Born in Montreal, Geoffroy Beauchemin has been involved in the cinematic world for 25 years. As a director and cinematographer, Geoffroy has collaborated on over 50 documentary projects, mostly of a social or environmental nature. His work is distinguished by an approach rooted in direct cinema, with a keen interest in listening to and observing reality.
In 2006, he co-directed his first film, "Bernard Gosselin, cinéaste ou l'art d'attrapper la parole." Selected at the Visions du réel festival in Nyon, this film narrates the career of cameraman and director Bernard Gosselin through encounters with his filmmaker friends. "Kings Of Coke" (2022 Nomination for Best Documentary Feature at the Canadian Screen Awards) is his most recent co-directed project.
The quality of his cinematography in various films and documentary series has been acknowledged, including "Le semeur" (nomination for Best Cinematography in a Documentary Feature at the Canadian Screen Awards 2015), "Nous autres les autres," and "Manifestes en série" (nomination for Best Cinematography at the Gémeaux Awards 2008). In 2020, Geoffroy received the "Robert Brooks" award (Best Cinematography in a Documentary Feature) from the Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC) for the film "Odyssée sous les glaces" (Under the Ice).
