The Fantastic Four Received A Perfect Musical Parody On This Acclaimed Sitcom
Image
For roughly three decades, Marvel's first family, the Fantastic Four, has not had the best track record when it came to their big-screen adaptations. The unreleased 1994 film ended up being a disaster by design, regardless of the hard work of the film's cast and crew. Director Tim Story was at the helm of two entries that were released in 2005 and 2007, which had their share of highs and lows. 20th Century Studios opted to reboot the series again, with Josh Trank at the helm of a darker and grittier reimagining of the superhero team, but the 2015 adaptation became one of the most notorious flops in the modern comic book movie era.

Thankfully, Marvel Studios, along with director Matt Shakman, finally brought audiences a solid film featuring Marvel's first family with "The Fantastic Four: First Steps." You can read /Film's review for the film here. Not too dissimilar to how James Gunn...

‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Will Honor the Crappy Movie ‘Arrested Development’ Ridiculed
Image
Paving the way for Austin Powers to one day join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the franchise is rewinding the clock to the 1960s for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. And if prestige cable TV shows are anything to go by, presumably Mr. Fantastic will need to pause battling Galactus in order to down a few glasses of Canadian Club, take an afternoon nap and begin several existential anxiety-inspired extramarital affairs.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that the Fantastic Four have been brought to the big screen. There was the godawful 2015 reboot starring Miles Teller and, before that, two movies in the early 2000s, which confusingly starred Captain America.

But the very first Fantastic Four movie was made way back in 1994 — although it was never actually released.

Produced by B-movie legend Roger Corman, ‘94’s The Fantastic Four was thrown together with a budget of just $1 million, purely so...

'This One Was Disappointing': Lisa Kudrow Recalls Starring in Panned 25-Year-Old Comedy
Image
Friendsstar Lisa Kudrow opens up about her "disappointing" cinematic experience with John Travolta.

Speaking to fellow Hollywood icon Posey Parker for Variety, Kudrow discussed her time working with rom-com legend Nora Ephron throughout the nineties and early-2000s. "I did Hanging Up, which she wrote with [her sister] Delia. Diane Keaton directed it. We had great food every day because Nora was around. And then I did another movie that Nora directed, and John Travolta was in it," Kudrow said referencing the film Lucky Numbers. "'Was in it?' How's that? It was a John Travolta movie, and I was in it.... This one was disappointing."

Directed by Ephron from a screenplay by Adam Resnick, Lucky Numbers starred Travolta as Russ Richards, a local weatherman in Pennsylvania who is treated as an outright celebrity by his fans. Despite all appearances, Russ is on the verge of bankruptcy, which paves the way for...

‘Big Mouth’ Creators Break Down Finale’s ‘Scary’ Void Twist, Their Proudest Moments After 8 Seasons
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “Big Mouth” Season 8.

When Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett first joined forces to create “Big Mouth,” they knew the Netflix show about puberty was going to get emotional. But none of them expected the series would become educational.

“We really learned along with the show,” Flackett told TheWrap in an interview that included all four creators. Flackett always expected “Big Mouth” would discuss periods, but it wasn’t until the team was working on the Season 1 episode “Girls Are Horny Too” that the potential for the animated comedy really clicked. To prepare for that episode, the writers all read Peggy Orenstein’s book “Girls & Sex.”

“[That episode] put something in focus for me because it was stuff I hadn’t talked about with my own daughter. It was really in talking to her about, ‘Do she and her friends masturbate?’ I realized,...

‘Big Mouth’ Was Courageously Filthy ‘Til the End, but About So Much More Than Sex: TV Review
Image
Spoiler Alert: The following piece contains spoilers for the series finale of “Big Mouth,” now streaming on Netflix.

