Hulk Hogan Had An Unforgettable Cameo In This Horror Comedy
Image
1984's "Gremlins" was a surprise hit for several reasons. For one, it was a horror comedy which managed to appeal to a wide range of moviegoers, and held its own against another trailblazing horror comedy which was released on the very same day: "Ghostbusters." For another, it was marketed heavily on the name of producer Steven Spielberg, with the ad team for Warner Bros. leaning on the adorable Mogwai, Gizmo, as a way of enticing the public who had gone gaga for Spielberg's "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial" two years prior. Though Gizmo was indeed as cuddly as E.T., "Gremlins" was not, as it famously became one of two horror-infused Spielberg productions that year (the other being "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom") which helped usher in the PG-13 rating, allowing for films that were more intense than a PG but not quite as adult as an R.

John Cena addresses Coyote vs. Acme’s fate
John Cena is thrilled ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ is finally getting a theatrical release. The Looney Tunes movie was shelved by Warner Bros. in February 2024 as a tax write-off despite being completed, but the distribution rights were later purchased by Ketchup Entertainment and ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ is now slated to hit the silver screen next year.Cena, 48, is thankful ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ is getting the chance to see the light of day, and admitted it was “tough” when the film was initially scrapped. When Screen Rant asked the WWE star how he felt about Coyote vs. Acme’s upcoming theatrical release, he replied: “Rewarding, certainly for everybody [who was] a part of the project. Anytime you put your heart and soul into something and it gets shelved, it is tough. “Again, it ain’t my sandbox, so I completely understand those decisions, but the fact that companies could talk together and the movie could get shown.

Image
Although Max offers plenty of exciting films each month, the TV catalog on the streaming service also makes the subscription well worth having, with constant originals through Max and HBO making their way to viewers every month.

If you've been using Max for some time, you're probably familiar with how it works. Every month, the streaming service offers a bunch of new television series, the majority of which come from third-party providers such as Discovery, Food Network, and Cartoon Network, and the following month will be no exception. With that in mind, here's every TV series that will premiere on Max in March 2025.

'Celtics City' Streaming March 3

Max has been home to many sports documentaries over the years, including Hard Knocks and Fists Of Freedom: The Story of the '68 Summer Games. Celtics City, chronicling the influence of the NBA's most successful franchise, the Boston Celtics, is...

The Best Joker Cartoon Appearances In Batman, Ranked
Image
The Joker is one of comics’ most popular villains, appearing in countless Batman pieces of media across mediums. Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime has been blessed with diverse and riveting portrayals by talented actors in both film and television, but he also has a long and storied history in animation.

Many animated portrayals of Batman's greatest nemesis have been just as iconic as their film counterparts, if not more so. Unfortunately, not every animated Joker has lived up to the same standard. Sometimes an animated Joker is only as good or bad as the Batman show he is in. Other times, a cartoon Joker stands out as the best, or worst, member of his cast.

Update: 2025/02/08 19:20 Est By Brian Cronin

I have updated this fun look at the best takes on the Joker in Batman animated shows and featured to add five more notable Joker animated appearances.

New 'The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie' Trailer Released
Image
The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie has recently released a new trailer that serves as both a reminder that Looney Tunes still have the potential to dominate the big screen and the lost potential that was Coyote vs Acme. The Looney Tunes have recently re-entered the public mind with the intense discourse surrounding Coyote vs. Acme; Warner Bros. Discovery shelved the film directed by Dave Green as part of a tax write-off. The aforementioned process ended with the film no longer being able to be released despite being completely finished.

Thankfully, The Day the Earth Blew Up was acquired by Ketchup Entertainment, allowing the Warner Bros. animation-produced film to see the light of day. The film premiered at the Annecy Animation Film Festival to rave reviews and reactions, further justifying the purchase of the movie. Moreover, the animated feature is set to go on an Oscar-qualifying...

7 Secrets About Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck From the Man Who’s Voiced Them for 35 Years
Image
Second only to Mel Blanc himself, voice actor Jeff Bergman has voiced the most Looney Tunes characters over the longest stretch of time. He “officially” got the gig — the reason for those quotes will become clear below — in 1989 when Bugs, Daffy and the rest became teachers on Tiny Toon Adventures. He’s continued on through dozens of other projects like 1990’s Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue, 2011’s The Looney Tunes Show, 2015’s New Looney Tunes and last year’s Tiny Toons Looniversity reboot.

While he’s not the only person who’s voiced these characters since Blanc’s passing, he’s been among the most consistent. Which, of course, has steeped him in all sorts of Looney Tunes lore, as well as allowed him to make some of his own. Lore such as…

Marvel's New Thor Story Hints Odin Would've Become An MCU Phase 4 Villain If He Hadn't Died
Image
Warning: This article contains spoilers for What If...? season 2.

