Bravo Reportedly Investigated Vpr's James Kennedy, And Fans Are Disgusted
Image
Former Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy was arrested on December 10, and new reports suggest that Bravo looked into his actions as part of an investigation last year — suggesting they knew something was amiss.

Editor’s note: This article contains mentions of domestic violence, or may be otherwise triggering to survivors. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please visit thehotline.org to connect with confidential help. Assistance is available 24/7/365.

News of James' misdemeanor domestic violence arrest was made public on December 12, and Vpr fans felt both vindicated and frustrated.

Specifically, viewers broadly opined that it was a "matter of time" before James' on-screen behavior would culminate in off-screen harm.

On the day the news broke, Vpr fans immediately pointed to what they said was a clear pattern of his behavior evident on the reality TV show:

"Shocker. James has always been abusive towards his girlfriends. People didn’t...

Tim Allen Was a Total Jerk to an A-List Actress Because He Didn’t Find Her ‘Attractive’
Image
Tim Allen hasn’t been making a ton of movies or TV shows lately, but he has been making a lot of headlines for being a giant asshole. There were the reports that Allen previously threw his Home Improvement co-star Patricia Richardson under the bus during contract negotiations with ABC, allegations that he exposed himself to “Tool Girl” Pamela Anderson in 1991 and claims that he was “so fucking rude” while working with Casey Wilson, which seems especially egregious because he was literally dressed like Santa Claus at the time.

So it’s not entirely shocking that a new anecdote about Allen being a dick to his collaborators just dropped.

As reported by Slash Film, director Barry Sonnenfeld’s newest book, Best Possible Place, Worst Possible Time: True Stories from a Career in Hollywood, describes the process of making the 2002 film Big Trouble. The largely forgotten crime comedy starred Allen, as...

Hasan Minhaj Comments on 'It Ends with Us' Rumored Cast Drama
Image
Hasan Minhaj was part of the box office hit It Ends with Us, and he was asked about all the rumored on-set drama that ensued between director/star Justin Baldoni and the cast – including star Blake Lively.

If you don’t know, the film was released over the summer but the press tour was shrouded with rumors that began after the cast did not pose with Justin at the film’s premiere. It was then discovered that numerous cast members were not following Justin on Instagram. Hasan and Justin both follow one another.

Keep reading to find out more…

When asked by Esquire about the controversy behind-the-scenes, Hasan shared, “I can’t speak to other people’s experience, but everybody was very professional and cool to me. It was lovely and everybody was lovely, and it is just as disillusioning for me, because I’m like, what happened? Wait, what’s going on?...

Bad Monkey Review: Vince Vaughn Hangs Out and Solves Crimes, What More Could You Want?
Image
If you can worm through the detritus of overt influence, homage, and repetition of battered tropes, Bad Monkey on Apple TV+ might be worth your time. Inherent to the process of adaptation -- from book to TV -- is that words become flesh, and in the magic of incarnation, certain things come to light that might have lived and looked very differently within the mind. On paper -- the book by Carl Hiaasen -- Bad Monkey is not only attuned to the oddball frequencies of characters who comprise Florida's most interesting, mildly threatening aspects but is rendered in language of the distinctly Orange State lineage. It is rhythmically alluring, with each page devoted to at least two gags, a minor plot nudge, and someone saying something so ridiculously matter-of-fact about an incredible occurrence that you'll be more charmed to the end in a single sitting. The show has a little...

‘Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir’ Review: James Redford’s Final Film Captures the Icon’s Essence for PBS
Image
Remember when people read novels? That might seem like an inane statement to those seeking out this review or the story of Amy Tan, but it’s hard to remember the last time a novel dominated the conversation outside the now seemingly narrowed world of people who regularly read fiction. The documentary “Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir” waxes nostalgic for that time, immersing us in the author’s meteoric success with “The Joy Luck Club” in 1989 as a blockbuster work of fiction, while also showing how that level of success and her self-informed pressure to deliver a massive followup, plagued her on a personal level. As the final film from James Redford (son of Robert Redford), this PBS “American Masters” entry is a riveting portrait of the artist, exceptionally crafted and entertaining enough even for those unfamiliar with Tan’s groundbreaking contributions to Asian American literature.

For one, Amy Tan is just cool.

Pajiba After Dark 4/28/10
I'm exhausted, pretty sure I'm getting sick, and have a headache more often than not. I'd say this was related to the end of the semester, but I think it's just that May is approaching which basically marks the beginning of summer here in North Cuba and the change of seasons always does screwy things to me. I'm lucky enough to be fleeing town in Mid-May so I don't have to stick around part of for what one prominent South Floridian writer (Dave Barry) referred to as "Giant Armpit Season" which falls roughly between June and September. You can spot the tourists pretty easily those months because they're the ones outside. Also, they always look surprised when the afternoon monsoons roll up. Don't get me wrong, I love the whole jungle meeting the ocean sort of environment down here, but when it's so humid I have to grow gills to...