It may surprise you to learn that “Big Mouth,” the Netflix animated series chronicling a group of teenagers’ physical and emotional maturation, concludes its eight-season run without one of its protagonists having sex. Then again, one of many lessons “Big Mouth” imparted to its viewership — some well past the travails of puberty, some just on their cusp — is that sex is an expansive idea. With Hormone Monsters, the show’s signature metaphor and comic creation, as their Virgils, the characters of “Big Mouth” have explored everything from oral sex to erotica to enough masturbation to make the entire premise a smirking play on “coming of age” even without more conventional congress. But in the end, all the gleeful obscenity took a backseat to the story’s true subject: the terrifying process of growing up.

‘Big Mouth’ Packs Up Its Dildos and Diagrams Just When We Need Them Most
Image
Efforts by Republicans at all levels of government to make the populace more ignorant are, unfortunately, going great. As of 2023, 28 percent of American adults ranked at the lowest levels of literacy. Compared to the last decade, American students’ math scores have dropped steeply in an international test. And as if chipping away at the teaching of basic skills wasn’t enough, officials in Republican-led states have been on the march against sex education for years. Soon, you might not even be able to do your own independent study on the subject: the latest page from the Project 2025 playbook is a Republican bill to ban all pornography in the U.S. In our current era of prudishness, Netflix’s Big Mouth feels like a precious resource we should protect at all costs.

The penultimate season ended on such a tease — the first day of high school is where the show was leaving us?...

Adult Swim Might Have Canceled Its Hilarious Tim Robinson Sitcom
Image
With Tim Robinson's hilarious sketch series "I Think You Should Leave" having cemented the former "Saturday Night Live" and "Detroiters" star's status as a full comedy legend and "Friendship" pairing him with Paul Rudd to further establish his talent, the comedian seems nothing short of undeniable. Still, despite friends of funny business everywhere chuckling to themselves whenever they remember "Brian's Hat," Robinson's professional life might not be entirely composed of well-deserved victories after all.

One of Robinson's less-known but still perfectly hilarious works is the Adult Swim cartoon "Teenage Euthanasia," which premiered in 2021 and got its sophomore season in 2023. However, fans of the show who have been waiting for news of season 3 will be disappointed to hear that the show seems to have died with barely a whimper.

While nothing has been etched in official stone, evidence indicates that "Teenage Euthanasia" has been canceled. Adult Swim hasn't actually...

'Big Mouth' Reaches "The End of a Very Gross Era" in New Season 8 Trailer
Image
It's almost time to bid farewell, but not goodbye to the Bridgeton teens. Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the eighth and final season of Nick Kroll's animated comedy Big Mouth, teasing what's to come for Nick and his friends as they navigate a whole new set of challenges as high-schoolers. After graduating from middle school back in 2023, milestones are about to hit the kids hard and fast as they not only deal with their changing bodies, but also navigate sexual inexperience, drugs, driving, porn, cancel culture, and fear of the future in a complicated environment. In the end, however, what they'll need most to survive this overwhelming time is friendship and support from each other.

The hormone monster Maury opens the trailer by describing the end of Big Mouth as "the end of a very gross era." Though their final run together will be a bit messy...

‘Big Mouth’: Nick Goes Through Puberty and the Kids Start High School in Final Season Trailer
Image
To quote Nick Kroll’s Maury, “It’s the end of a very gross era.” “Big Mouth” dropped the trailer for its eighth and final season on Wednesday, and it’s just as upsetting and surprisingly sweet as this raunchy animated comedy has always been. The longest-running scripted Netflix original will premiere on May 23.

“Do you schmucks even know why you go through puberty?” Natasha Lyonne asks as a sassy new teacher. The video then cuts to a series of embarrassing scenes, from Missy (Ayo Edebiri) accidentally farting on another student’s lunch to Jessi (Jessi Klein) panicking about her Pms. But it’s not all humiliating bodily functions. The trailer also shows Lola (Kroll) introducing Matthew (Andrew Rannells) to something called the gay pornscape, a colorful land filled with men happily exploring their various kinks. And this season has a special surprise in store for one of its main...

Adult Swim Seems to Quietly Confirm Animated Show's Cancelation After 2 Seasons
Image
Adult Swim may have just quietly confirmed that its animated sitcom Teenage Euthanasia has been canceled. The series ran from 2021 to 2023.

