4 Times Stephanie McMahon Proved That She Is the Real Boss of WWE
Image
Think about the people who have been a constant in the WWE throughout the years, and Stephanie McMahon’s name would be right there on top. Others come and go, but she somehow remains associated with the company.

Her father, Vince McMahon, is now officially out of the company after the Janel Grant Lawsuit, and her brother, Shane McMahon, is now retired as a professional wrestler and a WWE executive. But she continues appearing in WWE programming in some capacity or the other.

Her latest appearance inside the squared circle was at WWE Evolution 2025. She not only kick-started the Ple event after a remarkable speech but also interviewed Stephanie Vaquer, who won the 20-woman Battle Royal in what was a standout moment of the event. As refreshing as it was to see Stephanie McMahon back at WWE Evolution, the most noticeable feature was that she has not lost an iota of her charisma and attitude.

20 Unforgettable Moments That Changed WrestleMania Forever
Image
WrestleMania isn’t called the ‘Grandest Stage of ’Em All’ for nothing. Call it the Super Bowl, season finale, and a rock concert of pro wrestling all into one. Since that night at Madison Square Garden back in 1985, WrestleMania has been where stars are made, legends take their final bow, and fans witness moments that stay with us.

Ask any wrestling fan, and they’ll tell you, there’s something inherently different about a Mania night. Or two. In 2020, amidst the Covid pandemic, WWE decided to split WrestleMania into two nights. This change brought up another question. What if it had always been two nights? How would the stories change? Who would be where? That is, however, a conversation for another time.

While WrestleMania 41 was not the spiciest of manias we’ve come to see, Cody Rhodes held his ground against John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin popped the crowd with a surprise return,...

10 Great Forgotten WCW Matches Every Wrestling Fan Should Watch

Interest in WCW is seeing a huge resurgence, with The Rock's Seven Bucks Productions airing a full docuseries on "Who Killed WCW?" for Vice, and some interesting claims about WWE taking some of its most successful ideas from WCW in Mr. McMahon, the controversial Netflix documentary on Vince's life. Led by billionaire Ted Turner, the often-ruled promotion famously outperformed WWE in the ratings for 83 weeks before being eventually bought and owned by WWE.

In the subsequent years, programming would often point out how that went wrong, with the not-so-subtle suggestion that WCW's quality was rarely up to the standards set by WWE, before and after. However, this is not necessarily true. The quality of the in-ring work across WCW's lifespan includes some of the most overlooked matches in the history of professional wrestling, both within that 83-week glory period and across its entire existence. As of this writing, there have been well over 400 WrestleMania matches since the event began back in 1985. Since then, countless WWE wrestlers (and even a couple celebrities) have battled it out in so many different ways and with quality that runs the gamut from unwatchable to undeniable. In what is supposed to be WWE’s biggest annual show, some matches fall short, but others rise to the occasion and put together some unforgettable performances.

But today we’re celebrating the very best matches WrestleMania has ever offered wrestling fans. But first, some ground rules. First, as there are so many WrestleManias to cover, we are only going to allow one entry per event. The modern shows with two nights of festivities will only count as one combined event. Second, to keep things from becoming repetitive, there will be no match redundancies. If two wrestlers battled it out in multiple WrestleManias,...

Brock Lesnar, recognized as one of the most versatile athletes in the history of combat and entertainment sports, has been a valuable asset to WWE for years. After his last match against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam in 2023, Lesnar has been notably absent from in-ring appearances. Despite his absence, WWE still acknowledges Lesnar, even amidst his alleged connection to Vince McMahon’s trafficking lawsuit.

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar has reached remarkable milestones in his WWE career, driven by his relentless aggression and larger-than-life personality. Aptly nicknamed The Beast Incarnate, this title perfectly encapsulates his dominant presence in the ring, highlighting his commanding prowess every time he steps into competition.

The Von Erichs Aren't The Only Tragic Wrestlers Portrayed In The Iron Claw (Another Was Murdered)
Image
Warning: This article contains mention of murder and suicide.

The Iron Claw featured many wrestlers associated with the Von Erichs, including Bruiser Brody, who was stabbed by a fellow wrestler in 1988 at the age of 42. Brody's killer, José González, was acquitted of murder due to a botched trial and the absence of key witnesses and evidence. The wrestling industry is filled with tragic stories, including drug abuse, murder, and suicide, with wrestlers like Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit facing untimely ends.

The biographical sports movie The Iron Claw provides a remarkable portrayal of the successes and tragedies of a wrestling family, and their stories are connected to other tragedies in the wrestling industry. The Iron Claw looks at the lives and achievements of the Von Erich family, who were one of the most popular and successful families in the wrestling industry. Family patriarch Fritz Von Erich was the president...

Wrestlers That Deserve A Biopic
Image
The Iron Claw is hitting theaters and tells the tragic story of the Von Erich family, who dominated the wrestling world for two decades. We learn about the triumphs and the tragedy of one of the most significant families in professional wrestling. They are not the only interesting characters in the often time wacky world of tights and arm bars. A lot of wrestlers led exciting lives outside of the ring. Their stories are just ready for the big screen treatment. Wrestler biopics could be an interesting subgenre we didn’t know we needed.

Gorgeous George

The name Gorgeous George is known by hardcore wrestling fans, but many casual fans may have no idea how big of an impact he had on the wrestling industry and pop culture in general. He wrestled for 30 years, from the 30s into the 60s. George is perhaps known as one of the greatest heel performers of all time.