Odin could have been a major villain in the McU's Phase 4 if he had survived Thor: Ragnarok. The fact that What If...?'s Odin knew about the existence of the Ten Rings suggests that the live-action Odin also knew about the Ten Rings used by Xu Wenwu and Shang-Chi. Odin's potential conflict with Shang-Chi over the ownership of the Ten Rings could have taken the new MCU hero out of the picture.

Marvel Studios' What If...? season 2 revealed that Odin would have posed a major threat to one of the newest heroes in the MCU, had he survived the events of Thor: Ragnarok. Legendary actor Anthony Hopkins brought Odin to life in 2011's Thor, introduced as the King of Asgard and father to Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Tom Hiddleston's Loki. Odin was shown to be the benevolent ruler of Asgard,...

Coyote vs. Acme First Look Revealed by Star: 'See Ya in 2024!!'
Image
The first image from Coyote vs. Acme has been revealed.

In November, it was reported that Coyote vs. Acme had been scrapped by Warner Bros. Discovery. As was the case with Batgirl, this was despite the film having been completed, and it was even reportedly testing well with audiences. After an outcry over the news, the studio reversed course by allowing the filmmakers to shop the film around to find a new distributor. While no news has yet been announced of another studio or streamer picking up the movie, voice actor Eric Bauza hinted that Coyote vs. Acme will arrive in 2024, sharing a screenshot on X from the film along with the message, "See ya in 2024!!" The post can be viewed below.

Tiny Toons: Looniversity Continues an Unexpected Looney Tunes Tradition
Image
The following contains spoilers for Tiny Toons Looniversity, now streaming on Max.

The Looney Tunes characters have been a staple of Western animation for almost a century, with their wacky hijinx entertaining generations of fans, young and old. Over the years, the classic stable of cartoon characters has been reinvented to fit with changing times and tastes. But there's one somewhat minor player in the franchise who's gone through perhaps the most radical changes overall.

Granny was introduced as a fairly straightforward character in the original Looney Tunes shorts, only to undergo a surprising evolution in the 21st century. Now recast as a far more capable character in modern adaptations, Granny has found a place at the heart of Acme Looniversity in Tiny Toons Looniversity. Notably, the show finds a way to meld her sweet side with the more proactive elements that have been increasingly afforded to the character.

However, when Bugs then tells Buster that he will actually be mentored by a character named Merlin the Magic Mouse, he's devastated. Bugs Bunny Voice Actor Reflects Mel Blanc & Looney Tunes
Image
Bugs Bunny in his current form has existed since 1940, becoming one of the 20th century's most iconic creations. The Looney Tunes star was originally voiced by the legendary Mel Blanc. Following his death in 1989, the roles were taken over in part by Jeff Bergman, who has subsequently played Bugs (and a host of the other iconic Looney Tunes characters) for decades. The importance of carrying on that legacy isn't lost on Bergman as both a fan and a part of the production.

Jeff Bergman sat down with Cbr to discuss Looney Legends in Conversation, a series of interviews with Noel Blanc, discussing the history and legacy of classic animation and the impact Mel Blanc and Chuck Jones had on the approach to voice-acting, the great difference between Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, and which surprising Looney Tunes character he thinks is quietly the most complex.

Sdcc: Tiny Toons Looniversity Unveils Its Updated Theme Song
Image
At San Diego Comic-Con, Max unveiled the all-new theme song for Tiny Toons Looniversity, a reboot of the beloved 90s cartoon Tiny Toon Adventures.

Announced back in 2020, Tiny Toons Looniversity will finally be released on Cartoon Network and Max this fall. The show brings back all of the original show's memorable characters, though it's not exactly a revival, as some changes have been made to the characters, notably with Buster and Babs now depicted as twin siblings rather than best friends. However, the new theme song unveiled by Max at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday will be familiar, as it's a revamped version of the original theme for Tiny Toon Adventures. It's one way of teasing how the classic cartoon will still serve as a big inspiration for the reboot series.

Composer Matthew Janszen has taken composer Bruce Broughton’s Daytime Emmy-winning tune and remixed the original arrangement and lyrics to fit the rebooted show made for a new generation.

The voice cast features Eric Bauza as Buster, Daffy and Gossamer; Ashleigh Hairston as Babs; David Errigo Jr. as Hamton J. Pig and Plucky; and Tessa Netting as Sweety. Looniversity also brings back Tiny Toon Adventures grads Jeff Bergman, Bob Bergen, Candi Milo and Cree Summer, who...

Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World Cameo Has A Sad History
Image
Behind Colin Trevorrow's cameo in Jurassic World is a sad history rooted in the original Jurassic Park movie. Trevorrow, who directed all three Jurassic World movies, had a voice cameo in the first installment in the trilogy. The small role in the film involved Trevorrow voicing a cartoon character named Mr. DNA.

