Amazon and MGM have revealed that a "Spaceballs" sequel is officially moving forward, with Mel Brooks -- on the cusp of his 99th birthday -- returning to reprise his role as Yogurt from his original 1987 spoof movie. This news fulfills a lot of eager anticipation, as "Spaceballs" fans (many of whom have sore backs) have been speculating as to whether or not it would happen for years. The film's teaser trailer hilariously points out that since 1987, there have been numerous "Star Wars" TV shows and movies, not to mention Disney animated films, remakes of those movies, and prequels to those remakes. There were also, as the teaser notes, many "Alien" and "Predator" films, several "Jurassic Park" movies, eight "Harry Potter" films, a developing TV show remake of those movies, and 36 films set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But, it adds, there was only one "Spaceballs."
That, however, isn't entirely accurate.

NBC’s Night Court reboot could bring back more original series stars, teases the show’s EP. Set on the night shift of a Manhattan criminal court, the original Night Court became a solid ratings performer for NBC during the 1980s, going on to run for nine seasons. Now the legal wackiness is back, as Night Court has returned for a revival series, starring Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch as presiding judge Abby Stone, the daughter of original series judge Harry Stone (Harry Anderson).
Though most of the Night Court revival’s cast is indeed new, there is one original series hold-over in John Laroquette, who is back as ever-pompous attorney Dan Fielding. But could other original Night Court stars make their way to the revival series? The answer to that is “maybe,” according to reboot executive producer Dan Rubin. Speaking during the recent TCA winter press tour (via...

20th Century Fox is developing a reboot of the 1988 sci-fi movie Alien Nation, with Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway coming aboard to write the screenplay. The project doesn't have a producer on board at this stage. The studio is envisioning a re-imagining of the original movie, with the hopes of starting a franchise similar to their rebooted Planet of the Apes movies.
The original Alien Nation was set in a future where humans and an alien race were forced to co-exist with each other, as the humans keep the alien species segregated from the general population with very little rights. The plot followed the first ever alien police officer (Mandy Patinkin) on Earth, who is paired up with a racially-biased cop (James Caan). Although they have their differences, a case comes up that causes them to form a mutual respect for one another. The original movie spawned...
