Troian Bellisario has made her mark in a number of projects across several genres. Her TV career before "On Call" includes notable guest turns in shows like "NCIS" and "Suits," as well as the title she's best known for: Freeform's teen drama series "Pretty Little Liars," where she starred as central character Spencer Hasting throughout the show's duration -- and eventually also got to portray the villainous Alex Drake, Spencer's twin sister.
Meanwhile, Bellisario's movie résumé ranges from artsy drama and comedy to science fiction and outright horror. In 2015, she notably starred in the remake of Pascal Laugier's "Martyrs" (2008), one of the best (and most gruesome scary) horror movies ever filmed. While the U.S. version didn't quite reach the blood-spattered heights of the French original, Bellisario's own visibility has only continued to increase since that film ... and with her newest success story on Amazon Prime Video, her...

The Stay in LA campaign, a call to keep more production in the city, has hit 20,000 signatures with high-profile stars including Andy Garcia and Marisa Tomei joining the call alongside filmmakers including Jonathan Nolan and Paul Feig.
This comes after a week of awards season events where the likes of Hacks co-creator Paul W. Downs and DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter stumped for the campaign at high-profile shindigs.
As Hacks, which shoots in locations including Altadena, won best comedy series at the Critics Choice Awards, Downs said that “we need to ask to shoot our shows in LA” and the “people in the room have the power to make it happen”, while Linka Glatter, who lost her home in the wildfires, urged directors to “insist that your projects are shot where they are set”.

In fact, it sometimes stretches the truth and bends the rules to keep the story exciting and unpredictable.

Shows about police officers have been around for decades. The conflict and dangerous situations that come with the profession are evidently fertile ground for on-screen drama. Since 2000, a number of cop shows have come and gone, some of which put unique spins on the classic procedural formula. Justified takes the police thriller and mixes it with the Western, Fargo adds comedy, and Hannibal adds horror.
Sometimes, though, audiences are just looking for a more typical show about cops. Recent shows like We Own This City and Mare of Easttown delivered on this front, as has True Detective, The Shield, S.W.A.T., and The Rookie. There's one cop thriller show, however, that has just recently released on Prime Video, and it's quickly established itself as a win with audiences for its grounded storytelling and compelling character drama.
Mare of Easttown season 2 is not yet confirmed, but it has been reported to be a possibility.

Dick Wolf has brought his signature brand of police procedural to Amazon Prime Video in On Call, but will the gritty cop show score a second season? Created for the small screen by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf, the half-hour police drama follows veteran Long Beach Pd training officer Traci Harmon (Troian Bellisario) and her new rookie partner, Officer Alex Diaz (Brandon Larracuente), as they try to perform their duty in the wake of a tragedy on the force. Being a streaming-exclusive, On Call is a bit more brash than other Dick Wolf projects, but is nevertheless just as accessible.
Originally meant to be an exclusive program on the ill-fated IMBb TV streamer, the series eventually made its way to Prime Video where it premiered in the early days of 2025. Though reviews have been somewhat middling for the new cop show, On Call has proven its advantage over network TV...

Elliot Wolf and Tim Walsh have teamed up for On Call. Wolf finds himself with the full reins on a live-action program for the first time in his career, as his prior work was exclusively in the serialized podcast world. Producing televised crime dramas is in Wolf's DNA, as his father, Television Academy Hall of Famer Dick Wolf, is responsible for fronting the likes of Law & Order and the various Chicago shows. Walsh worked with Wolf's father on Chicago P.D., having produced 69 episodes of the series from 2014 until 2017.
On Call embodies the spirit of the Dick Wolf projects of yesteryear but makes a grand effort to carve out its own niche. The Prime Video series follows Officer Harmon (Troian Bellisario), a jaded veteran cop paired with rookie policeman Officer Diaz (Brandon Larracuente) to patrol the streets of Long Beach, California.

Prime Video's new police procedural, On Call, is the perfect show to watch while waiting for the Law & Order franchise to return. Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit had their mid-season finales in mid-November, with no new Law & Order episodes until January 16, 2025. Furthermore, there is no news of when Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 will premiere on Peacock. However, Prime Video's On Call is an ideal alternative to stream while waiting for the iconic Law & Order franchise to return.
On Call is a new Prime Video TV show that premiered on January 9, 2025. On Call features an epic cast of characters, including Full House's Lori Loughlin and Pretty Little Liars' Troian Bellisario. Similar to the Law & Order franchise, On Call is a police procedural TV show, but whereas Law & Order is also a legal drama, On Call focuses entirely on police work.

