“Hannah Montana” was a star-making role for Miley Cyrus, with the Disney Channel mega-hit propelling her onward to a wildly successful career in music.

However, there were other young actresses who were also up for the role, and the series’ original casting director is opening up about who nearly played the iconic TV character.

It all began with a TikTok video claiming that the role almost went to Spanish-Mexican singer Belinda, who made her Disney Channel debut in “The Cheetah Girls 2”.

However, casting director Lisa London begged to differ, posting a TikTok clip of her own that begins with the original video.

After introducing herself, London dished out the truth.

“I’m actually the original casting director for ‘Hannah Montana’ and I discovered Miley Cyrus,” said London.

The star-studded world premiere of the upcoming summer action-comedy Baywatch was held in Miami on May 13th on the beach. The spectacular event was attended by the cast including Priyanka Chopra who stars in her first Hollywood motion picture. Paramount Pictures releases Baywatch in North American theaters next Thursday, May 25, ahead of the long Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Baywatch follows devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (Johnson) as he butts heads with a brash new recruit (Efron). Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Jon Bass, Kelly Rohrbach, and Ilfenesh Hadera. Directed by Seth Gordon.

Dwayne Johnson continues revealing new photos from the set of the "Baywatch" movie and has announced three more casting additions to the Paramount Pictures release - Belinda Peregrin, Izabel Goulart, and Charlotte McKinney.

Johnson is joined in the film by Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Priyanka Chopra, Hannibal Buress and David Hasselhoff. It is set to open May 19th next year.

The cast for the big screen adaptation of Baywatch just got prettier.

The film, which will already feature the talents of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, and Kelly Rohrbach, has just announced the latest eye candy to join the project. According to Deadline, Spanish-born Mexican singer-songwriter Belinda has signed on to join Baywatch.

Belinda has been in the public eye since 2000 when, at the age of 10, she appeared on the children's telenovela ¡Amigos X Siempre! From there, she's gone on to a successful recording career, with over 16 million albums sold worldwide. 

Baywatch will be an action-comedy based on the hit TV series that starred David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. Hasselhoff has been confirmed to be making an appearance in the film, which will be directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses).

Baywatch is slated to come out on May 19, 2017.
