Marvel is said to have "shifted its priorities," and Daniel Richtman believes this change in direction involves holding off "until they see a pilot they’re satisfied with. While many people feel that Marvel movies need to get back on a cohesive track, their television division has faced their own issues. Back in 2023, it was revealed that Daredevil: Born Again was going to be completely retooled after Kevin Feige and Marvel execs were not satisfied with the direction the anticipated show was heading in. The major overhaul echoed the infamous reshoots that the recent Captain America: Brave New World had gone through. As audiences wait with crossed fingers that Daredevil: Born Again comes out unscathed by the retooling, Deadline now reports that Marvel Television has paused the development of three planned shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc.

According to Deadline’s sources, these shows were never officially given the greenlight. However, even with Marvel pausing the development, they have left the door open to possibly revisit them in the future. The company has simply decided to reshift their focus onto other projects.

Marvel Television boss Brand Winderbaum warned that the studio is now "developing more than we make" and Deadline brings word today that Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. have all been shelved.

However, the Avengers inevitably won, bringing back everyone he snapped out of existence. Still, many planets remained destroyed after battling Thanos, including Xandar, the home of the Nova Corps featured in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Almost three years have gone by since we heard that Marvel Studios had hired Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada to start developing a Disney+ TV series that would center on the character Nova… but we never heard anything more about Nova until earlier this year, when Brad Winderbaum, the head of streaming, television, and animation at Marvel, told the Phase Zero podcast, “We love Nova. We are in really early development on Nova.” Soon after, Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, confirmed to ComicBook.com that a Nova TV series is “happening, it’s coming together.” Now, industry scooper Jeff Sneider of The InSneider has broken the news that Nova has found its showrunner!

Marvel’s slate in 2024 has been thinner than years prior, much of which is due to the fallout of the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, but 2025 will crank up the heat with more than eight projects confirmed to release. However, one Marvel project that Head of TV and Streaming Brad Winderbaum has confirmed to be in development just got a major update, despite lacking a spot on the official release schedule. A new report from Deadline revealed that Ed Bernero, best known for his work on Criminal Minds and Crossing Lines, will write and showrun Marvel’s Nova series. When the project was first announced in 2022, it was followed by the news that Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada would pen the script, but he has since departed and Bernero will serve as his replacement.

It’s been widely reported that Marvel Studios is changing the way it does television series. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has launched countless successful TV shows like WandaVision, Agatha All Along, and Hawkeye, one project has always failed to get off the ground — which is ironic considering its set in outer space. Marvel's Nova series has been in fans' minds since the Nova Force debuted in Guardians of the Galaxy. The project was announced in 2019, but fans have heard little about Nova since. Nova has bounced in and out of development hell for years, but a new face could be sailing the (space) ship out of the storm. Ed Bernero has officially joined Nova as a writer and showrunner. Bernero has been writing and producing hit shows since the '90s, often within the police drama/crime genre. His most popular show to date is by far Criminal Minds, which debuted in 2005, and is currently in its 18th season.

Marvel Studios takes a significant step forward in the Nova show's development over two years after the project's first announcement. The Nova Corps made their first MCU appearance in The Guardians of the Galaxy, and they were decimated off-screen by Thanos before the events of Avengers: Infinity War. Ten years after the Nova Corps' debut, their Avengers-level hero Richard Rider hasn't appeared in any MCU movie or show. This will finally change with Marvel's Nova series.

Following yesterday's rumor that Fantastic Four foe Annihilus will serve as the main villain for Marvel Studios' Nova series, the project has enlisted a new writer and showrunner.

First reported by Jeff Sneider and later confirmed by Deadline, Ed Bernero (Criminal Minds) has boarded the series as showrunner and writer, replacing Moon Knight scribe Sabir Pirzada.

Exclusive: Criminal Minds showrunner Simon Mirren and his production partner Benjamin Anderson are currently in Mumbai working on a procedural drama series with Indian firms Applause Entertainment and Locomotive Global, Deadline can reveal.

Mirren — also known for series such as Spooks, Versailles and Without a Trace — and Anderson are involved in the precinct-based crime ‘pro-serial’ through their new company, Case Closed Entertainment.

Applause, which takes a feature film financing approach to streaming series, has greenlit the series working alongside Case Closed and Locomotive, which is based in Mumbai and California, and will look to sell it to an SVoD service once produced. Kim spent 17 years at UTA as a Television Literary and Packaging agent, representing such writers as Edward Allen Bernero (Criminal Minds), Drew Goddard (The Martian), Marc Guggenheim (Arrow), and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy). He also served as VP at Apa, where he rebuilt a roster of clients which, in addition to numerous writers and producers, included actors Jennifer Beals (The L-Word), Leslie Jones (SNL), and Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii 5-0). His background includes running Bernero’s production company at ABC Studios.

Most recently, Kim established his own management company, Foundation Artist Management, which focused on representing writers, development, and international format acquisition.

The thriller - which aired on NBC in the Us - will be made available to LoveFilm's UK subscribers from October 25.