Shaped like a strand of DNA, Trevorrow's Mr. DNA acted as the animated, kid-friendly mascot of the Jurassic World theme park in the movie and the second iteration of the character. The first appeared in an introductory video in 1993's Jurassic Park movie used to explain the dinosaurs' origins. In Trevorrow's move, Masrani Global Corporation, the organization that operated Jurassic World, reused Mr. DNA's image and likeness to reveal details of what goes on at Jurassic World to tourists. All of Mr. DNA's lines in the movie were all voiced by Trevorrow. The cartoon character has since...

Here's Why Fans Think George Jetson Was Born on July 31, 2022
Image
George Jetson was born on July 31, 2022 - at least according to the internet.

A new meme claiming that the father in the cartoon "The Jetsons" was indeed born on July 31 has been circulating online, and while the actual show never reveals his birthday, the show first aired in 1962 and was set 100 years in the future. Jetson reveals he is 40 in the first season, meaning that he would have been born in 2022.

The idea that he was born on July 31 came from a tweet posted by Brendan Kergin on July 28. The tweet included a photo of a chart of information from a fan website that listed Jetson's birthday as the 31st. "I don't mean to alarm anyone, but someone is about to give birth to George Jetson," Kergin wrote.

Meet the Voice of Bugs Bunny in ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’
Image
Bugs Bunny, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, Yogi Bear and Fred Flintstone all have one thing in common: Not only do they appear in “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” but behind the scenes, voiceover actor Jeff Bergman is responsible for voicing all these characters.

A legendary voice actor, Bergman stepped into the booth as one of the voices of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and Sylvester after Mel Blanc died in 1989..

Bergman talks about his career and the advice Blanc gave him when he was getting started in the Industry.

What was it like going to the premiere and seeing it with an audience?

It was epic to walk into a theater with a few hundred people. In the theater was Don Cheadle and of course the star, LeBron James and our wonderful director.

It was so strangely surreal because you just didn’t think this was going to happen about three months ago.

LeBron James Claps Back at Space Jam 2 Haters by Touting the Sequel's Success
Image
LeBron James is getting the last laugh at his "haters" by touting the success of the new sequel Space Jam: A New Legacy. In the months leading up to the release of the movie, Space Jam 2 had been plagued with various problems and controversies. Back in April, James personally came under fire for a controversial tweet that led to many people calling for a boycott of the new movie. Some went so far as to theorize Space Jam: A New Legacy would bomb as a result of the boycott.

As it turns out, the new Space Jam is a success. With a projected $32 million opening weekend, the sequel is the biggest yet for Warner Bros. during the pandemic, even surpassing movies like Godzilla vs. Kong. The critical reception has been a bit more mixed, but nevertheless, Warner Bros. - and James - are thrilled with how well Space Jam: A New Legacy...

Space Jam: A New Legacy Review: LeBron James Soars in Hilarious Looney Tunes Sequel

LeBron James flies high in a clever sequel that will delight generations of Looney Tunes fans. Space Jam: A New Legacy has the basketball superstar battling an aggrieved artificial intelligence for the affection of his son. The father and son coming to terms storyline is admittedly hokey; but the hilarious toons, supporting characters, and slick direction add up to a family entertainment slam dunk. Warner Bros. does go overboard with rampant self promotion. The film is essentially a two hour commercial for the studio and its intellectual property.

Space Jam: A New Legacy flashes back to LeBron James as the poor kid (Alex Huerta) of a struggling single mother. He gets a used Nintendo Gameboy from a friend. Second Trailer for 'Space Jam: A New Legacy' Starring LeBron James
Bob Bergen, Jeff Bergman, Gabriel Iglesias, Fred Tatasciore, Eric Bauza, LeBron James, and Zendaya in Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
"C'mon guys, the Tune Squad doesn't give up!" Warner Bros has debuted the second official trailer for the long-awaited sequel Space Jam 2, also known as Space Jam: A New Legacy, directed by Malcolm D. Lee. We just featured a fun mock "30 for 30" promo this week, and the first trailer dropped back in April. In this sequel, NBA superstar LeBron James teams up with Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes crew to play basketball in order to escape a virtual space run by a rogue algorithm that won't let him and his family out unless he plays a game. This also stars Don Cheadle, Cedric Joe, Khris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green, plus lots of real NBA stars; along with voice-actors Eric Bauza, Jeff Bergman, Kath Soucie, Bob Bergen, and Gabriel Iglesias making up the animated cast. This actually looks like the right amount of absurd fun with ...

The movie is a direct sequel to the 1996 sports movie Space Jam, which saw Michael Jordan and the Tune Squad taking on the Monstars at basketball. This time around, it's LeBron James who will be hitting the court with the cartoon characters to play ball against a team of digital champions created by a rogue algorithm. The only way James will be able to save himself and his son from being trapped forever in the...

