‘Scavengers Reign’ Has Been a Rule Breaker All Along
Image
It’s been a wild ride for “Scavengers Reign,” the critically acclaimed adult animated sci-fi series, which was canceled by Max in May and got a second chance at Netflix on May 31, where it solidified its cult standing just in time for Emmy voters to make it the dark horse in the Outstanding Animated Program race. However, we’ll have to see if it’s enough to greenlight a Season 2 from creators Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner.

But then the whole point of “Scavengers Reign” was to break free from every other adult animated series. It’s a mind-bending sci-fi adventure about a deep space freighter crew stranded on the beautiful yet deadly alien planet, Vesta, whose intertwining ecosystems of exotic flora and fauna pull them into the organic machinery alongside the imaginative creatures.

Adapted from Bennett and Huettner’s 2016 Adult Swim short “Scavengers,” the 2D series is definitely more...

This Animated Series Is a Must-Watch for Any Sci-Fi Fan
Image
Scavengers Reign is a unique sci-fi animated series with a deep, existential story of survival on an alien planet. The show features intersecting storylines, emotional arcs, unexpected deaths, and themes of love and loss. Season 2 could explore civil war, romantic drama, exploration, and the consequences of moral decisions.

One of the most interesting aspects of sci-fi is that not everything has to be live-action. Mainstream properties like Blade Runner have ventured into animation, while franchises like Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shine most through animation. This has even led to animated movies hitting the big screen.

Max had a very thought-provoking sci-fi series that didn't resonate the way many expected it to. This is none other than Scavengers Reign, an animated series created by Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner. Despite Max canceling it, in 12 episodes, it told a very illuminating story about survival on an alien planet. In the process,...

Animation has always been a genre used to tell truly fantastical stories, with creators using this medium's artistic liberties to create plots that have a resounding effect on their audiences. Countless animations present viewers with a compelling narrative, but few are as impactful as Scavengers Reign. Created by Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner, this series astounded audiences with its story of workers on a space-faring freighter being forced to survive the multicolored hardships of a foreign alien planet.

Canceled Max Series With Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score Might Be Saved at Netflix
Image
Max might have pulled the plug on Scavengers Reign, but there is new hope that the show could end up getting new life elsewhere. It's heading to Netflix at the end of the month, and if it draws enough viewership on the streaming platform, it could very well get revived with a second season.

Per Variety, Scavengers Reign will start streaming on Netflix on May 31 in the United States, the UK, Ireland, and New Zealand. It's not an exclusive deal, which means that the animated series will also remain available to watch on Max. However, Max recently canceled Scavengers Reign after its premiere in October 2023. Now, Netflix is reportedly considering saving the series by renewing the show for Season 2, but no decisions will be made until after the first season starts streaming on the service.

‘Victoria’s Secret World Tour’ Fashion Show Special To Stream On Prime Video
Image
Prime Video will stream The Victoria’s Secret World Tour fashion show special on September 26 as part of an expansion of the collaboration between Amazon and Victoria’s Secret.

Billed as “part fashion event, part documentary” and presented as a re-imagined fashion show, the special will take viewers through creation of The Tour with behind-the-scenes footage and stories of the VS20 – a group of 20 global creatives who will conceive four fashion curations from the cities of Bogota, Lagos, London and Tokyo, alongside custom Victoria’s Secret designs.

The Victoria’s Secret fashion shows previously aired on CBS and ABC. In 2019, the CEO of Victoria’s Secret said in a memo to staff that the broadcast networks were no longer “the right fit” for its annual fashion shows, which had been declining in the ratings. CBS had aired the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for 15 seasons before it moved to ABC in...
