Cesar was born in Lisbon, Portugal in1970, and came to the United States in 1975 where his parents settled in Providence, RI. He speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish and French, in that order of fluency. Cesar graduated with a BA in International Relations from The American University, Washington, DC in 1992 and then moved to NYC where he "ran away with the circus," working as a non-union grip and key grip with many credits in television, film and hundreds of commercials. He married Alissa Anne May in 1998 and moved to Saugerties, New York in 2001. In 2006, Hugo Augustus was born, the same year that he joined IATSE, Local 52. A few years later, twin daughters Marlo and Sabine were born in 2009. Later still, after a few months off between shows, Dashiel surprised everyone with his arrival in 2016.