Per ComicBook, the official Instagram page for Teenage Euthanasia has been updated, heavily hinting that the show will not continue on for a third season. "Like Trophy's heart, this show is dead," the bio reads, referring to one of the show's characters, Trophy Fantasy. The last post on the Teenage Euthanasia Instagram was in October 2023, and the recent change seems to indicate that no new episodes of the underrated sitcom will be on the way.

Teenage Euthanasia starred Maria Bamford as Trophy Fantasy, Jo Firestone as Euthanasia "Annie" Fantasy, Tim Robinson as Uncle Pete and Bebe Neuwirth as Baba. Set in the near future, the comedy series centers around the owners of the Tender Endings funeral home when Trophy's corpse is delivered to Euthanasia and is later revived as a sentient zombie.

Chris Parnell & Bobby Moynihan Comedy Micro Budget Releases New Still Before New York Premiere
Image
Aptly titled and metatheatrical in nature,Micro Budget is an indie movie that nevertheless features some of the most standout names in comedy. ScreenRant is proud to present a first look at a still that gathers most of them in one shot prior to the film's New York premiere on May 3. Deliciously sharp and full of outside-the-box thinking, Micro Budget hails from the minds of director Morgan Evans (MTV’s Bugging Out) and was co-written by him and Patrick Noth (Late Night with Seth Meyers).

The story cleverly pokes fun at the DIY nature of the indie film industry while also paying homage to the art form that so many love, creating with passion even amidst insurmountable obstacles. Noth plays Terry, a delusionally confident filmmaker who hopes to make a project on a shoestring budget and then sell it for millions. He is joined by Brandon Micheal Hall, Nichole Sakura,...

Pam Brady is a comedy writer’s comedy writer, her Hollywood career starting in the mid-1990s. And if all that wasn’t enough, she’s got stories about Robert Evans, the notorious producer and studio head responsible for some of the great American movies of the 1970s, like The Godfather. "Whether one’s puberty is just beginning, like for Nick (voiced by Nick Kroll) who gets his first growth spurt, or near its conclusion, like for a maturing (and prematurely balding) Andrew (John Mulaney)."

Final Big Mouth Season to Debut on Netflix May 23
Image
Netflix has announced that the eighth and final season of Big Mouth will premiere globally on the streaming service on May 23, 2025.

In the 10-episode season, our beloved Bridgeton teens tackle new challenges as high schoolers, such as driving, drugs, sexual inexperience, enthusiastic consent, porn, and the teenage mind, cancel culture, their changing bodies, and (in the end) fear of the looming future.

Through it all, friendship is the cornerstone for surviving this time of life – whether one’s puberty is just beginning, like for Nick, who gets his first growth spurt, or near its conclusion, like for a maturing (and prematurely balding) Andrew.

At the height of the season, when many of our characters are in crisis, Compassion (personified as a new creature voiced by Holly Hunter) emerges as a crucial way forward. Ultimately, though, this season is about the importance of sticking by and supporting your friends, especially when life gets overwhelming and messy.

Tlok: Ranking Korra’s Best Relationships
Image
The Legend of Korra, a spin-off to Avatar: The Last Airbender, started in the Southern Water Tribe, where the current Avatar, Korra (voiced by Janet Varney), lived in relative seclusion. Korra felt cooped up in her native home and had only a handful of friends, but things shifted when she visited the metropolis of Republic City. It didn't take long for Korra to build a network of friends, teammates, and other connections who helped define her Avatar career.

For every enemy she made, such as Amon or Tarrlok, Korra made a friend who vowed to support her in her fight to maintain balance in the world, some becoming members of Team Avatar. By the story's end, Korra had many varied relationships. These are the most heartfelt, healthiest, and important ones. Even when personalities and philosophies clashed, loyalty remained, which created scenarios both entertaining and moving, now living on in the comics.

Your Favorite Comedian, According to Your Astrological Sign
Image
Your star sign can tell you which comedian will make you laugh the hardest, according to the online astrologers over at Times of India.

