Elizabeth Beckwith grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, the youngest of four
children. When she was sixteen years old she began performing stand-up
comedy at many local Vegas bars and cafes. After graduating from Loyola
Marymount University, Elizabeth got her first big break when she was
chosen as one of the "new faces" for the Just For Laughs Montreal
International Comedy Festival (1998). Shortly thereafter she was
featured in the Time magazine piece, "Funny: The Next Generation," and
later in Variety's Ten Comics to Watch series.
Author of the popular and critically praised satirical parenting book, Raising The Perfect Child Through Guilt and Manipulation (HarperCollins, 2009), Elizabeth has made many appearances on television as an actress and a comedian on shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Late, Late Show. She has written comedy pilots for FBC and USA. Her work has also been read in The Huffington Post, Psychology Today, and The Believer (her popular Believer piece was chosen for inclusion in the Random House book, Care To Make Love in That Gross Little Space Between Cars alongside work by Zach Galifianakis and Judd Apatow).
