In 2016, a sci-fi drama about time travel premiered on NBC. Timeless, starring Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, and Malcolm Barrett, was canceled after one season. This was back before shows being saved from cancellation became more and more common. But it was. Three days after its cancellation, NBC renewed it. Then, after Season 2, it was canceled again, in 2018. Miraculously, it was then saved again and given a wrap-up movie later that year Considering how popular revivals have become in the years since, we can’t help but think now is the perfect time to delve into that world again. And when TV Insider spoke with Abigail Spencer in March for her dark two-episode arc on 9-1-1, it became clear we’re not the only ones. “I call [Timeless creators] Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke occasionally. I’m like, ‘Hey, let’s do a movie,'” she told us. “My perfect world,...

"Stargate Sg-1" ended its seventh season with "Lost City," a climactic episode that was supposed to lead up to a "Stargate" theatrical movie. Although this plan was eventually scrapped, "Lost City" laid the foundation for "Stargate Atlantis," a series spin-off that fleshes out the connection between the technologically advanced Ancients and the lost underwater city of Atlantis. Both "Sg-1" and "Atlantis" have shaped the "Stargate" franchise into what it is today, effectively molding it into a thrilling world where humanity can learn from its collective mistakes while persevering against deadly intergalactic threats. This vast, boundless premise paved the path for short-lived yet promising entries like "Stargate Universe," which etches a darker, bleaker picture of a universe that is more hostile than it appears.
Unfortunately, a third "Stargate" spin-off idea revolving around Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) and Malcolm Barrett (Peter Flemming) did not make it to the screen. Although Barrett has...

Photos taken from the set of The Boys season 5 show the sinister lengths that Homelander (Antony Starr) will go to quell any resistance by anti-supe protesters. The dark Prime Video superhero series imagines a world where the profession of powered heroes is dominated by corrupt corporations and dangerous and power-hungry narcissistic individuals. The fifth and final season of The Boys will see Homelander finally gain control of the world, as the titular group is divided and imprisoned.

Over ten years after Fringe stopped airing, the classic sci-fi TV show remains a favorite among fans of the speculative fiction genre. In recent years, sci-fi and fantasy TV series have been growing in popularity and carving out a significant niche. Fringe drew inspiration from classic science fiction television while it was airing, and, in turn, has become a jumping-off point for many modern series that deal with time travel, alternate universes, and investigation. The extensive lore and interconnected timelines on Fringe are some of the best parts of the show and similar series touch upon these topics.
The best episodes of Fringe combine the best of the crime procedural genre with that of sci-fi. If there’s one thing Eric Kripke knows, it’s how to hook an audience and keep them binging way past bedtime and eagerly waiting for more. Seriously, this guy is like a wizard of the TV land who crafts shows that grab you by the feels, and literally, the throat.

Homelander actor Anthony Starr recently discussed one of the most entertaining scenes from Prime Video's hit series The Boys, revealing why it was one of his favorites. In Season 2's third episode, "Over the Hill with the Sword of a Thousand Men," Chace Crawford's The Deep chases Billy Butcher and his titular team's Yatch down riding a whale. Butcher eventually impales the creature with the boat when the Vought hero attempts to block their escape, leaving The Deep devasted.
Starr and The Boys' creator, Eric Kripke, discussed the series and its upcoming season in a Collider interview, where the actor insisted that the characters on the show are awful and almost always do bad things for a reason, enabling them to connect with fans. The Boys showrunner, Eric Kripke, disputes claims that the hit Prime Video series has gone woke, saying it's the world that has changed to match the series. Despite its comical setting with evil superheroes, The Boys has always been a scathing satire of the American commercial system. Later seasons saw the show get political, as Homelander (Antony Starr) made a play for the White House in Season 4. Fans criticized the series for being too on the nose with its satire in Season 4, but Eric Kripke never could have predicted just how accurate the show's reflection of reality would be.
Speaking to Variety, Eric Kripke discussed how The Boys became one of the most relevant superhero shows around. Unlike the McU's Falcon and the Winter Soldier, whose social lesson boils down to "do politics better," The Boys takes a multi-faceted approach, dissecting several elements of the American political and capitalistic system.