Since DuQuan Myers died six years ago, he’s come back in ways that are mysterious and magical and hard to explain. It started the day of his funeral, when the doves that were released over his coffin refused to fly home, perching instead in the oak tree just above his grave as if witnessing a visitation. Then there was that drive to El Paso, Texas, when — not once but twice — the windshield wipers started swiping just as the satellite radio cut out midsong, switching to the tune Myers’ sister...

Vice TV Expands ‘Dark Side’ Franchise With Football & ’90s Culture Spinoffs
Image
Exclusive: Dark Side of the Ring has become Vice TV’s most-watched show, and now the youth-skewing broadcaster is expanding the franchise.

The cable network has ordered two spinoffs – Dark Side of the Football and Dark Side of the ‘90s. The two series are in production and will join a third season of Dark Side of the Ring in 2021.

This comes after Morgan Hertzan, Vice TV’s EVP & General Manager, told Deadline in April that the network was looking to explore new strands for the franchise.

Dark Side of the Football will shine a light on stories that live in the shadows of America’s favorite sport. It will explore the sometimes-flawed men behind the masks; the coaches, teams and leagues who control their fates; and the untold story behind bizarre and tragic off-the-field events — facts that often have been hidden to shield fans from discovering unsettling truths about the game they love.

‘Dark Side Of The Ring’ Renewed For Expanded Season 3 At Vice TV
Image
Vice TV has handed wrestling docuseries Dark Side of the Ring a supersized third season.

The youth-skewing network has given its biggest original a 14 episode order for its third season – up from ten episodes on season two and six episodes for its first run.

The show, which is co-produced with Crave in Canada, will return in 2021. The order comes after Deadline revealed in April that the network was looking for more episodes after it had become a “mega-hit” for the channel, according to Morgan Hertzan, EVP & General Manager.

The second season of the series launched at the end of March with a two-part special about the story of Chris Benoit, who in 2007, killed his wife Nancy and seven year old son Daniel before hanging himself.

Other stories this season include the murder of Dino Bravo, the controversial “Brawl for All” tournament that led to career-ending injuries, the feared career of New Jack,...

‘Dark Side of the Ring’ Renewed by Vice TV for Season 3
Dark Side of the Ring (2019)
Vice TV has renewed hit professional-wrestling docuseries “Dark Side of the Ring” for a 14-episode third season, which will premiere in 2021.

We do not yet know which subjects will be covered in the supersized (Season 2 had 10 episodes) Season 3.

Last season, “Dark Side of the Ring” covered the Chris Benoit murder(s)-suicide, The Road Warriors, the murder of wrestler Dino Bravo, WWF’s “Brawl for All,” the career of hardcore wrestler New Jack, David Schultz assaulting “20/20” reporter John Stossel, the death of Jimmy Snuka’s girlfriend Nancy Argentino, Owen Hart’s tragic death at a WWF pay-per-view event and Herb Adams’ attempt to build a wrestling empire.

The Season 3 renewal news should probably come to those in the know as a formality: “Dark Side of the Ring” is Vice TV’s highest-rated show.

“‘Dark Side of the Ring’ is a knockout show for Vice TV. The tag-team executive producers...

Owen Hart’s ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ Episode Is the Highest-Rated Telecast in Vice TV History
Owen Hart
Owen Hart’s “Dark Side of the Ring” episode pinned down 626,000 total viewers, counting three days of DVR viewing, with 390,000 of that total coming from the key adults 18-49 demographic. Both are new ratings records for a Vice TV telecast, according to Nielsen.

Guess what the previous record-holder was? Yeah, the prior week’s “Dark Side of the Ring.”

By this point in the story, you’ve probably figured out that “Dark Side” is Vice’s most successful series in its relatively young history, and that Season 2 has outperformed Season 1.

Wrestling doc series Dark Side of the Ring has become the highest rated show for Vice TV since its launch four years ago.

The season finale, which aired on May 19, averaged 390,000 live plus three viewers in the 18-49 demographic, which was 15% higher than its previous record, set by the show earlier in the season.

‘Dark Side of the Ring: Season Two’ Review

Dark Side of the Ring from Vice, is a show that delves into the underbelly of professional wrestling, a look at the stories that are, for a variety of reasons, coated in controversy. The first season was great, but the second season, which finished airing just last week with it’s final episode, was even better. Directed by Jason Eisener who created the show alongside Evan Husney, it is an authentic and real peek behind a curtain that is rarely pulled back this much.

With Chris Jericho on board and working as the narrator, these episodes bring many tales to the conversation and each offer insight and opinion from a whole list of relevant names. The episodes included in Season Two were;

Episode 1: Benoit – Part 1 Episode 2: Benoit – Part 2 Episode 3: The Life and Crimes of New Jack Episode 4: The Brawl For All Episode 5: Jimmy Snuka and...

‘Jim Ross: Under the Black Hat’ Book Review
Paul O'Brien
Written by Jim Ross, with Paul O’Brien | Published by Tiller Press | Format: Hardback, 320pp

I’ve admired and been a fan of Jim Ross’ work since I first heard him do commentary at the start of the 90s when I began my love affair with pro-wrestling. I was immediately drawn in by the passionate, educational and concise manner in which Jr called matches and told stories, allowing us fans sitting on the couch at home to truly Feel what was happening in those centres, gardens, arenas and domes, live. Listening to Jim Ross calling Raw each week, Pay Per Views every month, and various other shows from Mid South to WCW to WWE, and now listening to his work in Aew, has always been a joy. I’m a big fan, and so I was beyond excited when Under the Black Hat, the sequel to Ross’ first autoobiography, Slobberknocker, was announced.