With the entire Wilshire Boulevard section of the LAPD equally mourning and wanting payback, veteran patrolwoman Traci Harmon (Troian Bellisario) is hard-hit as she was Delgado’s training officer. That haunts her as she’s now assigned rookie cop Alex Diaz (Brandon Larracuente).
Courtesy: Prime Video
At first, the show looks like the same material we’ve seen in scores of series', especially The Rookie. That includes Harmon clashing with old-school Sgt. Lasman (Eriq Lasalle), whose methods aren’t what she wants to teach Diaz.

Lori Loughlin’s new role in Prime Video’s “On Call” is so unlike anything else she’s done before, she didn’t even recognize herself on screen at first as a tough cop who’s light years away from her characters in “Full House” and “When Calls the Heart.”
Loughlin plays police lieutenant Bishop, who’s tough on herself and the officers under her command, including Troian Bellisario’s veteran cop and Brandon Larracuente’s rookie character.
In a recent interview with TheWrap, she and co-star Eriq La Salle — who also directed half the episodes — raved about the Dick Wolf-produced show and how the use of footage from dash cams and bodycams sets the series apart from other police dramas.
TheWrap: I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like this series.
Eriq La Salle: [Grins] That’s the idea.

Officer Holt suddenly disappears after an incident in On Call's episode 3, making it hard not to wonder what happened to him. Introduced in the Amazon Prime Video detective show's opening episode, Holt is portrayed as a rookie officer in the Long Beach police department. Unlike Troian Bellisario's Officer Harmon and Brandon Larracuente's Officer Diaz, he is not one of the primary characters in On Call. However, he plays a crucial role in making Diaz a little concerned about his collaboration with Harmon by spreading rumors about Harmon's involvement in another officer's termination from the police force.
Throughout On Call's first three episodes, Holt also appears time and again as Harmon and Diaz deal with the day-to-day crimes in their neighborhood while trying to find Delgado's killer. However, Holt's journey reaches...

Big-shot producer Dick Wolf is the mastermind behind the Law and Order franchise. He created this crime series back in 1990, and it has subsequently become one of the most successful procedurals of all time. Now, there are multiple Law & Order series running, including the mothership series, which was revived in 2022, Law & Order: Svu, and Law & Order: Organized Crime. The series has also had multiple spinoffs that have since concluded, including Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, and Law & Order: LA.
Though his name is most synonymous with the Law & Order IP, Wolf has also been involved in other major television shows. This has included the One Chicago series, as well as FBI and its spinoffs FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. These massive franchise shows have been coupled with standalone series like Murder for Hire. Wolf's impressive list of credits shows just how...

At TV Fanatic, we’re big fans of Monica Raymund.
We’ve watched her in Lie to Me, Chicago Fire, and Hightown. She’s made a career of playing complex characters, and all of her roles have been unique.
While we’d love her to stop by for a Chicago Fire encore, she reunited with Dick Wolf in the super producer’s first scripted streaming series, On Call.
(Prime Video/Screenshot)
The eight-episode drama dropped in its entirety on Prime Video on Thursday, January 9, and we’re glad to report that it perfectly utilizes the switch from broadcast to streaming for Wolf.
On Call is hard-hitting and gripping, and we’re still trying to wrap our heads around all the twists and turns.
Still, the inciting incident involving Monica’s character, Maria Delgado, shines through the season like a halo effect.

“On Call” producers Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf describe the new police series, which premiered all of Season 1 Thursday on Prime Video, as “‘Adam 12’ on meth.'”
The latest project from Wolf Entertainment harkens back to the classic 1960s series about a pair of patrolmen not only in subject matter, but in length: Unlike most contemporary dramas, it’s only 30 minutes.
“Attention has never been more valuable of a commodity in this day and age and the half-hour format was really enticing for us. Looking at the 1950s and 1960 primetime schedule, they’re all half-hour procedural dramas. Those don’t really exist today,” Wolf, who is the son of “Law & Order” mega-producer Dick Wolf, told TheWrap.

