Carson Lund, Director Of Cannes & New York Film Festival Baseball Movie ‘Eephus’, Signs With Empirical Evidence
Image
Exclusive: Empirical Evidence’s management division has signed American filmmaker Carson Lund, who directed Eephus, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the Directors’ Fortnight section.

Eephus was acquired by Music Box Films out of Cannes for U.S. distribution and will release the film theatrically in March 2025. The film is set to have its North American premiere at the New York Film Festival this week.

The comedy-drama, which uses amateur baseball to reflect on the passage of time, charts how a men’s veteran baseball game stretches to extra innings on a beloved field’s final day before demolition.

Lund is a founding member of the LA-based filmmaker collective Omnes Films. Eephus marks the second project from Omnes Films to screen in the Directors’ Fortnight section along with Tyler Taormina’s Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point, which Lund shot.

Next up, Lund is producing Omnes Films’ Raccoon...

New Bad Trip Trailer Has Eric Andre Pulling His Biggest Pranks Ever This March on Netflix
Image
Netflix has released the official trailer for Bad Trip, the new hidden camera comedy movie starring Eric Andre. With Jackass co-creator Jeff Tremaine producing, the Borat-style movie follows two friends taking a road trip with the cast pulling off hidden camera pranks on the unsuspecting public. It looks to be just as insane as it sounds, and you can catch a peek at what it will be like by watching the trailer below.

The trailer wastes no time in teasing the insanity to be found in Bad Trip. Andre's clothes are completely sucked off by a shop-vac while he's detailing a customer's car, leaving him completely naked in front of several onlookers. Some of the other shenanigans teased in the trailer include breaking into a police car, a man getting stuck in a porta-potty, crashing through a display at a nightclub, and even Andre wrestling a gorilla at the zoo.

Interview: Director Kitao Sakurai Talks 'The Eric Andre Show,' Ideal Guest Stars
The Eric Andre Show can be described as a talk show with a side of madness. Eric Andre, co-star of Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, tosses out the conventional talk show format and conducts interviews with 'fake' celebrities as well as actual celebrities in this late night comedy on Adult Swim. I caught up with one of the show's directors, Kitao Sakurai, to talk about the show's humor, special guest stars and his co-director, Andrew Barchilon.

Ology: I’m sure you get asked this a lot, but how did the whole concept for the show come about?

Kitao Sakurai: Eric came to us with this idea a couple of years ago to do this sort of like almost art alternate universe talk show, and Andrew and I had already been working together for quite a while, and we’re developing this sort of – I don’t know...

First Person | "The Eric Andre Show" Creators Andrew Barchilon and Kitao Sakurai on Embracing Ineptitude in Their Talk Show Parody
Andrew Barchilon and Kitao Sakurai, the cofounders of the New York-based production company Naked Faces. got their start in the world of film. Sakurai shot and Barchilon produced Ry Russo-Young's "You Wont Miss Me," after which the pair went on to make 2010 festival favorite "Aardvark," a slow-burning noir about a blind jiu-jitsu student who gets pulled into the shady doings of his friend and instructor (Barchilon served as producer while Sakurai wrote and directed the film). Their latest project finds them not just venturing into television but breaking it down as well (sometimes literally). "The Eric Andre Show," currently airing on Adult Swim on Sundays at 12:30am, is technically a talk show with interviews and planned bits. But host Eric Andre and his sidekick Hannibal Buress oversee what's more a scene of surreal, apocalyptic strangeness taking place on some alternate reality public access channel in which Savion...

The Eric Andre Show Begins Production in Los Angeles
Eric André
Production is now underway in Los Angeles, California for The Eric Andre Show, a new late-night talk show from Adult Swim being directed by Andrew Barchilon & Kitao Sakuri.

Just another talk show? Think again. The Eric Andre Show may be the most manic and unorthodox late night talk show ever made. The show's traditional talk show format quickly devolves into chaos as its inept and bipolar host Eric Andr&#233 (Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23) along with his apathetic co-host Hannibal Buress (30 Rock, Saturday Night Live) subvert all late-night conventions.

Taking place on a dingy public-access TV channel within an alternate reality, The Eric Andre Show creates its own distorted pop culture universe by conducting interviews with an unpredictable mix of actual celebrities, "fake" celebrities and extreme real-life weirdos. These interviews are broken up with deranged man-on-the-street segments, surreal flashes of inexplicable studio chaos, talk show desk-pieces and the general...
