Dave Matthews Net Worth in 2025: How Rich Is the American Musician?
Image
Dave Matthews has built a career that goes far beyond his prominent voice and jam-packed concerts. With a net worth of $350 million, he’s one of the richest musicians out there. But how did he get here? It’s not just from selling albums.

Matthews is the frontman of the Dave Matthews Band (Dmb), one of the most successful touring acts in history. Since forming in 1991, the band has been on the road almost every summer, making millions from their live shows.

They don’t just play the same songs every night—each show is distinct, making fans come back constantly. This impressive touring style has made Dmb one of the biggest money-making bands in the world.

But Matthews also had an astonishing acting career, showing up in movies alongside Adam Sandler and even appearing in the hit TV series House. And when he’s not making music or acting,...

Julia Roberts Celebrates ‘Joyous, Spontaneous Abandon’ of Dave Matthews Band for Rock Hall
Image
When the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame released the names of special guests coming to the ceremony this year, quite a few people were surprised to see Julia Roberts listed alongside the likes of Questlove and Tom Morello. But Dave Matthews Band fans knew Roberts was a long time Dmb superfan and correctly guessed she’d deliver their induction speech.

Roberts is such a big fan of the group that she appeared in their 2005 “Dreamgirl” video as a woman with very unsettling dreams. “The idea, originally, was there would be...

Dave Matthews Band Announce Their 2024 Summer Tour – Setlist & Tickets Info
Image
The Dave Matthews Band (Dmb) has announced this year’s summer tour.

The band will return to some of the venues they performed at last year during the 2023 Summer Tour. Places like The Woodlands, Texas, West Palm Beach, Florida and Wantagh, New York, among others, will be welcoming the rock band back.

Many of their tour stops will have them staying for two nights and performing back-to-back concerts.

Also, like last year, Dmb is scheduled to conclude the summer tour in George, Washington, at the Gorge Amphitheatre in September.

Dmb has found much success since their formation in 1991. With ten studio albums, they’ve sold over 30 million albums in the whole country alone. They’ve also been nominated for the Grammy Awards 14 times and won Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1997.

Band members include frontman Dave Mathews, bassist Stefan Lessard, drummer Carter Beauford, violinist Boyd Tinsley and saxophonist LeRoi Moore.

From band employees to Deadheads, many were shaken, but few more so than Garcia’s fellow bandmates. Drummer Mickey Hart, who joined the Dead in 1967 and is currently part of Dead & Company, spoke with Rolling Stone about his memories of that day and what followed.

I always remember where I was when I heard. You never forget those kinds of things. Jerry wasn’t well to begin with,...

Why Is a Chicago Indie Rocker Covering a Lost Dave Matthews Band LP?
“I love Coldplay!” Ryley Walker yells in the middle of a crowded bar in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. “There, I said it.” It’s been a long journey to get to this point, but after years of disavowing his passion for bands like Coldplay, Switchfoot and DC Talk in order to pursue an identity as know-it-all indie rocker, the singer-songwriter has finally reconciled who he is today with the music he cherished growing up. “All I want to do right now is go back to the music I heard...

Tom Hanks as Dave Matthews? Boyd Tinsley Wants to See It
It's only a matter of time before Hollywood execs cash in on the hugely passionate Dave Matthews Band fan base and greenlight a movie about the feel-good rock group.

Now that Boyd Tinsley is entering the movie business as producer of the indie "Faces in the Mirror," premiering Aug. 30 on SnagFilms.com, and the Dmb violinist has a few suggestions for who should play each member of the band.

"A young Tom Hanks would be a great Dave Matthews. That's the one that I could say definitively," Tinsley told us in an exclusive interview. "I hope Dave is flattered by that, and I hope Tom Hanks is too. I think they will be."

We think that casting choice is spot-on since the pair share a pretty close resemblance. However, with Matthews having his own acting career — he's appeared in "Just Go With It," "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" and...

Dave Matthews Band, Flaming Lips Bring Hangout Fest To A Close
Dmb returned to the stage at the fest, while the Flaming Lips paid tribute to an old classic.

Gulf Shores, Alabama — Not long after the Dave Matthews Band had finished their cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" on Sunday night, and only minutes after the final flare of fireworks had faded out over the Gulf of Mexico, the crew who held the Hangout Festival together for three long days was already in the process of tearing the whole thing down.

