening” for viewers.

“For reasons I fear to interrogate too deeply, the female victims resonate and scare more deeply,” Cross told The Independent. “So, there was a defiant part of...

The Japanese House Revisits “Boyhood” on New Single: Stream
Image
Amber Bain is back with “Boyhood,” a new song from her project The Japanese House. Listen to the track below.

“Boyhood” pairs bubbling synths with driving acoustic guitar as The Japanese House looks back at her adolescence, made all the more confusing by her queer identity. Fortunately, with the opening line, “I could’ve been somebody else but I’ve been out looking for me,” she sings the track with the confidence of someone who’s come to accept themselves.

Watch the music video for The Japanese House’s “Boyhood” below.

“When my best friend Katie and I were young and in love, we dreamed of riding off into the distance on her horse Bam Bam, away from all the problems that came from being gay and in love back then,” Bain explained of the track.

“This song talks about how sometimes, however hard you try, you can’t help...

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods: Adult Shazamily On The Lair And Their Kid Counterparts [Exclusive Interview]
Image
The Shazamily is back and ready to fight evil. It's been several years since the last film, and we're just weeks away from the premiere of "Shazam! Fury of the Gods." The kids are growing up, but they're not adults quite yet -- well, not in their house, anyway. One word turns them into their adult counterparts, and they're off to keep crime down in Philadelphia. It's not going well, though, with reports from papers and TV news anchors being really unappreciative of their powers. Not fair! Especially after they save a whole lot of people (and kittens).

Now the Shazamily is facing a new threat in the form of goddesses, aka the Daughters of Atlas, who are looking for a dangerous artifact.

I recently spoke to adult cast members Ross Butler, Grace Caroline Currey (who plays both versions of Mary), Adam Brody, Meagan Good, and D.J. Cotrona about working with their kid counterparts,...

This Might Be The Reason The Alaskan Bush People Are Rushing Into Marriage
Image
Over the years that Alaskan Bush People has been on the air, fans have watched the Brown kids grow up, get married, and start their own families. While not everyone has tied the knot or brought a significant other into the public view, fans have been surprised by how quickly the family's few romances have progressed.

Though earlier seasons had a few of the brothers dating around—a difficult thing to do in the Bush—three would later get married, a fourth apparently has a long-term girlfriend, and the youngest two Browns have talked about settling down. Fans have a theory about why the Browns settle so quickly, and it's not just because partners are hard to come by out in the Bush.
