If you love the eerie worlds created by Stephen King, then you might love the new MGM+ series based on 2019 King’s 2019 novel The Institute. Developed by Benjamin Cavell, the supernatural horror thriller series revolves around Luke Ellis, a genius teen boy and Tim Jamieson, a former police officer, as their lives intertwine after Luke is kidnapped and wakes up in a mysterious institute alongside other kids with unusual abilities.

It's not even Halloween yet, but horror buffs, you're in for a treat. MGM+ has released a new supernatural horror series on its platform that's worth checking out. It's titled The Institute, and if you're a big fan of Stephen King, you'll most likely already be familiar with the show's title.

Yes, this show is based on King's 2019 sci-fi horror novel of the same name. It is produced by MGM+ Studios and comes from director and executive producer Jack Bender (From) and writer and executive producer Benjamin Cavell.

The latest Stephen King adaptation, The Institute should be the perfect way to pass time until the new season of Stranger Things is released. Based on King's 2019 novel, The Institute centers around a mysterious facility housing a bunch of teenagers with supernatural abilities. Luke Ellis (Joe Freeman) is our protagonist, and we follow his story as he wakes up in his strange new surroundings and meets Ms. Sigsby (Marie-Louise Parker), the enigmatic head of The Institute.

Outside of the Institute, in a nearby town, we meet Tim Jamieson, a former police officer played by Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone). Tim is eager to get a fresh start, but his peace and quiet doesn't last for long as he soon becomes entangled in the mysteries of the shadowy institution next door.

"There are things going on that you would not believe." Those are the chilling words that open the first trailer for The Institute, the thrilling new MGM+ series based on the novel by Stephen King. Starring Ben Barnes, Mary-Louise Parker and Joe Freeman, the eight-episode first season is set to start streaming on July 13, and if the new preview (seen below) is any indication of how things will go, fans are in for a wild ride.

Showcasing a Stranger Things-like setting, we see Luke Ellis (Freeman) as he's taken from his home and brought to The Institute, a mysterious facility that experiments on kids with special abilities run by the enigmatic Ms Sigsby (Parker). Stephen King Horror Series 'The Institute' Sets MGM+ Streaming Date

The Institute, the dark psychological horror series adapted from the Stephen King novel of the same name, has just received a significant update. The show, created and directed by TV veteran Jack Bender, of The Sopranos, From, and Mr. Mercedes fame, will release this summer on MGM+. The premiere will be on Jul. 13, 9 Pm Et/Pt.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, The Institute stars Ben Barnes and Mary-Louise Parker, and it consists of eight episodes, although it’s not entirely clear if they will all be released on Jul. 13. The miniseries also stars Joe Freeman, Brendan Beiser, Simone Miller, Martin Roach, Julian Richings, and Hannah Galway. Per the official plot synopsis:

Exclusive: The Institute, MGM+‘s thriller series based on the 2019 Stephen King novel, has rounded out its cast. Brendan Beiser (The Boys) is set as a series regular, and Mary Walsh (Resident Alien) and Jordan Alexander (Gossip Girl) have been tapped for recurring roles in the series from director/executive producer Jack Bender, writer/executive producer Benjamin Cavell and MGM+ Studios. Production will begin in Nova Scotia later this year.

They join previously announced Mary-Louise Parker, Ben Barnes, Simone Miller and Jason Diaz, along with Joe Freeman, Fionn Laird, Hannah Galway, Julian Richings, Robert Joy, Viggo Hanvelt, Arlen So, Birva Pandya, Dan Beirne, Martin Roach and Jane Luk.

Pretty Hard Cases has one more batch of cases to solve. Amazon Freevee has announced the premiere date for the third and final season of the buddy cop drama.

Meredith MacNeill, Adrienne C. Moore, Tara Strong, Karen Robinson, Dean McDermott, Al Mukadam, Percy Hynes White, and Katie Douglas star in the drama, which follows Samantha Wazowski (MacNeill) and Kelly Duff (Moore) as they solve cases. Great premise but the execution may be a little dubious. It’s strength is the storyline and that it may remind the viewer of Rubicon and Proof because Danny Glover’s character is a mathematician and there is a visible mystery.

A Trifecta of Jeffery Lando Films to Choose From
Foy first told us about Jeffery Lando's House of Bones, in which the lovely Charisma Carpenter plays a ghost hunter, back in December of 2008, and finally this weekend it debuts on Syfy. In addition, the indie filmmaker who hails from Vancouver has two other Canadian premieres happening within the next few days.

But first here's what Lando has to say about House of Bones:
