Three years after screening “Top Gun: Maverick” at the Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise has returned to the French Riviera to showcase his latest blockbuster stunt extravaganza, “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning.”
Directed and co-written by frequent Cruise collaborator Christopher McQuarrie, the eighth and latest installment in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise is a direct sequel to 2023’s “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning.” That film introduced viewers to new characters like Hayley Atwell’s Grace, Esai Morales’ villainous Gabriel, Greg Tarzan Davis’ Degas, Pom Klementieff’s skilled assassin Paris and Shea Whigham’s Jasper Briggs. Those characters and actors are all set to return, once again, in “The Final Reckoning.”
They are accompanied in it by “Mission: Impossible” newcomers Holt McCallany (“Mindhunter”), Janet McTeer (“Ozark”), Nick Offerman (“Parks and Recreation”), Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”), Katy O’Brian (“Twisters”) and Tramell Tillman (“Severance”), as well as returning franchise veterans like Simon Pegg,...

Actor Billy Zane will debut his portrayal of legendary actor Marlon Brando later this month at the Torino Film Festival in Italy. Zane plays Brando in the film “Waltzing With Brando,” which will close out the 42nd edition of the prestigious festival. The film focuses on an unusual period in Brando’s life when he juggled roles in “The Godfather” and “Last Tango in Paris.” It also explores his plans to build a sustainable retreat on the remote island of Tetiaroa in French Polynesia.
Directed by Bill Fishman, “Waltzing With Brando” tells the true story of how Brando recruited architect Bernard Judge to help design and build the eco-friendly retreat in the early 1970s. According to festival artistic director Giulio Base, Zane brings an intense focus and understanding to his role as Brando. Base told an entertainment publication that viewers “won’t believe it” and that Zane appears “possessed” by Brando in the performance.

Exclusive: Bérénice Bejo (The Artist) agreed that making Cannes opening-night film Final Cut (Coupez!) with filmmaker husband Michel Hazanavicius (The Players) had been a family affair.
Pausing for a split second to make a mental calculation, she began, “Our daughter, his daughter, a niece who was the camera woman in the film, and our son who you barely saw — yes, it was a family affair.”
To explain, she’s referring to the couple’s daughter Gloria, Hazanavicius’ daughter Simone from a previous relationship, his brother’s daughter and niece Raika and the couple’s teenage son Lucien.
”That’s right,” Bejo told Deadline at the opening-night dinner for Final Cut at the Hotel Martinez. “We wanted the family close. The pandemic was going on and it gave us peace of mind to all be together.”