The Boys season 5 gets a new update, with creator Eric Kripke unveiling an intriguing title for episode 1. First released on Prime Video in 2019, the hit superhero satire has become one of the streamer's most popular offerings. After the release of season 4 earlier this year, which continues Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) bloody quest for vengeance against Homelander (Antony Starr), The Boys season 5 is confirmed to bring the show to an end, with production getting underway in Toronto this month.
Kripke now takes to X, formerly Twitter, to share an image of the script title page for The Boys season 5, episode 1, revealing the title to be "Fifteen Inches Of Sheer Dynamite." The title page also confirms that episode 1 was penned by Paul Grellong and directed by Phil Sgriccia, both of whom are also executive producers on the show. Kripke's post includes a "#DayOne" hashtag, seemingly confirming that filming is now underway. Check out Kripke's post below:

Jack Quaid, the young actor famous for giving life to Hughie in Amazon's superhero series The Boys, has decided to share what he expects from his character for season 5, which will premiere sometime in 2026. Specifically, he has one important request: he'd like less screen time for his butt.
In The Boys, Quaid plays Hughie Campbell, a member of the gang fighting the "supes" who work for the mammoth-like corporation known as Vought International. While he doesn't have a specific power, in recent seasons, we've seen Hughie experiment with Compound V, allowing him to go toe to toe with other supes for a limited amount of time.

The Boys Season 5 may be the last time audiences will see the anti-Supes task force, but that doesn't mean the mature-rated universe will be ending anytime soon. After the fifth and final season, Vought Rising tells the story behind the infamous company's foundation, starring Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles, reprising their roles as Stormfront and Soldier Boy, respectively. They won't be alone, however, as a new Supe has been cast in the fifth and final season of The Boys, as well as its Vought-centric spinoff.
Entertainment Weekly exclusively reports that Mason Dye, who previously appeared in Stranger Things, has been added to The Boys universe as Bombsight. The character is the third-oldest active Supe, just behind Stormfront and Soldier Boy, who started their careers in the 1950s. Although Dye is reportedly only a guest star in The Boys Season 5, he will have a recurring role in the prequel Vought Rising.

The Boys season 5 adds a new actor to its cast, as a Stranger Things star joins as a new Supe. Created by Eric Kripke, Prime Video's hit superhero parody show returned for season 4 earlier this year, continuing Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) quest for vengeance against Homelander (Antony Starr) and Vought. The Boys season 5 is now confirmed to bring the show to an end, with a roster of both new and old Supes assembling for the final episodes.
Variety now reports that actor Mason Dye has been cast in The Boys season 5 as Bombsight. Though details regarding the character haven't yet been released, Bombsight was mentioned in season 4 as a Supe who appeared in "The Curse of Fu Manchu," a 1950s Vought superhero movie. As for where audiences will have seen Dye previously, the actor recently appeared in Stranger Things season 4 as Jason Carver, a Hawkins High basketball star and supporting antagonist.

The Boys has become one of the most popular comic book series largely due to its highly successful TV adaptation, which has in turn boosted the comic’s popularity. Meanwhile, DC Comics stands as one of the world’s largest comic book publishers, and The Boys cleverly satirizes elements of their work.
Despite their distinct plots and characters (beyond The Boys’ parody of DC’s characters), there are individuals who bridge both worlds through their involvement in live-action adaptations of The Boys and DC’s comic book properties, both in live-action and animated forms.
Here are the actors and actresses who have appeared in both The Boys and DC’s live-action and animated adaptations. In this article, you’ll discover who they are and the roles they played.

We know that The Boys is one of the most popular comic book series of all time, which is mostly due to the TV series being exceptionally popular; this, of course, increased the popularity of the comic book as well. At the same time, DC Comics is one of the two biggest comic book publishers in the world, and The Boys is, in part, satirizing their work as well.
While these two have very little in common in terms of their plots and characters (aside from the fact that some of The Boys characters are parodies of DC’s characters), there are several people that connect the live-action adaptation of The Boys, as well as the live-action and animated adaptation of DC’s comic books.