On Call series creator Elliot Wolf has explained whether Wolf Entertainment's latest streaming series takes place in the shared One Chicago universe. The Prime Video series is the first from the production company to be a half-hour per episode, focused on officer Traci Harmon (Troian Bellisario) and rookie Alex Diaz (Brandon Larracuente) as they respond to calls in Long Beach, California. The procedural style is similar to other shows produced by the studio, including those that fall under the Law & Order, One Chicago and FBI umbrellas, created by Dick Wolf. These three franchises also connect in the same universe.
Speaking with Variety, Wolf explained that On Call does not currently take place in the same universe as his father's franchises, One Chicago, Law & Order, and FBI. However, the series creator is open to the idea. He explained how it could still work even though actors like Monica Raymund,...

Troian Bellisario and Brandon Larracuente are teaming up for On Call. The Dick Wolf-produced Prime Video series stars Bellisario in the lead role of Officer Traci Harmon, a veteran cop with a chip on her shoulder after experiencing a career-altering call years prior. By her side is Larracuente's Officer Alex Diaz, a rookie cop coming into the Long Beach Police Department with a high level of hope.
On Call represents Bellisario's first main role on a television series since her breakout in Pretty Little Liars. She starred as Spencer Hastings on that mystery teen drama for 160 episodes in the 2010s. Larracuente is coming off of television success with roles in hit shows like 13 Reasons Why, Party of Five, and The Good Doctor.

“On Call,” the upcoming Wolf Entertainment drama, isn’t like the other Dick Wolf dramas on television.
The series is the company’s first scripted streaming series, rolling out all nine episodes on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 9. It’s the first half-hour drama Wolf Entertainment has released — and the first show Elliot Wolf and Tim Walsh created.
“I think that for us, the biggest thing was we both had something to prove. We had, I think, a self-imposed chip on our shoulders, not only to make it great, but to make it feel different than everything that we previously worked on, everything that we see on the television landscape today,” Wolf tells Variety.

Lori Loughlin scored a new gig. She’s returning to the small screen for the first time in six years. The When Calls the Heart alum will have Hearties buzzing.
Loughlin’s New Gig
To pop culture fans and ’90s lovers, Loughlin is best known as Aunt Becky on ABC’s Full House and the Netflix reboot Fuller House. To Hearties, she’s known for her role as Abigail Stanton on Wcth. She left the Hallmark Channel series after she was involved in the college admissions scandal. Loughlin left the wholesome show for something different.
She’s showing a whole new side to herself in the new Prime Video series, On Call, which also stars Pretty Little Liars‘ Troian Bellisario and 13 Reasons Why‘s Brandon Larracuente. Loughlin isn’t her usual wholesome self. In fact, she wears no makeup. She also curses, which is a departure from her previous roles.

It takes less than three minutes for the latest drama to bear Dick Wolf’s name to drop an F-bomb, adopt the dashcam, and violently kill off a familiar face at point blank range. For a man renowned for his ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it approach’ to network television, it’s akin to Dylan going electric.
Initially planned for IMDb TV and then Freevee before finding a home on Prime Video, “On Call” is also Wolf’s first straight-to-streaming project (“Law & Order: Organized Crime” only moved to Peacock in its fifth season), while each episode is done and dusted within a binge-friendly 30 minutes.
Unlike his other ten and counting procedurals still on the air, Wolf’s role is limited strictly to executive producer. Though having handed over the creative reins to son Elliot (and Tim Walsh), it’s still very much under the Wolf Entertainment...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for On Call.] Chicago Fire‘s Monica Raymund returned to the world of Dick Wolf in his new half-hour drama, his first on a streaming platform, with On Call on Prime Video. But Raymund wasn’t around for long. The series begins with Raymund’s character, Officer Delgado, on patrol. However, during a stop, she is shot — and bleeds out in the street. She was one of Harmon’s (Troian Bellisario) trainees, and the officer becomes determined to get justice. It’s something she wants “so badly,” Bellisario tells TV Insider. Bringing in Raymund for such a brief role was “just a bit of sleight of hand,” executive producer Tim Walsh explains. “Hitchcock did it with Psycho, so we thought we’d do it here on On Call. Janet Leigh gets murdered a quarter of the way in. And obviously we don’t spend that much time with Monica, but we did...

