He was a writer and producer, known for Cape Fear (1962), The Amazing Mr. Williams (1939) and 13 Rue Madeleine (1947). He was married to Carol Weber, Patricia Owens, Ellen Drew and Alice White. He died on May 29, 1978 in Hollywood, California, USA.