Okay, we’ll bite — which stand-up comic corresponds to your particular astrological sign? Here are the dubious, er, divinely inspired results…

Aries

Aries people, with their quick wits and competitive nature, “are drawn to comedians who bring the heat,” says Toi. That means Dave Chappelle is Aries’ favorite comic, thanks to his provocative takes and unapologetic subject material.

Taurus

Give a Taurus a comic with a laid-back, relaxed vibe that still has some substance — in other words, how about John Mulaney? “Mulaney’s balance of quirky and familiar will resonate deeply with the steady Taurus.”

Gemini

Geminis are quick thinkers who can navigate difficult topics, explains Toi, making Ali Wong a likely fit. Wong’s “ability to jump between personal and societal observations matches Gemini’s multifaceted personality.

#Xodus: Bluesky Hits 20M Users as People Continue to Flee X
Image
A trickle is becoming a flood for Bluesky, the social media company that has seen spectacular growth since the presidential election. On Tuesday, the microblogging platform hit 20 million users, after averaging 1 million new users per day over the past five days.

According to a Nov. 13 post by Bluesky CEO Jay Graber, the site had 6 million users in late August, nearly 11 million in late October and hit 15 million users on Nov. 15. It added another 5 million users in just five days, with the explosive growth seen since Nov. 5, the day of the election, accelerating.

Bluesky has been one of the main beneficiaries of millions of users leaving Elon Musk’s X, as the site formerly known as Twitter descends into a mess of bots, extreme content, crypto scams, ads, pornography, racism, transphobia and misinformation.

Hollywood has been quick to adopt Bluesky, particularly with the entertainment industry’s aversion to the political views of Musk,...

Bernie Mac’s Daughter Didn’t Always Appreciate Being Part of His Act
Image
A lot of comedians tell stories about family members in their act. Joan Rivers always joked about her husband, Edgar. John Mulaney called out his cold-blooded father for not buying French fries for his children at McDonald’s. And Bernie Mac’s jokes about being a dad and taking care of his sister’s kids turned into the basis of his popular sitcom. But family members don’t always appreciate having their lives turned into punchlines.

Mac’s daughter, Je'Niece McCullough, talked to Tiffany Haddish about being stand-up fodder in the Vice docuseries Black Comedy in America. In a clip shared by People, McCullough explained that her feelings about being part of the comedy act changed as she was growing up. “When I was younger, I enjoyed it,” said McCullough, now 46. “It was like, ‘Oh, look, my daddy’s onstage, yay! Go daddy!’”

But what about the bit about her fight with a boyfriend?...

The 30 Strongest Adventure Time Characters, Ranked
Image
The theme song might claim "the fun will never end," but the Adventure Time TV series eventually did conclude. There's a reason it's one of the most popular cartoons to date. Throughout the series' run, however, protagonists Finn and Jake encountered a litany of idiosyncratic characters, many of whom were spectacularly strong. While Finn is the reincarnation of a powerful Catalyst Comet, he's merely human in his current life.

As such, Finn's victories against powerful foes come from a mix of teamwork, luck, and weapons (cursed or otherwise). While Finn may be the star, he's not actually one of the strongest Adventure Time characters. On the contrary, there are several more powerful than him. Finn shouldn't be counted out, but in a cast as large as Adventure Time's, there are quite a number of characters to sift through.

Updated on September 19, 2024, by Christopher Raley: Adventure Time with Finn and...

The new Harley Quinn spin-off series, Kite Man: Hell Yeah! is now streaming new episodes of its first on Max, and if the response from the fans is anything to go by, it seems like they can't get enough of what the DC Universe has been doing in the realm of adult animation. The series continues to expand its predecessor's unique take on classic villains like Bane and Darkseid. However, it's when it shines the spotlight on the more obscure, lesser-known villains of DC that its humor is arguably at its strongest. While it has managed to get some undeniably hilarious comedy from the way it looks at these characters through a more self-satirical lens,...