“On Call” is a decent small-scale police procedural. But is it decent enough when it comes from the house of Dick Wolf?
The pedigreed eight-part show traded broadcast networks for Prime Video, where it will premiere Thursday. The novelty is that each episode is a bite-sized 30 minutes, with modest character arcs that extend over multiple episodes, and multiple seemingly random crime sequences that propel individual installments.
The result feels like “Cops” with a script. The ride-along series puts the audience largely behind the wheel with Traci Harmon. She’s a divorced surfer with a chip on her shoulder, a junkie sister and a troubled relationship with her fellows on the force. She’s wound as tight as her bun.
Riding shotgun is her trainee, the handsome newbie Alex Diaz (Brandon Larracuente). The young idealist is eager for the challenge, but he keeps leaping into the danger zone, ignoring the sage...

Troian Bellisario’s On Call tells the story of Long Beach Police training officer Traci Harmon, who takes on a new trainee in the wake of her old trainee being murdered while on call. While the show has an overarching story, from episode to episode it follows on-duty officers on patrol and how hard their everyday work is. At the beginning of the show, Officer Maria Delgado is shot dead while on call. The man who shot her happens to be a part of a massive Long Beach gang. It seems there’s an understanding between the gang and the police, but this murder is a violation of that understanding, so the gang comes under the radar. On the other hand, Diaz, Harmon’s new trainee, has his own trauma that makes him wonder if he can trust his trainer at all. Of course, by the end of the show,...

I did not have Troian Bellisario playing a cop on my 2025 bingo card, but dang, it’s exciting for sure. I know a lot of us grew up watching Pretty Little Liars, however, you don’t understand my obsession with Spencer Hastings. I digress because we’re not here to talk about why Troian is a fantastically underrated actress; we’re here to talk about her new show. On Call tells the story of regular cops out and about trying to save the day. That’s the simplest way to put it. Troian plays Traci Harmon, a trainer officer who teaches the rookies how to do the job. When tragedy strikes, Traci takes it upon herself to solve the case with the help of her new trainee, Alex Diaz. While the show has an overarching revenge-ish story, the main plot revolves around Harmon and Diaz’s daily pursuit to be fantastic On Call cops.

On Call not only thrives on realism with its grounded portrayal of police procedures but also on the strength of its strong cast of characters. Reminiscent of gripping cop dramas like David Ayer's End of Watch, Prime Video's On Call has been created by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf. The two showrunners put their experience working on legal thriller shows, like Chicago P.D. and Law & Order: Criminal Justice System, on full display by diving deep into the day-to-day snags and challenges faced by two police officers, Traci Harmon and Alex Diaz.
While following a relatively linear storyline, the Dick Wolf police procedural series unfolds at a quick pace by restricting its episodic runtime to around 30 minutes. Lori Loughlin has traded prairie dresses for a cop’s uniform. The Full House alum is back on TV in one of her first major roles since the 2018 college admissions scandal derailed her career.
Loughlin’s involvement in the scam – which involved parents’ paying money to ensure their children would be admitted to elite colleges and universities – led to her being abruptly fired from her role on Hallmark Channel’s frontier drama When Calls the Heart. She eventually served two months in prison for fraud. Since then, Loughlin has been relatively under-the-radar, taking on just a handful of TV roles, including a brief stint on Blue Bloods and several TV movies for Great American Family. But she’s poised to make a splash with a recurring role in Prime Video’s gritty new cop drama On Call.

Eriq La Salle would like to gently remind his fans that he never actually went anywhere.
Though he hasn’t done regular series television since hanging up his scrubs as Dr. Peter Benton in 2009, La Salle for the last 17 years has been firmly embedded in the “Wolf camp” — the nickname for Dick Wolf’s vast empire of cop, fire and medical shows. Ever since he made his episodic TV directing debut on Special Victims Unit in 2007, La Salle has played a behind-the-scenes role in Wolf’s primetime lineup, from serving as an executive producer on Chicago Pd to directing multiple episodes of Chicago Justice, Chicago Med, Law & Order, L&o Organized Crime and FBI.
“It’s a camp that is a bit of a meritocracy where if you prove yourself, they give you a lot of respect and support and allow you to grow within the company,” La Salle tells Deadline.
