The cast will include Firdous Bamji 'Nikrad Das', Bill Buell 'Englishman', Nick Choksi'Dilip', Romola Garai 'Flora Crewe', Neal Huff 'Eldon Pike', Caroline Lagerfelt'Englishwoman', Omar Maskati 'Nazrul',Tim McGeever 'Resident', Brenda Meaney'Nell', Philip Mills 'Eric', Ajay Naidu'Coomaraswami' Bhavesh Patel 'Anish Das', Lee Aaron Rosen 'David Durance' and Rajeev Varma 'RajahPolitician'.The production will begin performances on September 4 and open Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold amp Miriam Steinberg Centre for Theatre 111 West 46th Street. The Chicago South Asian Film Festival has made its selections for its first annual festival, which runs October 1-3. The three-day event will showcase 16 films, including nine Chicago premieres, two world premieres, and one U.S. premiere.
"I feel very confident about our selections, as they represent a balanced view of what filmmakers want to showcase about South Asian culture, and they cover a variety of genres through features, shorts and documentaries. We chose these films based on the stories that are being told, the performances, and overall production value. For our first year, I think we have a great lineup," said Mileen Patel, the festival's programming director. "As we begin the first of many festivals to come, we invite all of Chicago to join us in celebrating our culture, and in celebrating that which brings us all closer—our community."