Dakota Johnson recalls her cameo in The Office finale as the worst time of her life. She filmed for two weeks but had minimal screen time and expected to only show up for half a day. Her small role was intended to set up a spinoff that never panned out, which may have been for the best considering her negative experience.
Dakota Johnson recalls her cameo from The Office finale, and she's not happy about it. Aired in 2013, the series finale bid farewell to the beloved mockumentary sitcom that ran on NBC for nine seasons. The two-part episode was tasked with saying goodbye to The Office cast and characters, including Steve Carell who returned as Michael Scott, along with introducing a new generation of Dunder Mifflin employees to replace them, one of which included Dakota Johnson as a character named Dakota.

The award-winning 2017 horror novel The Changeling by Victor Lavalle has been adapted into a television series of the same name by Apple TV+. Created by Kelly Marcel, directed by Melina Matsoukas, and with Lavalle executive producing, the series leans into unsettling its audience rather than relying on cheap scares to instill a sense of terror. With an entertaining ensemble cast guiding the audience through its portrait of psychological deterioration, The Changeling succeeds when it focuses on the raw emotions bubbling under the surface instead of the occasionally pretentious staging around it.
New York City rare bookseller Apollo Kagwa, played by Lakeith Stanfield, who also executive produces the adaptation, welcomes the birth of a son with his wife Emma Valentine (Clark Backo). However, the birth of their son causes a sudden and alarming behavior shift for Emma, who learns more about her family's history of mental health issues as she acts increasingly erratically around the infant.

Every horror story is already somewhat spoiled.
Whether it’s a movie, TV show, book, or short story, the horror classification alone is a tip off to the audience; a warning that despite any good fortune these characters appear to have, their lives are about to take a sharp downward turn.
So unfolds the first installment of Apple’s “The Changeling,” based on the 2017 horror novel by Victor Lavalle and adapted for television by Kelly Marcel. Episode 101 wears the disguise of romantic drama, the story of Apollo Kagwa (Lakeith Stanfield) and Emma Valentine (Clark Backo), a rare bookseller and librarian who fall in love. There’s even a parallel flashback to Apollo’s mother Lillian (Alexis Louder) and father Brian (Jared Abrahamson). Packaged with Melina Matsoukas’ direction, Marcell Rev’s cinematography, and Lavalle himself narrating lofty ideas about fate and identity, you could almost forget briefly forget that promised seed...

A specially signed copy of Harper Lee’s classic novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” could be the golden ticket to new beginnings for Apollo Kagwa’s (Lakeith Stanfield) family in a new trailer for the Apple TV+ series “The Changeling.”
“To Kill a Mockingbird?” Emma, who is played by Clark Backo, said in the clip titled “What a Day,” which you can watch above, released Thursday exclusively via TheWrap.
The scene in the clip began with Apollo coming home and seeing Emma holding their son Brian. Apollo, book dealer, showed Emma his latest find.
“That’s right, a true first edition, original cover. It’s in pristine condition — not a scratch,” Apollo responded. “Now, a book like that could get us… $10,000.”
In shock, Emma questioned, “10?”
Apollo then proceeded to go more in depth with how that particular copy is even more unique than what he led with, mentioning that Lee...

According to rudimentary Googling, Apple has a generally well-regarded parental leave policy. But according to the output at Apple TV+, there is anxiety in the water in Cupertino (or in the company’s Los Angeles offices).
Dropping this Friday, The Changeling is the second Apple TV+ series in five years blending fairy tale and horror to delve into maternal and paternal anxieties about nature, nurture and the price paid when parents are forced to leave babies behind to return to work.
Perhaps not as bluntly effective as Servant, The Changeling is an admirably ambitious series, especially on thematic levels, where it seems to be bursting with commentary on 21st century parenting. As storytelling, though, Kelly Marcel’s adaptation of Victor Lavalle’s novel is a mess. Though the series isn’t lurching through time and frames of reality without intent, its refusal to build any sort of momentum becomes increasingly frustrating.