Will Michael Jordan Return in Space Jam 2: A New Legacy? Don Cheadle Knows the Answer
Image
Original Space Jam star Michael Jordan will make an appearance in Space Jam: A New Legacy. Back in 1996, the Chicago Bulls legend teamed up with Bugs Bunny and the Tune Squad - with a little help from Bill Murray - to defeat the Monstars in the first Space Jam. In the sequel, LeBron James succeeds Jordan as the next NBA star to team up with the Looney Tunes cast for another high-stakes basketball game.

Playing the antagonist in Space Jam 2 is Don Cheadle, who will be voicing a rogue artificial intelligence named AI-g Rhythm. Because the trailer alone was filled with cameos, many fans have wondered if Jordan could make a special appearance as well. With this in mind, Cheadle was asked directly if Jordan was in A New Legacy, and he had a rather positive response.

"Michael Jordan is in the movie," Cheadle said matter-of-factly. Suggesting that it...

Zendaya Is Lola Bunny in Space Jam 2: A New Legacy
Image
Shortly after the premiere of the official trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy, it was revealed that Emmy-winning actress Zendaya has joined the sequel as the voice of Lola Bunny. In the original Space Jam, the cartoon rabbit was voiced by Kath Soucie, and it had been expected that Soucie would reprise the role for the sequel. Now, it's been revealed that Zendaya has officially been cast as the new voice of Lola.

In addition to a new voice, fans will notice from the Space Jam 2 trailer that Lola has also been given a visual makeover, looking more family-friendly compared to her appearance in the first movie. This is the result of director Malcolm D. Lee's decision to make the character less "sexualized" in the sequel after watching the first Space Jam.

"Lola [Bunny] was very sexualized, like Betty Boop mixed with Jessica Rabbit. Lola was not politically correct,...

‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ Trailer: LeBron James Makes His Slam-Dunk Looney Tunes Debut
Image
Warner Bros. and HBO Max have released the first trailer for “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” the sequel to the blockbuster 1996 comedy that featured NBA superstars alongside Looney Tunes characters. Stepping into Michael Jordan’s kicks this time around is LeBron James, who spearheaded the title’s return under his production company SpringHill Entertainment. Though he played a comedic role in Amy Schumer’s “Trainwreck,” “Space Jam 2” marks his first foray into leading man territory, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself in the live-action/animated sports comedy.

“Girls Trip” director Malcolm D. Lee is helming the production after taking over from “Random Acts of Flyness” creator Terence Nance. The departure was said to be “amicable,” with both parties citing creative differences. While Lee is perhaps the more obvious choice, having proven himself a shrewd helmer of blockbuster comedies, Nance’s surrealist, stream-of-consciousness style could have added a...

Space Jam 2: A New Legacy Character Posters Hit the Court with LeBron and the Tune Squad
Image
LeBron James and the Looney Tunes gang are ready to hit the court in a plethora of new character posters for Space Jam 2. Serving as a sequel to the 1996 classic Space Jam, the new movie will see James picking up where Michael Jordan left off, teaming up with Bugs Bunny and friends to take on an antagonistic basketball team. James is featured on one of the new posters alongside Bugs Bunny, though both of their faces are partially obscured.

Meanwhile, Bugs is spinning a ball on his fingertip in another character poster of his own. Lola Bunny is doing the same in her own poster, showing off her new look that's more "family-friendly" than the Lola we saw in the original Space Jam. The other Looney Tunes characters to get new posters include Tweety Bird, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Speedy Gonzales, and Taz the Tasmanian Devil.

Why Lola Bunny Needed a New Look According to Space Jam 2 Director Malcolm D. Lee
Image
Space Jam: A New Legacy director Malcolm D. Lee has explained why we'll be meeting a new Lola Bunny in the upcoming sequel. This week, Lola's new look was unveiled in a sneak peek at Space Jam 2, which teams LeBron James with the most popular Looney Tunes characters. On social media, many fans had observed that the cartoon bunny now has an appearance that's much more family-friendly than the version featured in the original Space Jam.

Space Jam 2 Is Bringing Batman, Mad Max, King Kong and More Warner Bros. Icons to the Game
Image
Today, a first look at Space Jam 2 was released. And it became apparent that LeBron James is going to have a lot of company, aside from the Looney Tunes, in A New Legacy. The sequel to Michael Jordan's original basketball flick is set to arrive this summer. Though it will be a remarkably different movie, as James is going to get sucked into the Warner Bros.' "server-verse." During his trip in the digital space, he is going to encounter many other characters from the studio's history, including Batman and King Kong, among others.

In a new piece detailing Space Jam 2, which also included some first-look photos, it is revealing that the movie will feature "Batman and King Kong courtside." This suggests that many famous faces will be occupying the seats during the basketball game between the Toon Squad and the new villains, the Goon Squad. Mad Max...
