  • Famous as the voice of David Archer on the long-running rural soap on BBC Radio 4.
  • Was born on a sheep station in Tasmania, Australia.
  • When not acting, Timothy Bentinck is an inventor, website designer and songwriter. He has invented (and patented) a device called "Hippo", a little saddle for carrying a child on the hip.
  • He recorded the "Mind The Gap" warnings on the Piccadilly Line of the London Underground.
  • In 1997, he inherited the titles 12th Earl of Portland, Viscount Woodstock and Baron Cirencester upon his father's death.
  • After Harrow School he went to the University of East Anglia, and got a BA degree in the History of Art.
  • He was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to drama. He is an actor in London, England.
  • Accepted an award, with Felicity Finch, on behalf of "The Archers" radio programme, which won The Radio Personality Award at The Variety Club Showbusiness Awards 2002.
  • Has two sons, William (born in 1984) and Jasper (born in 1988).
  • After University, he trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
  • Brother of Anna Bentinck.
  • Has two older sisters, Sorrel and Anna