Fences were disassembled and carted off by forklift, massive stage-spanning banners were folded by weary stagehands, and crews of volunteers walked arm-in-arm along the stretch of white-sand beach picking up empties and stray cigarette butts. Such is the task of closing up shop at a fest unlike any other,...

Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Damon Wayans Jr., Adam Pally, Casey Wilson, and Eliza Coupe in Happy Endings (2011)
'Happy Endings' recap: Grant Land
Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Damon Wayans Jr., Adam Pally, Casey Wilson, and Eliza Coupe in Happy Endings (2011)
During last week’s blisteringly funny Valentine’s Day-themed episode of Happy Endings it was determined that, in their own bizarro Friends world, Dave is Ross, Alex is Rachel, Penny is Phoebe, Jane is Monica, and Max is (Fat) Joey. (Which, by default, makes Brad Chandler. Makes sense, though Chandler was never this cool.)

But in last night’s episode, the almost aptly-titled “Everybody Loves Grant,” the gang had a whole new set of identities to live by: Dave is The Dave, Alex is The One with the Store, Penny is The Single One, Jane is The Type A One,...

Dave Matthews Band Announce Festival Details
Band will headline four three-day festivals this summer, beginning in Atlantic City in June.

By Aly Semigran

For many, the Dave Matthews Band is summer. So, after a 20-year kinship with the band on the road, what exactly would a Dmb-less summer look like for devoted fans? Lucky for "Dave heads," they'll no longer have to ponder that prospect.

In 2010 the band announced they would be taking a hiatus from touring in 2011, but in the months that followed, an announcement was made that the multifaceted group — which includes Dave Matthews, Carter Beauford, Stefan Lessard and Boyd Tinsley, as well as Rashawn Ross, Tim Reynolds and Jeff Coffin (who stepped in after the death of founding member LeRoi Moore) — would be headlining a four-stop, multi-act Caravan festival from June to September.

On February 22, members of Dmb's fan club, the Warehouse, received a cryptic "save the date" e-mail...

MTV's World Cup Of Rock: U.S.A. Vs. South Africa
It's MTV's World Cup of Rock! The World Cup is the greatest sporting event on the planet, a super-sized stage where legends are born with every strike of the ball, where infamy is just a moment away and where the dreams of millions live or die by the minute. That's why, in the spirit of the 2010 MTV Musical March Madness competition, we've created "The World Cup (Of Rock)," a FIFA-style tournament that takes 16 of the biggest nations — rock-wise (sorry Algeria) — and pits them against one another to determine just which is the most rockingly awesome. Heavyweights like the U.S.A., England, France and Germany are all here, but so are a handful of surprisingly strong sleeper countries. As the Cup progresses, we'll be unveiling the match-ups, and it's up to you to vote your favorites through. In the end, only one nation will be left standing: the world champion of rock.

Tim Burton Is Punishing Us With a 3D Stop Mo Version of "The Addams Family"
Well, well, well. Do you people see what your curiosity about Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland has wrought? You can't give a man $225 million in three weeks of box office and not expect him to punish you. And this is how Tim Burton is going to punish your asses:

3D. Stop Motion. Addams Family.

You just let that sink in, why don't you. Maybe sing the theme song in your head while you let that information wreck your internal thought process.

How's that feeling for you? Oh, good. Good. I'm glad. Yeah. There's a little coffee dribbling down your chin there. You may want to get a napkin. I know, I know. It's hard to swallow right now. Give it a minute. I think feeling will start to return to your fingers momentarily. Ride it out. Ride it out. It's like an ice-cream headache, right? But it just won't go away.

Dave Matthews Band Give Away New Single From Upcoming Album
Dave Matthews Band are giving away their new song. Starting on April 14, when they kick off their summer tour, until a week ahead, they give fans a chance to download for free "Funny the Way It Is", the first single off their upcoming album "Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King".

"It's a pretty song and it talks about a lot of things," vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews says of the new single. "[It's about] death and love and all those things ... but it also talks about the world of opposites that we are in."

"That's the idea behind the song - that we will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to save a kid's life," the singer continues. "And then we will drop bombs out of the sky on each other and blow a whole school of them to pieces without a thought. And that's a funny world. ... That's why it's called 'Funny the Way It Is'.
